Empty Gel Caps for YI/BV Treatment

So I just called my pharmacy and they treated me like sh*t; said they had never heard of such a "ridiculous" thing and then began to PRY why I would want the gel caps (probably insinuating I would be using them for illegal substances).

So where can I purchase the gel caps? And what size gel cap should I be purchasing?

Get your phone book out and look for a compounding pharmacy, which may have them. Or, check with your local natural foods store or Whole Foods market.

I found them at a natural foods store. I've read that it should be 600ml I think. The ones I've gotten from my campus pharmacist are a pretty good size...around 3/4inch long and about as big around as a pencil. From my experience, most pharmacists don't seem to know about boric acid pessaries...don't let them bug you too much.

I think you want size 00, and I found mine at the local health food store. They weren't that expensive, really; I think they were four bucks and change for a hundred capsules.

The YI Vulvapedia entry (http://www.vaginapagina.com/index.php?title=Yeast_Infection#OK.2C_I.E2.80.99ve_got_a_yeast_infection._How_do_I_treat_it.3F) says to use size 00 capsules when making vagina boric acid suppositories. WHen you find the gelcaps (yep, health store is a good place to check), see if you can find a "Capsule Machine" (http://www.botanical.com/products/learn/capsulemachine.html). It makes filling the caps MUCH easier. If you deal with YI very much, you will be glad you have extra. And you can use the machine for other herbals. I love mine.

(And as a side note, boric acid works FANTASTICALLY against YI, speaking from personal experience.)

No pressure to answer, but was it a national chain? You could call up the district headquarters to complain about the doodooheads in their pharmacy department, if it's a chain store.

I know these entries were ages ago.... but:

I've tried EVERYWHERE around where I live to find a store that sells empty gel caps. Recently I got BV and desperate for a solution. I've found that most Rite-Aids carry Boric Acid in the powder form. As for gel caps I went to CVS and bought Cranberry supplements: http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/catalog/shop_product_detail.jsp?filterBy=&skuId=122882&productId=122882&navAction=jump&navCount=3
for about 4-5 dollars. I emptied the cranberry powder into water and drank it (which is also known to help Urinary tracts and that kind of stuff)Then I used the empty capsules to fill with Boric Acid. So far its working great. Just throught I'd pass the word along.

If there's a nature's way anywhere near you, I know they carry empty capsules, in big bags, no questions asked.
