hey everyone! i've been a reader of this journal, but never a member--so...hello :)
i have a question...what is it when you have dry skin on the exterior part of ur vagina? i've had this problem since high school (3 yrs ago), way before i was sexually active, so i don't think it's a disease. i use lotion every once in a while, but its constantly itching...and when i itch in the shower, i usually scratch so hard it bleeds.
has anyone ever heard of this? or have any advice?

Ow!

Okay I must be completely inept with the divacup or way too fleshy and sensitive.

2nd day I've tried to put it in, and upon doing to full turn to pop it open, I managed to slice a part of my fleshy vulva with my short nails. Yesterday I sliced the inner labora, and today I apparently sliced part of the fleshy covering of my urethra.

Argh.

So I guess I won't be able to use the divacup very well if at all. :-/

It burns. *sigh*

Hi everyone. I just joined today, and I read thru pages of postings here, and didn't really find an answer to my question. It may come off as making my boyfriend sound horrible, or make me sound icky, but he's really not, and I'm not either...it's just this one issue we (I) have:
He rarely ever has oral sex with me. And I do it often for him. He says he just has a really sensitive nose, and the smell puts him off. :( This worries me, because I use feminine wash and bathe on a regular basis, so I'm pretty sure I'm healthy. I was wondering if there is a better wash out there that can make the scent...I dunno..something he might prefer...like citrus...(my mother pretty much never explained things to me when I was younger and had to discover the joys of menstruation, wash, and sex all by myself without any direction, and I don't really have any friends to consult about this). I just really miss oral sex. My last boyfriend was all about it, and never seemed to mind my scent. So I figure it must be an issue of the current one.

Sorry if this was covered some place that I missed. And thanks for taking the time to read. :)

oh man.

Am I crazy, or am I ovulating?

See, I take Marvelon so technically I ought not be, right? But I've had the whole dischargy stuff over the past few days (it was maybe a little itchy too, but now that my period started, it doesn't bug me at all, I'm just a little sore from rubbing when it was itchy) and I could have sworn that I felt the pinch that people sometimes say they feel which is supposedly what you get when you ovulate (I don't recall feeling it ever before but since I never knew what it was until I read this community, even if I had, I might have just passed it off as "oh, little pain, oh it's passed" and before I started taking the pill - going on 3 years ago?, I never had my period regularly anyways so it's not like it would have happened consistently enough for me to even correlate it).

But, given that I take the pill, shouldn't I not be feeling these things? I'm just a little confused. Or does my body mimic things even though they aren't really happening?

(Hopefully I worded that well so that it makes sense....)

This is a rant, it is only a rant, and since it has to do with menstruation I’m putting it behind a cut in case anyone’s at work.

(It’s really not bad, I’m just endlessly surprised by ”my )

Sitting around the lunch table today, myself and two other female co-workers. (Most of my office is women, we usually eat lunch in a large group together but today is a very busy day so many people were out of the office.) We got into a discussion about polygamy, which continued when a male co-worker sat down and joined us. He asked something about what happens if in a polygamous family, it's your night to be with your spouse, and it's during your period. We talked about menstrual protection products, and how you don't have to have sex just cause you're together. And this led us to a discussion on childbirth, complete with graphic descriptions by my boss who had a baby in April. And this led to breastfeeding, at which point, male co-worker asked "How do you make the hole for the milk to come out of."

Needless to say, the three of us could only look at him, in various stages of amusement, horror and pity.

I usually take my pill around 9pm, but I forgot last night and only realized it this morning while brushing my teeth. I took it right away and plan on taking the Wed. pill at the regular time. This is the only pill I've missed since I started BC.

Question is this: I'm not sexually active yet, but that'll probably change come December. Is one skipped pill in Sept/Oct going to make a difference in the overall effectiveness come December? I'm a stickler for knowing these things. Thanks!

my roommate has gone for a pap smear twice already. the first time they didn't get enough cells so she went back again, and the same thing happened. she just talked to her gyno today who said she didn't have enough endocervical cells. what does this mean? (besides "..she doesn't have enough cells" ;) ) ..they said because she isn't sexually active and not a smoker blahblah, it's not a big deal and she can just wait until next year for her next pap smear.

has anyone else has this happen to them and do they know why it happens? if you have any answers for her she'd really appreciate it. thank you.

Wow, spend hours trying to make the site more efficient and then see what you get. Looks like some of you are saying you hate the new layout. (Go to our main journal page to check it out if you haven't yet.)

Here's the deal. )

I always read that one symptom of yeast infections is a "cottage cheese like" discharge.

For those of you who have had experience with yeasties, how accurate is this description? Does it actually look like cottage cheese?

I'm wondering this because I sometimes get thick-ish yellow/white discharge that worries me, but it doesn't particulary look like cottage cheese to me (esp. the yellow), so I don't know if it's just supposed to a description of the consistency or a literal description.

Thanks!

yellow discharge and mild itching.

yeast infection?

it'd be the first ever. and you'd think i'd pick up some tips along the way, but i just wanna make sure this kind of discharge is normal. also, a new kind of smell. not pleasant.

what treats it most quickly, in your opinion?

Hi, i have a question. I'm on birthcontrol (orthotricyclen) and i've been taking it consistently, never missing pills. my boyfriend and i almost always use condoms. however i'm several days late and have not skipped a period in years.
i'm afraid there is a chance i'm pregnant b/c i know that's possible even on birth control. what i was wondering is, if i skip the sugar pills in the pack, and go on to the effective ones, will the possible pregnancy be expelled? and is this safe?
please help, i'm really worried.

Well this is something that has been happening so long I forgot about it until recently when I bought a really cute pair of lacey panties. All the crotches of my panties turn wierd colors. Like the black lace ones I bought turned purple and dark pink turns orange. Im not talking about discharge or anything. The actual fabric fades. I asked my mom what she thought it was and she said she had no idea but said that her secretions have actually burned someone before. Maybe it's a wierd high acidic thing? Anyone else have either of these things happen? any ideas? Im not sexually active at the moment so I don't think its related but any feedback would be cool.
