So...

I'm really hairy. My pubic hair descends multiple inches down my thighs, I have a relatively pronounced "happy trail" and I even have a few hairs around my nipples. I just let it be for the most part if I know I'm not going to be intimate with someone purely because of the hassle that goes with getting rid of it. Not only is it time consuming, but the ugly red bumps and ingrowns (even on my stomach!) are often more disturbing than the actual hair. I feel like it actually puts a damper on my relationships because I'm so self conscious of it. I won't hook up with anyone unless everything's newly shaven because of the risk of the aforementioned bumps, stubble, grossness, etc. I've also noticed that there are actually multiple hairs growing out of the same follicle, attributing to the stubbornness of the hair. I've tried waxing/shaving/bleaching but nothing really seems to help.

Thus, I ask two questions. 1) Is this normal? I come from a family of pretty hairy people but I've heard about hormone imbalances and have never gotten myself checked out.

2) What do I do about this? I know there are threads about successful removal of pubic hair, but I feel like most of these people have rather fine hair that can be easily shaven or waxed.

Hey ladies -

So I posted a couple days ago, about the side effects of BC. Another question!

I started taking HBC 5 days ago when I got my period (which is usually only like 3 days at most - since I don't eat meat and avoid eggs and dairy, I put basically no hormones in my body). So, I had my period, and was spotting a little for an extra day or so, no biggie. Now, it's like, I'm getting cramps and getting my period all over again. What the hell. Is this normal? This is my first time on BC. Is my body just freaking out a little? Should I call the doctor..?

How accurate would you say the calculators on the site My Monthly Cycles [dot] com are? Ive been tracking my period and ovulation, and so far it's been alright with the period. I am no wondering if the ovulation is correct as well.

I'm not your average 28 day cycle gal, more so a 32 day cycle, so trying to figure out when I ovulate is somewhat iffy for me. My next expected due date for my period is the 9th of November, thus making ovulation this past weekend.

Any thoughts?

Femcon FE

Anyone on the HBC Femcon FE? (Also known as the the chewable birth control) I have been putting off starting the medications because I checked out this site and have seen a lot of nasty reviews for the drug. I've been on birth control and have never had a problem, but after reading through that site, I'm scared to death the same things will happen to me.

So my question is if you're on it or know someone who is on it, are you/they having any of these side effects? Anyone taking this who has no problem with it? I only know of one person who is taking this without any problems.

I'd like to find an alternative to my pads, something I can reuse and won't feel guilty about using. I know about the menstrual cups but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with something I'd have to insert (I don't like tampons), though I might end up trying it anyway.

What methods do you know about? What's worked for you?

Edit: Thanks for the advice everyone!

ok first of all, i'm on otc (lo), and skipped my period last month, using thr 1-2-3-3-2-1 method. I'm currently on the last week 1. i pretty much got my period now though (instead of next week)..it's not fully consistant, but is enough to not be spotting. I reallllllly wanna not have it halloween :)  has anyone here ever tried the ibeprophan thing?
Thanks!

Hello, ladies. I've never posted here before but I find myself here a lot searching for information. I'm hoping that I can get some personal stories about different BC methods. I understand of course that everyone is different and everyone will have different experiences. I'm just hoping to get a bit of an idea of what I'm up against here. I'm currently on a generic birth control pill, and while I have never had issues with it, I would like to find a more convenient method because I just can't remember to take the damn thing!

I've had a lot of problems lately with my girly bits, which culminated in my seeing the doctor for irritation that wouldn't go away. One of the problems was a yeast infection set off by antibiotics, and I treated it several times, but it always came back 2-4 days later. Finally, my period came and went and it seemed to really be gone, but 4 days later, it was back again.

The doctor gave me a steroid ointment to apply twice daily for five days to help with the generalized irritation. I just applied my last dose this morning. The yeast infection came back Monday.

I have two questions.

Is there any treatment (besides Diflucan or the like) that won't irritate as it treats? I'm finally free of my pain, and I'd really rather not throw some more irritation causing crap at myself. :( I have an appointment with the doctor for oral treatment, but it's not until November 10, and I'd like to not just sit and let this fester for 12 days.

Also, is it likely that the petroleum-based ointment caused a smothered breeding ground for a yeast infection or does it just sound like a recurrance of the previous one?

Hey Ladies--
I was wondering if any of you knew a site that showed before/after pictures of Brazilian waxes.
Thanks!

Edit: I'm thinking about going to get one, but I want to see the effects. Aka is it THAT much greater than shaving?! Its kinda on my "to do" list b4 i die, so I figure.. why wait! *but I do wanna make sure its worth it*

I am considering getting a bikini or even a brazialn wax but am overweight (i weigh about 250 lbs).  Is it possible for me to get a wax of my pubic area?  I currently shave but would like to feel smoother for longer periods of time.

Hi all, I'm a long time lurker and decided to join up today.

My question is, have any of you had a masturbation mishap?  I had one today.

