i know this isn't about vaginas but it's close enough and the other community specifically for this doens't have very many people and i don't know if they respond so i'm asking here. and it's a breast question and it's serious.

hey i have a really big question. ok my boobs have been hurting for like a couple months now...and i mean really hurting. i figured it was because i was getting bigger or something but i'm still basically the same size. so i tried to check for lumps and i've been doing that but i don't even know what i'm feeling. i feel things but i don't know if it's jus muscle. and i tried to just where t-shirts under shirts to see if maybe that would help. but they hurt so bad and i' afraid to go to the doctor cuz i don't want them to tell me i have something considering a couple family members have cancer. should i just go to the doctor or not worry

You need to go to the doctor, especially if you don't know what you are looking for and you don't know how to find lumps. If you go the doctor it would make everything less stressful, and could prevent something bad from happening. Hope this helped~

My breasts hurt a lot every time they went through a growing spurt, even if it was a slow spurt. Might just be something like this.

At any rate, now's as good a time as any to learn to do breast self exams. :)

If your proportins are like that perhaps you are a good canidate for a breast reduction? Are you experiencing back/shoulder pain too? It's something to consider.

105 lb. and you're a 36? I weigh 111 and I'm a 32.. unless you've got a really big ribcage, you're probably wearing the wrong size... I know they're not readily available everywhere, but try a 32DD or a 34D.

a C in 36 is about equal to a D in 34, and a DD in 32. cup sizes are not the same for every number size. it's proportioned, somehow... confusing, yes, but that's how it's done. my boobs are not that huge, either, but since I'm so skinny, and wear a 32 in ribcage size, I ended up in a D. if you think 32DD sounds scary you could try a 32D, but if you wear a C in 36, there's no way you'd fit into a C in a smaller ribcage size.

yeah, I had no idea either! I went through a lot of sizes that didn't fit right before I found the one that did...

I found a lump last year that was extremely painful (they couldn't get to it until this year because I was pregnant) apparently it was just normal breast tissue that was growing. It felt like a lump and was painful, but it was nothing. Also, cysts (benign) are extremely common in young women. It could also be your bra, right now my armpit is hurting because my nursing bra wires go up pretty high. Ask the doctors to examine you, ask if they feel if an ultrasound is necessary. More then likely it is nothing to really worry about, since the average age of diagnosis for breast cancer is 65.

i would say there's no harm it getting it checked out. it could be anything from hormonal changes (my breasts--38DD--hurt so bad i won't take off my bra or lay on my stomach sometimes) to swollen lymph nodes. but because of the cancer in your family it never hurts to know how to do a self-breast exam now. your doctor could show you how to do one, and tell you what you would be looking for. you're at an age where doing one every month isn't truly neccessary but it's helpful to be able to say "that wasn't there 2 months ago" or "that doesn't feel right"

and because you have large boobs on a small frame i would guess it's also possible that gravity is just kicking in. from personal experience, i went about 6 months with this cup size being abnormally--almost freakishly perky--and then they slowly started to give in to gravity. and that hurt because skin and muscle was rearranging itself to reposition my boobs, basically.

it could be any number of things, most of which are super minor. but it never hurts to err on the side of safety and your mom would probably agree that it's not worth sparing HER worry to instead worry yourself so badly. that's what mommies do--even when they have their own crisis. they're still mommies. they still want you to be healthy.

best of luck, much love
katy

Are you on any kind of birth control? because that can cause your breasts to be extremely sensitive. If you aren't, then i'd also suggest going to the doctor. It can't hurt, and if something is seriously wrong, don't you want them to catch it now? I would.

you took the words right outta my...um...keyboard?
if something hurts, badly and for a prolonged period of time, your body is telling you something is not right.
re: the birth control thing, every time i switch birth control pills, my breasts are sooo painful for at least 3 months while my body is adjusting to the hormones. i'm a 36A, so there's not a whole lot of boob to hurt- i can't imagine how bad it could be for y'all who have commented with C/D/DD cups. yeow.

Since you have such a skinny frame and large breasts, it is really really important that you wear a good supportive bra. Your body isn't able to give your back all the suport it needs. Not wearing bras is going to cause alot more harm in the long run. If it feels better to not wear a bra, then I'd say you aren't wearing the right type of bra.

Go to a bra shop, they'll know what you need and can help you find the perfect bra. I did this about 2 years ago and have never been happier with my breasts!

I have rather large breasts too, and I had lots of pain. Shooting pins and needle pain coming from the inside of my breast out. The doctor told me that it was the weight of my breasts puling the cartilege away from my ribs. Another reason to wear good bras! He also told me to take evening primrose oil every day. This is a wonder ful thing! I can't live without it now. It is a herb and very very safe, so you might want to try that too. It helps with the lumps, too.

Also, if you are drinking alot of caffiene, you need to cut that out too. Major badness for breasts, big cause of breast pain and increase in size!

hope this helps, but remember mileage may vary and talk to your doctor! Especially since your family history, it is important to be honest with the doctor.

Did a quick search on the EPO, and it does alot:
The Benefits of Evening Primrose Oil
EPO has been shown to be beneficial for a wide range of conditions.
Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) – has been shown to eradicate swollen abdomen and breast discomfort as well as reducing irritability and depression.

Eczema and other skin disorders – available on prescription for eczema Psoriasis may be helped by EPO and Fish Oils.

Cholesterol and Blood Pressure – has been shown to reduce high serum cholesterol and blood pressure, but may take several weeks or longer to achieve.

Rheumatoid Arthritis – sufferers have discontinued use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs after supplementation, but it is more effective when taken in conjunction with fish oils.

Alcoholism – may make withdrawal easier, and reduce post-drinking depression.

Immune System – low levels of essential fatty acids may stop the action of interferon, and body’s natural virus killer.

Other conditions – Obesity, Benign Breast Disease, Childhood Hyperactivity and Schizophrenia have all been shown to be helped by EPO supplementation.
