okay hi *waves* im fifteen, and i probably sound like the most immature person in the world, but i mean i've never really been comfortable enough to talk about it with my mom and my health classes arent that detailed. but when you have sex, should it be in the same hole where you bleed out of for your period? im sorry if im a total idiot, but i just wasnt completely positive *sigh* also, im going to have my first trip to the gyno to start going on the poll and im kind of nervous, is it really painful? (i have endometriosis if that makes any difference in pain level) any information you gals could give me would be very much appreciated :) thank you!

Does a cold sore always appear in blister form?

(Sorry if it's a bit off topic, but I'm absolutely paranoid that it will somehow transfer to genital herpes for me or my boyfriend when I'm giving/receiving oral sex)

I have what look like three or so tiny pimples on the edge of my mouth, not really on the lips but on the very corners of my mouth on the skin. They don't loook like blisters, so is it possible that they are just pimples from say...oily foods I ate and didn't quite clean off my lips so they clogged my pores? I break out really fast if there's oil involved.

Thanks for any input!

I'm think about getting a Nuva Ring. i was wondering if anyone has first hand experience with it? i want to ask

-is it comfortable
-can you have sex with it in
-do you need to use a second method of birth control
-are there side effects
-can it fall out

I know my doctor will give me stats and generic facts, but i want to know what real women have encountered.

A recent post got me thinking.......and a question popped into my head. Of course this question would be answered by those who have experienced this.

Quote from earlier post:
In a pelvic exam, the doctor examines your vulva, vagina, and (by using fingers to hold them still from inside your vagina, while pressing down gently on the belly) your uterus and ovaries.

While doing this part of the pelic exam, done with the fingers inside the vagina, and the hand pressing down on the tummy, would the doctor be able to detect cysts, endo, fibroids, or any other abnormality?

I've always wondered.

Also, everytime I have this part of the exam done, it hurts. Not to where there's a lot of pain, but it's a situation that is not just uncomfortable either. Does anyone else ever feel this way?

Thanks if anyone knows the answers. And for those that have experienced cysts, fibroids, or endo could you share how it was detected.

I called the EMO and apparently I have a large, nasty, ovarian cyst that seems to have been around for a long time (will the fact that it took so long to treat it have any adverse side-effects?)
Anyway, my doctor is worried that it might burst soon because of the episode that occured sunday night. So I've been ordered to rest and not do anything to physical for a while. I'm going in to look at the Pics today and we're gonna set up a game plan on how to get rid of this thing... whether I need meds, or surgery... we've already ruled out waiting to see if it goes away on its own, for obvious reasons.

Since sunday, I've noticed some spotting on and off. Is that normal?

Anyway, thanks for all of your help and support. This community is great.

would just like to introduce myself to the group, I'm seventeen living in rural North Dakota. so, yeah.hey.

in the past few weeks I've been researching both the Instead and The Keeper as alternatives to using pads and/or tampons during my period, and while all the information that I've found has been helpful, I've decided to come here to ask for advice from women who have used one or both of them.

my main question is which of the two is more cost efficient? and also which one seems to be easier to insert? I've only used tampons in the past and whatever will be the smoother transition would be the best I think.

also if there is any other menstrual cups out there, please let me know.
thank you in advance ladies.

I live in an on campus residence hall and share a community bathroom with about 50 girls. I'm interested in trying out the sea spounge but the whole rinsing thing I'm a little worried about. If I had my own bathroom it wouldn't be a big deal. However I will have to take the spounge out and carry it out of the stall to the row of sinks and rinse it out with the potential of everyone watching. Now before I knew about this, I can honestly say that I would be grossed out if someone took something that had been inside of her while she was on her period and was rinising it out in the sink that I brush my teeth in. So got any advice? Does anyone share a community bathroom and use sea spounges?

The visit to the EMO today was pointless. The doctor said that the cyst shouldn't be causing all these other physical problems, that it "shouldn't hurt there," and there is no more tests he can do on me. He has no clue what's wrong and he has given up. And, he said that with a cyst all I can do is wait for it to go away... but it's not going away. In fact, it's getting worse. I am in PAIN... and I am scared. And now I have to hunt for another doctor who is covered by dad's insurance, otherwise I can't pay for it. I have no clue where to even start. I'm sure dad and mom can help me with that aspect... but for once I'd like someone to know WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME????? I have the sypmtoms of a UTI, but I apparently don't have one. I'm having weird uterine contractions, but the pregnancy tests are all negative. I am bleeding from my cervix, which obviously is not normal. I am dizzy, I have a fever but no other sign of infection (at least, no positive test results of various infections.) The left side of my pelvis is all swollen and I'm feeling nauseated. WHAT...THE...HELL?????!!!!!!!?
I have no idea what the fuck I'm supposed to do. He suggested another gyno exam. That would be a huge problem for me. That would require them ripping open my cervix again... and my cervix already hurts like hell just from sitting in the wrong position.
If I don't get a break soon, I'm gonna scream.

Sometimes I use self-stimulation as a pain-stress reliever, or as a source of self-soothing/comfort when I'm having trouble sleeping away from my boyfriend.

I know some women go all out for their pleasure sessions- candles, music, sexy clothes.. while others end up randomly pleasuring themselves while watching their favorite soap, but...

What kind of self-pleasurer are you?

Casual, constant, bored, well-planned, mutual?

Maybe someone knows the answer to this in this community..
I've heard of places that offer the pill without an exam...is that planned parenthood or somewhere else?

what factors effect our vagina's taste and smell? after reading the comments about someone's switch to veggetarianism and her hopes of tasting better -- i realize that food may have something to do with it, but what else?

what about with boys? i was reading a magazine today that said boys generally tend to taste like chlorine. i've only had one sexual partner. i've always thought he's tasted like a combination of soap and ink from a bic pen. <-- don't deny it, everyone's tasted ink at some point. or not. but i have.

i had a UTI about three weeks ago. since recovering from it, though, i've noticed that my pee smells different. my pee doesn't have that normal urine smell...it smells like something more musky and meaty.

any thoughts on why my pee doesn't smell normal anymore? the odd smell isn't accomanied with urine that is inconsistant in color or clarity. i'm not showing signs of a kidney infection, bladder infection, or another UTI. could these just be reeeeeeally lingering effects of the medication i took to treat it?

kind of a long post, i know. rambling thoughts about odors coming from my cooch. i'd love to hear input about anything, though. anything and everything.

what happens when you are on the pill, but you travel in different time zones? do you take the pill at the same time, but in that time zone? how does one adjust for this to keep the pill effective? thanks!

Almost 3 weeks with no yeast infection. I've been taken AZO and this is the longest time in like 4 months without an infection.
Horray!

Is it bad to fantasize about another man, but he's made up, while your partner stimulates you? how about when masturbating? Does that mean you not satisfied, or you need more excitement?

Any suggestions on what to do for severe period cramps?

hey there, i'm new--just thought i'd throw that out there.

i've got plenty of questions about vagina related topics, but right now i've got questions about my breasts. is that cool? well, my right breast has this really big hard spot on the outter side and i'm wondering if that's just my hormones b/c i just finished my cycle for the month. it's not abnormal, but i'm just not sure about it. if anyone can give me advice on how to fix it, what it may be caused by or anything of the sort, i'd appreciate it. i'm sure you've heard it before, but if this post isn't welcomed, then direct me to the nearest breast related community :) thanks.
