Wisdom from a surprising source
Aug. 23rd, 2003 04:12 amIf you're not familiar with the site rotten.com, it's the place that posts all the autopsy, police report, hospital emergency room, and "Hey look! Dead guy!" photos. Plus things like the "fuck of the month club". (Think elderly porn, morbid obesity porn, some guy jacking off onto a slice of toast... THAT sort of thing.)
You know, the sort of place that you would NOT expect woman-positive commentary to come from.
Well. Rotten also has a "library", a bunch of pages of information on various topics. Unsurprisingly, the "sex" topic is well-populated. And here's where it gets surprising.
From their article on designer vaginas:
No one thinks it odd that a man with three kids, a mortgage, mounting credit card debt, issues at work, and a lack of quality "alone time" with his wife might not be as horny (i.e. "hard") as he was as a newlywed. If he needs a little more coaxing to get in the mood and get it all the way up, so what – "How about some oral sex, honey?" But if his wife has the same trouble, for the same reasons, then one or both partners may assume there’s something "wrong" with her vagina – especially if she has borne children.
Or from their article on elongated labia:
Just as each woman's face is unique ( before being pummelled into uniformity by hot waxing, liposuction, botox, cosmetics and collagen injection), so too is each woman's labia unique, with marked variations in size, shape, color, and even texture. While some are certainly small and pink, others are long, ruffled, and dark. Some are long and thin, some are lumpy and thick.
Or the article on female genital mutilation, where they make very clear how different it is from male circumcision in a manner so graphic and awful that I am NOT gonna quote it.
It's very well-written and very interesting. And if you happen to run into men, online or in real life, who need convincing about these topics... perhaps having rotten.com to back you up may help a little, hmm?
