I'm incredibly frustrated with my ladybits right now.  I'm 24 and I've been shaving my pubic hair since I was 16.  I used to shave everyday but now I've slacked off to about once or twice a week.  In all that time I'd never ever had problems with ingrown hairs... until recently.  It's just in the last few months that I've been experiencing monstrously bad ingrown hairs.  They're gigantic and swollen and angry and not so attractive.  They're pretty much confined to the few random patches where I've taken to plucking over the last few months.  Plucking increases the chances of getting ingrown hairs, doesn't it?  Should I cease and desist immediately and throw my freakin' tweezer out?  Any good methods for getting rid of ingrown hairs that won't result in giant patches of scabbiness?

Your advice is very much appreciated.  :)

Based on some fabulous member feedback, we've decided to create a VP waxing directory, in the style and spirit of our already-existent gynecologist directory.

The goal is for this to be a resource VPers can use to find good waxers and aestheticians in their areas. If you have had really positive experiences with yours and would like to recommend her/him, please leave a comment to this post.

For ease of browsing, please put your city (or metro area) and state/province/country in your subject line. This will let folks find local recommendations more quickly.

Then feel free to tell us:

1. Name of the individual or business.
2. How (s)he can be contacted: website, phone number, etc.
3. Prices/ranges: (bikini, Brazilian, etc. -- include what you know)
4. "Bedside manner": How comfortable -- physically and mentally -- is a visit to this person? Friendly? Professional?
5. Anything else you'd like VPers to know about your waxer: In case we haven't covered it here. ;)

**Standard Legal Disclaimer: Having this post on LJ or on our website does not constitute VP's official endorsement of any/all of the establishments listed. As with everything else VP-related, please use this resource responsibly and with your own discretion!

I was just wondering, when you shave or get your pubic area waxed, what do you do with the hair around your anus? I can't shave there... and I'd certainly feel awkward with somebody waxing me there. What do you guys do to get rid of it?

sugaring

I'm pretty sure at least someone in this community has tried sugaring before, and I'm looking for some advice.

I'm pretty sure I get the process, but what I can't seem to do is make the stuff.

I tried the reciepe from this site:
http://www.care2.com/channels/solutions/self/432

But it didn't work. I think the problem was that I have no Candy thermometer, and don't know what the "hardball candy stage" is meant to look like, and so I just sorta guessed.

It was way too thin, and would only remove the lightest of hairs if I "dabbed" at the sugar on my skin. I applied the cotton strip, waited, yanked it off and then when I tried pressing it on and pulling it off a few times it would pick up one or two thin hairs.

I gave up on that lot, and tried the recipe from here:
http://crunchyjulia.livejournal.com/6406.html

But again, too thin. And if I don't cook it until it's too thin, the sugar doesn't disolve. -_-

Could the problem be that I was using unrefined sugar? Which is heavier, and takes more cooking to disolve, and so it all goes wrong?

I don't know, both times it ended up just being like honey, and pulling the strips off tugged at the hair but didn't remove it. I left the strips for about 5 minutes (I just did one strip at a time, since I didn't want to cover myself in goop until I got it right) and it didn't seem to set at all.

So, any advice on how to get it right?

I want to be hair free. I saw the Nads naughty waxing kit anyone tried it. I have tried shaving and got horrible ingrown hairs. I need tips and tricks I've thought about getting a brazillian but I don't know where to go or how much it would cost. Plus I have a little bit of a belly so It's kind of hard for me to get down there sometimes. Sio help

ALright ladies! I'm the one who asked about Body Sugaring yesterday!
See original post here!

Making the sugar is so stupidly easy i kept thinking "there's gotta be more to this" it took around 20 mins to make it, would probably be less for you guys closer to sea level, but i'm up in the rocky mountains, so yeah all that altitude makes it a little longer for me.

First i tried it out on my eyebrows and other facial hair and OMG IT IS AWESOME!! its not very painful, and the site was right, it feels alot like ripping off a bandage, or maybe even a piece of tape. my skin is a little red, but its not too irritated, and putting some tea tree oil on it made it very happy ^.^

Next, i tried my girly-bits. I'm a little dissapointed to report that it didnt work so well. The sugaring doesnt grab all of the hair, so i had to wax over the same spot a few times...and when i sill had quite a bit of hair, i got frustrated and stopped. I have really coarse pubic hair though, so it could just be me.

So, my Final Verdict for Sugaring:
AWESOME for facial hair
Not so awesome for Pubic hair.

I give it a 8 out of 10!

Thanks for all the wonderful tips and comments ladies! :D

So I was in deep thought about electrolysis today..and I figured this would be the place to ask my questions about it.

Has anyone here actually gone through the whole electrolysis process? If you have: How much did it cost? Was it painful? What were the end results? Is it worth all the money that they apparently charge?

Thanks everybody! =)

Hey guys! I'm new to this community, and wow this place just rocks my socks :D

I checked through some of the archives and didnt really find the answers i needed, so i'm going to ask away, sorry if its been recently asked!

Has anyone here ever tried Body Sugaring before?
I'm seriously broke and cant afford to go get a wax, and shaving is just a pain in the butt...
I've bought all the supplies and plan to do it tomorrow, just wanted some input to see if anyone else out here has been brave enough to try!

any tips/comments would be greatly appretiated!

oh and i have a rediculously high pain tolerance so i'm not worried about that *giggle*

P.S. I'll definaley keep you guys informed :D

have any of you ever tried waxing 'down there' yourself? As opposed to getting it done perfessionally? I've been wanting to try it, but have been too chicken lol
