Hello everyone! First post here.

I asked this over in [livejournal.com profile] iud_divas as well but I figured the more opinions I get the better I can know what to do from here.

I was just pregnant 6 weeks ago, had a beautiful baby girl. I decided I wanted to get an IUD put in (Mirena) because I can't do the pills or shot because of having a history with both. Also, being allergic to latex, it just seems to be the most logical choice.

So on Friday I went and had it put in (huzzah!) and have had minimal spotting and no cramping after the first few hours (and even that was very mild!) but tonight I got confused...

See, I never fully dropped my mucus plug, or I should say I DIDN'T drop my mucus plug, in my pregnancy (6 weeks ago), only diliated 3 cm and then had a c-section. Is it completely possible that the insertian of the IUD got some of the leftover mucus plug out? Because tonight going to the bathroom I went to the bathroom and I had (TMI I'm so sorry) bloody, yellow... snot... in the toilet paper. Kinda freaked me out but I checked my strings and they were in the same place.

So do you think this is possible? I mean, it's been quite a while but it's the only explination I can come up with. There was still no cramping, and no period... no movement in the strings or anything... so yeah. I'm just kinda confused and any suggestions (other than call the doctor, I plan on doing that on Tuesday!) or help would be appreciated :)

(1)So the purchase and arrival of the bottle of lube has gotten me to finally try using my diva cup again. It took a few tries, but i got it in. Not sure if it's completely popped open yet or not, though. I used the punch-down method, so the fold was at the front, but when i stick my finger in there to check, it seems to have a dent in the back?

I dunno, I couldn't quite get my fingers comfortably where they could grab onto and rotate the cup, so i'm wearing a pad as backup and trying it out for a while...

Also, I can definitely feel it... Partially, i'm sure, is because i haven't trimmed the stem. but a little bit can be felt pressing against my bladder, and i can't really tell if its pressing anywhere else. I really hope i didn't pinch my cervix (yeah, i know its in the back. i just can't feel where anything is, silly nerves -or lack thereof-) because i'd like this to be a relatively successful run.

Thoughts?

(2) When I was inserting and fishing around the DC, my fingers would come out of my vagina with a thick, chunky, brown discharge. I remember hearing about this several times but i don't remember anything i may have read about it (after all, i've always been abnormally lucky- why should something strange like that ever happen to me? :P )

So is brown just a normal color for first day menses, or do i need to get nervous?

Thanks!

This might be a longshot, but here goes:

I started my period (was not on birth control before for several months) on September 16, and started taking Seasonale. My period ended on the 20th, and I stopped taking the pill on the 26th. I then started bleeding again from the 28th to the 1st. My question is, when should I expect to be ovulating? Would I just calculate it from my actual period, or would it "reset" according to the post-birth control bleeding? My cycle is 28 days normally, and rarely deviates, in case that's relevant.

Epilators

Although I know they're painful, epilators can't be any worse than waxing.  (Can they?)  Does anyone have any suggestions for a good one?  I'm sick of spending the $70 on a Brazillian and then having to do it again in 6 weeks.  $70 once for a machine that will do it for me seems like a better idea.

hi! i just joined, and have heard rave reviews from people over at menstrualhut.

My prob is, i just noticed that i have tiny little fissures in my peri area, and i know it's from that fast(and sorta rough) quickie the hubby and i had a few days ago. any remedies to ease the pain and make them disappear? my b-day's on Wed, and i want to be able to have enjoyable sex with the hubby.

thanks all!!!

Hii everyone.

Okay, so whenever my boyfriend and I have sex, the area around the vaginal entrance always gets dry and sore.
I try Vagisil, Monoistat, and Lubriderm to bring relief to the area, but nothing works.
I do shave, and take multiple unrelated medications.
I hear that those two factors could have an effect.
Does anyone else experience the itchy/dryness after sex/masturbation?
What can I do to resolve this?

thank youuu.

tummies.

I wonder, can anyone tell me the difference between an early pregnant tummy and a tummy that's just a little bit fat? Would a tummy that was in the early stages of pregnany be firm?

I know I'm probably just being very paranoid. It's just it seems a bit odd that I keep putting weight on in my tummy area, as opposed to, say, my tits, arse or thighs. I know weight gain with hormonal birth controls is common, however, I thought it just generally went to the aforementioned areas, not just my stomach.

In fact, I just know I'm being paranoid, because my last period was a week ago, and I'm on the pill. I did miss the pill on day and have sex a couple of days later. However, a couple of days after that I did a pregnacy test which came back negative.

I can go into more details if needed.

But, is it just perfectly normal for all my weight to pile onto one area, that being my tummy? I'm very certain it's gone nowhere else, which is a pity. I'd be happy if my boobs got bigger or my arse more curvy. :P

Maybe I've just got lots of testosterone or something.

Okay I'm a longtime member that hasn't posted in a very long time.
I've got a problem, hopefully you can help me out.

for the past month or two I've been getting these little white spots on my perineum and anal area. I can't tell what they are, they're white and hard, my husband says they look like ingrown hairs or zits, or cysts or something. (Yeah he's real sweet and looks at my butthole for me!)
We tried tweezing them off but they just keep getting worse. I don't know what I should do. I do shave that area so I'm leaning more towards them being ingrown hairs. I should probably stop shaving and try getting waxed instead huh?
I'm a little embarrassed to go to my doctor about this, but it really bugs me.
Any advice?
If you need visuals let me know, I can probably get some pics of the affected area without them being too graphic. lol.

