this is a non-urgent, rather silly question but one i thought was worth asking anyway.

i just recently broke up with my boyfriend (sad face) and i started taking my next months worth of pills really just for the hell of it, mostly because it makes my periods a bit better. it is however, a stronger dosage i believe (ortho tri-cyclin rather than tri-cyclin lo) and it isn't helping my mood swings that i'm already having from the breakup and school stress.

i really want to just stop the pills even though i have about 2 weeks left, but will the effects go away and will i have a bad period? should i just stick it out for the next 2 weeks? is it bad to stop the dosage in the middle of the month or does it not matter?

this is probably unanswerable because every body is different, but i started to realize that perhaps it isn't a good idea to be taking hormones when i really don't need to be.

So, I started dating this guy a few months ago. We're monogamous and STD-free, and I'm on the Pill, but the first few times we had sex we used a condom. No worries, except it was a brand I hadn't used before, and the lube on them appeared to cause a thrush infection (I'd never had thrush before, and that's the only thing I can think of that could have triggered it). Because I'd never had thrush before, and had never really educated myself on it, I didn't quite realise what was going on until about a month later, at which point I went to my doctor and she gave me one of those combination pills/creams to treat it. I took as directed and the infection cleared up just fine.

All dandy, except for the fact that since then the discharge from my vagina has changed in smell and taste. I don't quite know how to describe it, as obviously none of you know what I used to smell like, lol, but it's much less sweet, more bitter, and somewhat unpleasant now (previously the boy and I both enjoyed the taste, and now neither of us do, really). It's not a huge deal, really, it just confuses me, as my diet hasn't changed at all, and nor have my personal hygiene habits.

So my question is, can a thrush infection cause a permanent change in the smell/taste of vaginal discharge? Or is something more potentially sinister going on? I've just moved house, so am still in the process of registering for a doctor, and if this could be a big deal I'm going to be more insistent about getting an appointment soon rather than just waiting it out.

What are the best precautions to take to prevent a yeast infection/bv? I just started nuvaring on Saturday and I'm feeling kind of swampy down there. I've never had these kind of problems before, so this is a different experience for me.
Thank you in advance.

BAD MONTH!

So I'm on Logynon ED Pill, so far this month I've missed 3 different day's pills, almost 4. I'm not to worried, from what I know I'm fully covered unless I miss 2 in a row, but I haven't (almost). And if the unthinkable does happen and I fall pregnant it will be amazing haha. No its not that big a deal really.

What I have to ask is I read about alot of people getting BB when they take their pill even an hour late, where as like I said I missed 3 different pills nothing happened.

Anyone heard of Logynon? I usually skip my period every other month, however seeings as I've missed 3 pills I think I'll have it this month.

Abortion

I am fairly certain I'm pregnant. A few more days will tell for sure.. when I can accurately test.

Can anyone give me their experience with the medication abortion (the abortion pill they give you at the clinic). I am teetering in between the surgical abortion, which would be quick and effective, or the medication abortion, which I've heard some people say is distinctly less painful and less invasive.

Does anyone have experience with the medication abortion?

Is it possible to get the Nova T in the USA?  My family is allergic to nickel something fierce, and my sister is ready to stop having babies for a while (she just had her second recently).  We also live in the US.   I think it would be nice to have the option of an IUD without hormones, but the nickel allergy isn't agreeable.  In order for us to have Nova T' iuds (copper with a silver core rather than the Paraguard with a nickel core), would we have to travel to Canada or the UK, or can a US doctor order/Rx a Nova T and insert it in the US?

Or, if I/she were to travel to the UK or Canada, would I/she be able to get a Nova T since we would be tourists?  And, assuming we can get the iud, can a US doctor take care of the follow up/maintenance type stuff and eventual removal?

And, just out of annoyance, why the blazes isn't the Nova T, or any silver cored IUD available in the US?  Nickel is a very common allergen and I think it's on a list of substances that are toxic to people, yet it's medical equipment - even staples!  That's just not cool, man.  So not cool.

Right, so I just got this really nice little toy for myself (which I loooove) fully expecting it to come with instructions on how to keep it clean and what not.

I was sadly disappointed on that front. So, how do I clean a vibrator?

Also, I'm on NuvaRing, can I still use it when the ring is in? (Today's my removal day, that's why I tried it out~)

Q1- So I started treating BV with boric acid about a week ago or so... I was mostly experiencing a burning sensation as a symptom from the BV... I feel as if the boric acid is helping, but how do I know when to stop using it? I'm now having some irritation from the acid... but I can tell it's different than the original BV irritation... So how long do folks usually use the boric acid treatment?

Q2- Aunt flo is visiting... and she brought a whole lot of clots with her... Does anyone know why or know of a good resource to find out why some flows are more clotty than others? Because seriously... this is really pissing me off!

I have a question:
I just got a prescription for Sprintec. Right now I'm on the Nuva ring, but for various reasons, I have to switch (bad side effects). The doctor was a touch vague on how to make the switch. She said to just wait a month, and then take the pill, but use backup for a month. How correct is this?
Is there a way that I can just switch straight to the pill? How long does it take for the pill to be effective? I thought I knew my stuff, and then she just confused me.

I was looking on Snopes.com and found an article saying that a Chinese hair-band manufacturer is using condoms as elastics in hair-bands. It's not clear, though, whether these are just defective, never-used condoms or if they indeed are previously used. Snopes mentions the risk of spreading STIs if the latter proves to be the case.

