well like most infections they do pass with time. most women cant put up with the itching that long though. they usually go away when you get you period.
I would assume that they would go away on their own. What would women have done before there were medicines to stop the itching and making yeast infections go away?
I think they can go away on their own, but it's not really a good idea to just let them run their course. It's not only more annoying and painful, but if it hasn't cleared up totally, it could possibly still be sitting in your system. it's always good to have a doctor check it out just to be safe.
Did it go away when your period started? They usually do because the whole point of mentruation (aside from sloughing off the uterine lining) is to recalibrate everything down there, so ostensibly your good bacteria would come back naturally. But as this (http://www.msu.edu/user/eisthen/yeast/) website says, sometimes there is enough yeast still there that the infection can come back after your period is over.
i went to the gyno about it and he said it was a yeast infection. i am clean of STI's. plus i am in a monogamous relationship with my fiance (who was a virgin when he met me and vice versa).
I usually get an over growth of yeast due to hormone fluctuations (I tend to stay away from the term "infection" because I personally think its a misrepresentation of what's really going on down there :)) which disturb the natural balance of bacteria - generally I get yeasty about a week before my period and as soon as onset starts its gone. I do find though that when I start feeling a bit itchy if I increase my intake of yogurt (I don't fully understand the connection - i.e. intestinal track versus vagina canal-even though I read tons on it) cut down on sugar and drink cranberry juice (unsweetened)everything is a lot more comfortable.
