(1)So the purchase and arrival of the bottle of lube has gotten me to finally try using my diva cup again. It took a few tries, but i got it in. Not sure if it's completely popped open yet or not, though. I used the punch-down method, so the fold was at the front, but when i stick my finger in there to check, it seems to have a dent in the back?

I dunno, I couldn't quite get my fingers comfortably where they could grab onto and rotate the cup, so i'm wearing a pad as backup and trying it out for a while...

Also, I can definitely feel it... Partially, i'm sure, is because i haven't trimmed the stem. but a little bit can be felt pressing against my bladder, and i can't really tell if its pressing anywhere else. I really hope i didn't pinch my cervix (yeah, i know its in the back. i just can't feel where anything is, silly nerves -or lack thereof-) because i'd like this to be a relatively successful run.

Thoughts?

(2) When I was inserting and fishing around the DC, my fingers would come out of my vagina with a thick, chunky, brown discharge. I remember hearing about this several times but i don't remember anything i may have read about it (after all, i've always been abnormally lucky- why should something strange like that ever happen to me? :P )

So is brown just a normal color for first day menses, or do i need to get nervous?

Thanks!

Brown is a normal color for first day menses. I'm sorry I can't help you with your Diva Cup question, but good luck!

If it's got a dent, then it probably hasn't popped out right. I use a mooncup -I'm not sure how similar the techniques are. But if a divacup is like the mooncup, it shouldn't be anywhere near the cervix as it's really quite close to the vaginal opening. Keep practising is usually the best thing until it's in a place that's comfy and works and don't be nervous because you can't do any damange after all :)

Brown is normal. Sometimes I start off brown.

In my experience it should not have a dent as it is not fully open. Pull it back a bit until it opens completely and you can turn it around without a struggle. I always felt mine until I trimmed the stem. For me it was just trial and error. Good Luck