Now, I'm not posting this just to be like, "Ooooh, looking scary ideas on snopes is fun!" I'm posting this here because I'm wondering, how likely is it, really, to spread STIs that way? I would think that any bacteria or virus would die in that condition. Don't get me wrong-- even if the risk of spreading STIs that way is low, the thought of having a used condom as a hair-band elastic is still yucky!

Just curious!

My new boyfriend and I just started fooling around, and he's a little freaked out about the fact that when he's done fingering me, my juices dry up on his hand and it sorta almost looks like dried up elmer's glue or something. There's no weird smell, nothing out of the ordinary, but he said he's creeped out that it does that. (Keep in mind, I was the first girl he's ever fingered). Does anyone even know what I'm talking about, and if so, is it normal?

So I don't know what's going on with my body.

My stomach has been hurting and my back has really been hurting today (like it does when I have my period). I've been going to the bathroom so much in the past two hours and my stomach is killing me. I keep having to poo...and I've had a lot of fiber today but I don't know if that's the reason. I usually pee for a millisecond and then there is this really sharp pain. This most recent time I went to the bathroom, I'm bleeding. What's the deal?

I'm on birth control and just had my period last week. I'm on the fourth BC pill this month (went back on my BC Sunday after finishing my sugar pills).

Anyone have any idea what's going on? is this just indigestion or could it be something else? I understand this is gross so I apologize.

Yesterday I had my contraceptive implant in my arm removed and replaced.

I had my first one in 3 years and 7 months(even though I haven't relied on it since last December). I believe it was still working because it stopped my periods completely, and they didn't restart after is was meant to become ineffective.

How long would you think before the new one becomes effective? I remember when I first had it injected, the doctor said it should be effective almost immediately, but if I was worried I could continue on the pill for a week to make certain.

Also, having the implant out was a lot trickier than I had been led to believe. I ended up in a lot of pain, and it felt like in the end, he pretty much ripped it out of my arm. I can still remember the squelch sound it made as it came out, and the pain with it. The Consultant said it was because the original guy put it in too deep. However, I'm sure my implant was originally closer to the skin than the Consultant put it back in yesterday. Could it just be because I lost a load of weight(Healthily with exercise) and then gained it all back on when I had a car accident which prevented me from exercising as much?

Sorry it's so long, and thanks in advance for any help I get. :D

So my last period was on August 24 but that month I delayed my period by 5 days by taking an extra 5 active pills (going into my next pack) so I took 26 active pills straight and then went on my 7 inactive pills.  During that month up to when I started my period I was sexually active but always using condoms or spermicide as backup and have not had sex since that period.

However, this month I have had some pregnancy like symptoms that have me really worried such as breast "tenderness" on the edges of my breast if that makes sense.  Like I can pinch my nipples all I want and it doesn't hurt but when I try to push my breasts together, the outside edges feel "tender" if that makes any sense (sorry for the very odd examples) and I have also had some cramping in my abdominal area.  Should I be worried?? Because I definitely am even though I haven't had sex since like August 22 or something like that.

So, this book called Medical Common Sense by Dr. Edward Foote came up in one of my classes yesterday. It's a medical book published the 1860's that was censored because it contained information about contraception. So, naturally, I looked it up because who doesn't want to know what kind of contraceptive advice they were giving in the 1860's?

It turns out Dr. Foote invented a device called "The Electro-Magnetic Preventive Machine," (which you can read about at the bottom of page 379.)

Basically, Dr. Foote's theory is that sometimes "there is too great a disparity between [the sexual partners'] electrical conditions, in consequence of which the womb is too greatly excited to retain the seed of the male." So hooking the woman up to some kind of electro-magnetic machine is sure to prevent conception. All very scientific. He even promises that there will be no painful shocks!

I thought y'all might like that.

Okay, so is there a natural way to lighten my flow because it is really heavy and disgusting. Like, if I go to the bathroom and go to wipe, i have to wait forever just so i can stand up and be comfortable. Or, do I just have to live with it?

Thank you guys!

So I have an issue that I can certainly use some advice on.

I've been with my boyfriend for a year and a half. Great relationship, love him very much, all that. However, we haven't had sex in eight months. The reason is that I had gotten off the Pill, and I'm so, so scared about possibly becoming pregnant if I have sex without it. I can't even trust just condoms. My boyfriend understands my beliefs and respects them, but I can tell that it sometimes bothers him although he would never say it to me. We do try to have fun in other ways besides full-on intercourse, but sometimes, it just isn't the same.

So I'm wondering, am I really being paranoid over nothing? Am I doing the right thing? I started a new job not too long ago and am not eligible for benefits, so I really can't afford Birth Control Pills right now.  I know that I wouldn't be able to provide for a baby in case something did happen, which is why I'm resisting temptation all the time...but is it worth it? I sometimes lose sleep wondering if my boyfriend is one day going to get so frustrated that he'll just leave me or get his kicks with someone else...

I guess I just wonder if I'm worrying over nothing and if there is anyone else who is maybe going through a similar situation...and how do they get through it?

OK I am just wondering, because I am a curious person, lol but if you play around with someone that has an std, and let them go down on you or you go down on them, can you still get an std and if you do get one, would it be possible to not know that you have it, after 2yrs when it happen, and you are married now,  and neither one of you are having problems? I get to thinking about things and just think to ask about it, because a person I know is in this situation, and i was wondering about it after them telling me about it.. :)
