Hey there!
I've got a bit of a problem, I guess you could say. I'm on Diane-35 and typically I do 2-3 packs with no breaks so that I get my period every 6-9 weeks instead of every three. My doctor says this is alright and so I've been doing it for some time.
I had my "period" late in the month of August so I started a pack right after that.
I finished my last pack two Fridays ago (the 22nd of September - meaning I took my last pill Friday at 11pm) but I didn't get my pills until the following Monday (the 25th) and, as (sort of) expected I got my period on the 28th regardless of the hormones pumping through my veins.
So I figured I confused the heck out of my body, but continued to take my pills anyways expecting the period to run its course and then I'd continue on my normal schedule.
Only problem is, I't shte 8th (nearly the 9th) and I'm still on my period. It's very light, is brown, and rather ... stringy? Almost like dry, dead skin coated in brown blood. I know this sounds gross, sorry.
So I've got a few questions:
1. Is this something I should be worried about? Should I see a doctor?
2. If this has happened to anyone else before, how long did it last?
3. Am I protected against pregnancy now? I plan on seeing a Friend with Benefits sometime later this week (fingers crossed the curse is gone by then) and we don't typically use a condom
Thank you to anyone who can help!

3. The presence of absence of side effects (like breakthrough bleeding) are not an indication of whether or not the method is working for you. As long as you've been taking your pills correctly and aren't on any medications that could interfere with it, you're still as protected from pregnancy as you would be if you weren't experiencing this spotting.
