Hello everyone! First post here.

I asked this over in [livejournal.com profile] iud_divas as well but I figured the more opinions I get the better I can know what to do from here.

I was just pregnant 6 weeks ago, had a beautiful baby girl. I decided I wanted to get an IUD put in (Mirena) because I can't do the pills or shot because of having a history with both. Also, being allergic to latex, it just seems to be the most logical choice.

So on Friday I went and had it put in (huzzah!) and have had minimal spotting and no cramping after the first few hours (and even that was very mild!) but tonight I got confused...

See, I never fully dropped my mucus plug, or I should say I DIDN'T drop my mucus plug, in my pregnancy (6 weeks ago), only diliated 3 cm and then had a c-section. Is it completely possible that the insertian of the IUD got some of the leftover mucus plug out? Because tonight going to the bathroom I went to the bathroom and I had (TMI I'm so sorry) bloody, yellow... snot... in the toilet paper. Kinda freaked me out but I checked my strings and they were in the same place.

So do you think this is possible? I mean, it's been quite a while but it's the only explination I can come up with. There was still no cramping, and no period... no movement in the strings or anything... so yeah. I'm just kinda confused and any suggestions (other than call the doctor, I plan on doing that on Tuesday!) or help would be appreciated :)

When I had my IUD inserted the same thing happened and still happens periodically but not nearly as much stuff comes out any more. My period also changed from thick-dark and ropey/clotty to thin-bright and no clots/cramps! I would hug my IUD if it were possible.

I had a lot of what looked like tissue and mucous coming out for the first week after my IUD was inserted, and I'm nulliparous...so I think it's normal. Lots of snot-looking stuff. So, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Seeing the doctor is always a good idea, of course, but don't fret too much in the mean time! ;)
