Body Sugaring

Hey guys! I'm new to this community, and wow this place just rocks my socks :D

I checked through some of the archives and didnt really find the answers i needed, so i'm going to ask away, sorry if its been recently asked!

Has anyone here ever tried Body Sugaring before?
I'm seriously broke and cant afford to go get a wax, and shaving is just a pain in the butt...
I've bought all the supplies and plan to do it tomorrow, just wanted some input to see if anyone else out here has been brave enough to try!

any tips/comments would be greatly appretiated!

oh and i have a rediculously high pain tolerance so i'm not worried about that *giggle*

so have i, but even if something is incredibly painful to one person, i usually dont feel much, or just dont care.

the exception to the rule is one time i tried to wax with some Sally hanson stuff...oh god worst pain ever and it didnt even remove the hair D:

haha, oh no. i get things waxed, ive never seen sugaring in spas where i live (i live in seattle so im sure i could find it if i looked hard enough though), but i'd try it out! at-home waxing isn't recommended haha, especially for someone who has no clue what they're doing. i would definitely pay to have someone professional do it.

heh yeah thats true, i've waxed other things with no problem but that Sally hanson stuff was AWFUL, i threw it right in the trash after i had to practically surgically remove my thigh from my naughty bits...owchies!!!

i havent seen sugaring in spas out here, but then again i live in nowhereville and i'm not much of a girly girl so yeah, there you go..LOL

I had the same experience with Sally Hansen wax. That stuff is crap.

I've been making my own body sugar for a while now, and it's pretty much the same as cold waxing, although a tiny bit less painful. It still hurts quite a bit, though, and I also have a high pain tolerance.

I put a link to where i heard about it in the post, its basically just heated up sugar, lemon juice and water, you put it on your skin when it cools, put some cotton strips on it and then RIIIIP the hair off. its supposed to be pretty pain free and leaves everything soft afterwards. I'm giving it a go tomorrow

I didn't realize you could make your own sugaring stuff! I bought a small container of sugaring a couple years ago. The container says it's got aloe vera added, so I guess that's why my goop is green.

There's not much to say, to tell the truth. I don't know about the pain-free thing, but I've never waxed so I don't know how the pain with sugaring compares to pain with waxing. In comparison, it might be.

Um, I will say, when I started I went overboard in applying the mixture. It's best to scrape as thin as possible.

The link you shared pretty much says everything you need to know, honestly. Be careful, like they warned, about burning yourself. I'd often think it was cooler than it actually was.

Oh, also, it totally took way more time than I expected. Of course, I went from shaving to sugaring, so I was used to it being pretty quick.

Uh. I'm trying to think of other possibly sugaring specfic things, but nothing's coming up.

For waxing and sugaring in general, spread the goop thin in the direction in grows (on you legs, then, down) and stretch the skin with one hand while ripping with the other, if possible.

hmm, to clarify (on you legs, then, down), I meant in the case of your legs, spread it down.

and I find sugaring my pits nigh impossible, but that could just be me being bored/tired after finishing with my legs and bikini line.

And, re: bikini line, when I rip I'd see drops of blood bead up. More cool than scary, but just a heads up.

I've waxed before with the normal wax, so i'm pretty comfortable with temperatures and things, i'd just never used the sugaring tecnique before!

i dont like waxing my pits either, it hurts like mad crazy for some reason, i'll just stick to the girlybits and the legs XD

Same here. I tried waxing my pits once, and it hurt SO BAD. By the time the pain went away (about 2 weeks), the hair was growing back.

Did you buy the stuff already made or are you making it yourself? A friend of mine from Sri Lanka showed me how to make it and it was so easy and ridiculously cheap. I only ever used it on my legs but it worked great there. If you're going to use it in the bikini/vulva area, I'd recommend trimming the hair down a bit do it's easier to spread it on. The thing I loved about it is that it's easy to wipe away excess whereas with other types of wak stuff, it's almost impossible

Ah, well then, you'll probably do fine. I find that my poor, old back just isn't as good at contorting the way one needs to in order to wax the girly parts. It's a bitch growing old. :)

a friend show me how to do it but instead of water she used vinegar =S
I am going to try it with water because I cant seem to get the right consistency with the vinegar. thanks for the link! =D
