Well I started hurting worse last night so I told my mom and she rushed me to the doctor and they couldn't get a urine sample cause of the AZO but the doctor said it sounded like a classic UTI. So he prescribed some medicine and gave me a sample of 5 pills of an antibiotic and I started it last night and I feel much better! The urge to pee all the time has gone away and this morning I'm going to go get some cranberry juice and a bunch of water to drink all day. Thanks to everyone who responded :)

hello... i’m new, and i have a question that i have not seen addressed in the archive, faq, etc. like many people, i have extremely severe cramps. i am not looking for remedies; obviously the community offers many wonderful resources with suggestions. what i am wondering is whether i should see my doctor about my cramps. last night they woke me up, and i lay in bed writhing and crying for about an hour and a half before i could go back to sleep. i took 800mg (4 tabs) of ibuprofen, and it didn’t even touch the pain. my period is this bad nearly every month, especially since i got my tubes tied. i started when i was 11 (i am now 30), and have had debilitating cramps since i was 12 or 13. i used to be on the pill, and that made no difference, and i may try some other remedies, but i have little faith that they will work. should i seek professional help? i had always thought cramps were just one of those things, and there was nothing a doctor could do other than prescribe a more heavy-duty pain killer (i’ve actually tried stuff like darvocet and vicodin, but they don’t work as well as ibuprofen). but i can’t keep suffering this way. i am consuming tons of ibuprofen and frequently missing work - i’ve got to find a solution. should i make an appointment with my gyno or just keep trying various remedies and lifestyle changes (or both)? thanks!

i dont know if this is the right place to ask....but i figured i would give it a shot. i checked the archives but didnt see anything. I had a question about sex drive. im a 20 year old lesbian who has had 4 sexual partners(all female). recently i would say since i turned 19 or so i really have no sex drive i am currently in a long distance relationship so am not having sex, however we do have phone sex and stuff but i really am never in the mood. i dont know if this could be related to depression in any way. i had been on and off antidepressants since i was 14 until 18. and had no problem with my sex drive now it seems non existent, even when i am with my girlfriend i still wont even be in the mood. But i really have no want or desire to masturbate or to even put in the effort to try to get off. i dont know has anyone else expericenced a period of low sex drive. nothing sexually terrible has happened to me in this time. thanks.

Hey - this kinda is and kinda isn't off-topic. I'm looking for some help. I have a line of vegan lip balm called Pussy Pucker Pots. It's vagina-centric (though it's for your facial libs, not your labia) - with names like Vanilla Vulva, Lemon Labia, Clitoris Citrus, etc... I started the line based sort of on the same principles as the Vagina Monologues, to get women talking about their sexuality without shame. At any rate, I'm wondering if any of you out there know of any feminist bookstores or other kitschy shops out there in your local area that might consider carrying the line of balm? It's very pro - slick tins, glossy labels, each tin is sealed and it's all hand made by me. I'm just trying to get them out there, but it's hard to find the small feminist stores who either don't have websites or don't have an advertising budget. It's really helped out our local store - they sell like hotcakes, which helps bring in more $$ for their operating costs. Anyway - thanks in advance! If you have names and addresses of stores, please send them to info@pussypuckerpots.com - or just leave them here. Thanks!

Hello! I've never commented in this community, so I'm mainly a lurker. I posted this bit in my journal earlier, because I have a special fondness for Colin Farrell. ;) Mactavish suggested that I link it here. Hopefully you will get a kick out of it just as much as I did.

An excerpt from a Colin Farrell interview in Playboy magazine, March 2003:

"Q: What makes you most aware of the difference between Irish girls and American girls?

A: Fucking Brazilian bikini wax, for a start. I ate a lot of pussy at home, but I never saw a vagina until I came here; they were all covered at home. Girls are not as hugely into grooming at home as they are here, which is not a fucking problem at all-- just different flavors of the same lollipop. In Ireland, there's not so much importance placed on the physical appearance referencing what someone is like as a human being. In Ireland, birds are all clean -- it's just that a lot of them have big, hairy pussies. In Ireland, we think that to have the prettiest toes in the world and the most beautifully groomed pussy does not an interesting, generous, intelligent person make."

HAHAHA. I keep laughing at that lollipop bit. Eeeee, how crude yet so funny. How can you not like the guy?

I have a UTI. Should I abstain from sex until it is cleared up?

I had a Mirena IUD inserted about six weeks ago, and about a week after that I started having severe pain at my right ovary. My doctor sent me for a sonogram, and found out it was an ovarian cyst. He told me that cysts are common and harmless, and that this one was probably caused by a combination of the IUD insertion, and from stopping the hormonal birth control that I had been taking before I got the IUD.

According to my doctor, ovarian cysts are usually not painful, and they nearly always go away on their own after a month or two. However, mine is incredibly painful. The pain has lasted for over a month now, and has not gotten any better.

I did some web searches on the subject, and everything I read indicates that ovarian cysts are usually not this painful. Am I just unlucky, or is there a possibility that it's worse than just a normal cyst? My doctor told me to go for another sonogram after two cycles have passed, to see if the cyst has gone away on its own. I'm about to have my second period since the pain started, and I know that it hasn't gone away.

Has anyone else had severe pain from an ovarian cyst? Did it go away on its own, and how long did that take? What happens if it doesn't go away? I know that surgery is an option.

Also, does anyone have suggestions on how to deal with the pain? I have tried ibuprofen and heating pads, and nothing helps. I think the cyst is pinching a nerve or something, because it often feels like my whole leg is numb or on fire. I sometimes have trouble walking. I started crying at work today because it hurt so much.

I have been getting very depressed the last couple weeks because of the pain. This is the worst pain I've ever had in my life. I rarely go out anymore because it hurts so much - I just come home from work and go to bed. I don't think I can deal with this for another month or more, it just feels like it's never going to end.

I would appreciate any advice or suggestions.

Clarissa