Thanks.

x-posted to iud_divas but I want as much info/advice as I can get.

At my last pap smear (April 06) my doctor told me he couldn't find my strings. I'd had my Mirena for a year. He didn't seem too concerned saying that it's not a big deal and that he didn't believe my Mirena had come out. I don't think it has either since I still get the wierd stabbing cramps during my "periods".
The only thing he told me was that when it was time to have it removed I'd have to go to the ER.
So I was just wondering if anyone else has had this experience?
Mine's still good for few more years, I've only had it since April of 05.

Also, does anyone else not get periods anymore? I know it's possible. My doctor's tech insists on putting in a date of my last period everytime I see him though, even though I explain that I have and IUD and I don't really get them or keep track of them anymore. I get a little bit of cramping (although that has been getting progressively worse) and sometimes pink goo. But I don't actually have the full blown bloody mess that I used to get when I was on the pill.
I like it this way. But they never seem to believe me.
I don't know what to do about it...

So I just called my pharmacy and they treated me like sh*t; said they had never heard of such a "ridiculous" thing and then began to PRY why I would want the gel caps (probably insinuating I would be using them for illegal substances).

So where can I purchase the gel caps? And what size gel cap should I be purchasing?

Hey there!

I've got a bit of a problem, I guess you could say. I'm on Diane-35 and typically I do 2-3 packs with no breaks so that I get my period every 6-9 weeks instead of every three. My doctor says this is alright and so I've been doing it for some time.

I had my "period" late in the month of August so I started a pack right after that.

I finished my last pack two Fridays ago (the 22nd of September - meaning I took my last pill Friday at 11pm) but I didn't get my pills until the following Monday (the 25th) and, as (sort of) expected I got my period on the 28th regardless of the hormones pumping through my veins.

So I figured I confused the heck out of my body, but continued to take my pills anyways expecting the period to run its course and then I'd continue on my normal schedule.

Only problem is, I't shte 8th (nearly the 9th) and I'm still on my period. It's very light, is brown, and rather ... stringy? Almost like dry, dead skin coated in brown blood. I know this sounds gross, sorry.

So I've got a few questions:

1. Is this something I should be worried about? Should I see a doctor?
2. If this has happened to anyone else before, how long did it last?
3. Am I protected against pregnancy now? I plan on seeing a Friend with Benefits sometime later this week (fingers crossed the curse is gone by then) and we don't typically use a condom

Thank you to anyone who can help!

im on my third week of pills (OTC-Lo)
in the first week there was two days(not in a row) where i took my pill almost 12 hrs late. I got nervous so i took plan b about a week from last thursday. Yesterday i started to get really bad stabbing sharp pains in my right ovary in target. I was doubled over a little bit even. I was scared to go to the bathroom cause it might hurt more. it went away after like an hr and then about 3 hrs later it started up in my left ovary. what are theese pains and what is my chance of getting pregnant? i had sex about and hr ago and the last time before that was on the night i took the plan b last thursday.

Hi everyone. I was curious about something that's been happening lately after I have sex with my boyfriend. I'm on HBC, so we usually don't use condoms. But on the months that I mess up and forget to take my pill for a day or two, we'll use condoms just in case. Whenever he uses a condom (we use lubricated Trojans), I tend to get sore and uncomfortable down there, even if I'm well lubricated. Afterwards, it burns pretty badly when I pee for about a day or so. It basically feels like I've been rubbed raw. I don't think I have a latex allergy, since I've been with my boyfriend for 5 years and we used condoms as our only form of birth control for a long time without a problem. Would a different type of lube help? I'm currently using the KY spray and I'm actually not too thrilled with it.

This wasn't even part of my question, but since I'm here I guess I'll ask anyway. Is anyone else only able to orgasm during sex while in a certain position? The only way I can is if my boyfriend is in a seated position and I straddle him. It doesn't happen if we do it any other way. I really hate it because I'd love to change things up a bit, but nothing else seems to work for me.

Thanks everyone.

Stroke?

Oct. 8th, 2006 11:58 pm

I don't know where to begin, so I guess I'll just start out with the basics.
I've had problems with migranes (+ auras) for about 5 years now.
I've been on many different types of BC for 3-4 years.
I brought up concerns with my mum about my migranes getting worse over the years, and wondered if this was only because of the birthcontrol's I've been on. After a while, I talked to my gyno about it and she said the BC shouldn't be causing migranes and told me although I SHOULD quit smoking, I shouldn't be at risk for a stroke.
This is well over a year ago.
She referred me to see a neurologist since I was worried.
Well, the nuero was a complete ass, basicaly ignored my questions, said I was paranoid and I don't need a MRI or CT scan...after telling me that 17 year old's can get strokes and she had a patient who was having minor strokes without knowing it.
So after all that I basically ignored my problems, even though I knew something wasn't right.
I've been dealing with my migranes the best I can, popping an excedrin wehn I get one.
Problem is, I've had a migrane EVERY day, all day.
And this friday, I was in the theatre with some friends, when the right side of my face started going numb, and I shrugged it off, until I couldn't feel my jaw or tongue.
I left the theatre, and was shaking, and trying really hard to be verbal with my friend, but I was confused and messing up my words, as well as leaning up against a wall to stay balanced.
That really scared me, and I've realized this has happened many times to me, but not as intense.

I also looked up stroke symptoms:
Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
Sudden, severe headache with no known cause

I'm really scared and no one seems to be taking me seriously.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank-you.