For the first time in weeks, I decided to give myself some lovin'.  I got out the trusty toy and settled in to get comfortable only to find the batteries were flat (story of my life!!).  This normally would not present a problem because the spare batteries are usually close by but I've recently moved house since the last time I had a play with myself and didn't know where the hell I'd pack the spares!  Crisis was averted after about 5 minutes of frantic looking through boxes and bags and a good time was had.

Anything like this happen to you lovelies?

Hi Everyone :)
Due to my insurance messing up majorly (canceling my insurance incorrectly and the not telling me until 3 weeks later), I could not refill my birth control (loestrin 1/20) last sunday (1.5 weeks ago). Now that things have been straightened out I was finally able to get it today. The pharmacist said I could just start it today, but to not consider it "effective" for a month. I know he's the "expert", but he sounded a little unsure and awkward even discussing it, and I just thought I'd check in with you ladies: does this sound right? Or does it seem like I should just wait it out until my period comes and then start the new pack? Or start on like the day I SHOULD be on (second Wednesday) even though it's a monophasic pill and thus wouldn't matter which pill I take, but then maybe my period would come at the same time as usual?

Anywho. Just wondering if anyone could help with some thoughts. I'm fine with considering it not effective for a month until I start taking it (even though it's, well, obnoxious and I feel sad for my boyfriend as he already missed out on "birthday sex" ha), just am not feeling confident on when I actually should start this new pack. And as I've been on birth control for 1.5 years and this is the first time I've been off it...not thrilled about this and don't know how my body will react to this 1.5 week gap.

Thank you in advance!

Elena

I had laparoscopic surgery about a week and half ago to remove a cyst from my ovary as well as have endometriosis removed. I was told I could have sex again as soon as I felt ready, which I do but my fiancee is nervous about hurting me. I have a bit of pain still at the incision near my belly button and some pain inside when I move around certain ways, but other than that I feel fine. For anyone who has had this type of surgery done, can you give me any insight as to whether or not sex does hurt afterwards, etc?

I was never really educated on vaginal health, and I kind of feel stupid for not knowing, but what is discharge supposed to look like?  And how often is it supposed to happen?

I feel really awkward posting about this sort of thing. But hey, every woman has issues and needs answers.

Anyway, lately my period has been very hard to track. I'm 20 and I've had it for 6-7 years, so I'd think that it would start to be on a regular schedule, but maybe I'm wrong? What else could be causing this to happen? It's really bugging me because I have general anxiety disorder and I get really nervous when things are off kilter. Especially my period, because a few hours after I get it, I get very bad, almost debilitating cramps for the first day. I don't know what else could be going on. Could my depression have anything to do with it? Any other ideas?

Also, I saw a post about having lots of discharge, and I've been having that problem as well. The feeling is ucky, to put it simply, lol! It's like a little gush. I'm not sexually active though, so any STD wouldn't be the answer. Any ideas what could cause that? I've recently had my blood tested and there were no problems, so I really don't know what's going on.

Thank you [so much] in advance for any enlightenment!

In order to take an HPT, is it best to wait 19 days from last unprotected sex OR day of first missed period.

I'm about 99.9% certain I'm not pregnant (PCOS and overweight) but here's the deal.

Me and my FWB had sex on the fifth day of my last period (in September) and again on what would have been on the 30th day of my cycle (so one could presume the supposed 1st day of my period if I'd got it, as I'd had two periods 30 days apart, but as my cycle is so wonky, it could have just been a random day!). This last sex took place 10/11 days ago.

No sign of my aunt flo and my best friend is nagging me to take a test. So. Is it better to take it tomorrow morning first thing, or wait another week?

Like I say, I'm not panicking about being pregnant as the chances are so so so so so so slim, and as such I only want to use one test as they're expensive. I don't know if I've missed a period yet due to wonky cycles, so am I right in going I should wait until the end of next week (and knowing my luck Aunt Flo will turn up, knowing I've just spend 11 quid on a test!)?

Okay Ladies. Thanks for the advice from question #!.. heres #2..

i know everyone is different but...
my now long distance boo is coming in 23 days. YAYYY

if I got one on Saturday..just for a test run... and LIKE it, will i have enough time to get it re-done?! Or should I wait like a week b4 he comes and just hope it works out nicely *no bumps, etc* and stays smooth.

EDIT: I've been looking at POLISHED in georgetown for you DC ladies.. Yelp says good things. http://www.yelp.com/biz/polished-washington
the price is looking right.

I've read a lot about using hormonal birth control to skip a period, but I still have a question.

I'm interested in moving my period by 2 weeks so I can spend my whole Christmas break with my boyfriend.  I take Femcon FE which is a monophasic pill.  Instead of just skipping the placebo week and taking the entire next pack, can I take only 2 weeks of the next pack?  This would mean I would take 5 weeks of active pills before taking a week of inactive pills, and then continuing to take it normally.  Would this be more confusing to my body than 6 weeks of active pills?  It seems to me like it shouldn't matter, but am I wrong?

I know about using back up contraceptives and the risk of spotting.  Thanks to everyone for your help.

I went to get my mirena today but didn't happen, the doctor didn't insert it due to a tear on the front of my cervix.  She said it was nothing to worry about but was afraid of going any further without hurting me or making it open/worse.

Is it anything to see my GP about, I'm scared.
