I'm think about getting a Nuva Ring. i was wondering if anyone has first hand experience with it? i want to ask
-is it comfortable
-can you have sex with it in
-do you need to use a second method of birth control
-are there side effects
-can it fall out
I know my doctor will give me stats and generic facts, but i want to know what real women have encountered.

-no, it has the same effectiveness of the pill, so condoms are only necessary for protection against STIs (if that is an issue for you) or if they make you feel more comfortable and safe.
- there can be. that varies for everyone. it has the same possible side effects of the pill, but is probably less likely to give you problems as it is very low dose and releases hormones locally.
-theoretically, but it shouldn't. i assume you would check for it now and then, to be sure it's still there. :)

Date: 2003-08-19 11:43 am (UTC)-yes (you can also take it out for sex as long as you put it back in right afterward, but most people keep it in during sex without problems)
-not unless you're really really terrified of pregnancy (it's as effective as the Pill)
-very few, since the dose of hormones is so low
-no, though you should check it every once in a while and also make sure it doesn't get pulled out during sex.
