Right, so I just got this really nice little toy for myself (which I loooove) fully expecting it to come with instructions on how to keep it clean and what not.

I was sadly disappointed on that front. So, how do I clean a vibrator?

Also, I'm on NuvaRing, can I still use it when the ring is in? (Today's my removal day, that's why I tried it out~)

I use hot, soapy water. But I wouldn't recommend throwing it in a bunch of water if yours is not waterproof. Do you know if it's waterproof, or can you find out somehow?

Haha, I don't know why I didn't think yours came with a box. Like you picked it up at Goodwill or something.

There's my "duh" moment of the day.

I wipe it off with hot water and some soap when I'm done and keep it in a little box where it can stay clean between uses

They ALSO sell dildo/vibrator cleaner, but I don't know how necessary it is

(Also Icon love! :) )

What is it made out of?

Depending upon the materials and it's intended use (is it insertable, etc.), that can change the best way to clean it.

I wash mine with hot water and antibacterial hand soap. Some, depending on the material, are dishwasher safe. If it doesn't say or you don't know, don't do it!

Maybe you can look for it online and see if it has instructions listed?

The one I insert, I was it with hot water and soap. The one I use just on my clit, I don't wash. But I don't share it with anyone else either. If you plan on sharing anything, always wash it between uses, and maybe even use a condom.

I use my vibrator with my ring in. You can take it out of you want, but only for a max of 3 hours. You can have sex with it in, too, so I don't really see much of a problem. :)

On a side note, keep all sex toys out of reach from puppies. My dog chewed BOTH of mine up. I was a very sad Kat for a really long time.

Also - If you ever get one that isn't waterproof and you'd like it to be... Wrap that puppy in an unlubed condom, tie it off and go to town!

Why haven't I ever thought of that!

To the OP:
Be careful about whether or not it's waterproof. I was told by a shop owner that a lot of vibes claiming to be waterproof just slip a rubber ring in the closure and call it a day, and that's it's not a very foolproof system. Unless it's a high quality vibe, I might not risk submerging it in water. (The shower is always good, though! :D)

I clean mine with this most of the time:

And then I often rinse it with water after a couple minutes, cause I don't like the idea of something antibacterial going in my vag.

Don't use soap.
I am a Pure Romance consultant, I sell sex toys for a living, and I can tell you soap is about the worst thing you could use. It harbors bacteria, and you never know exactly what's in it. My rule of thumb is, if you wouldn't douche with it, DON'T use it for cleaning up a toy.

As the person above me mentioned, there are cleaners specifically made for toys. I'd invest in one of those long before I'd use hot soapy water. We sell them too, (http://www.pureromance.com/EC_ProductView.aspx?categoryID=26&pid=503) but there are many to choose from.

If you have anymore questions about cleaning care, feel free to ask.

(If you or anyone else buys that, my consultant ID is 29008... just sayin'. lol)

Oh and about the ring, you can use it when it's in, or take it out like the other person above said. Totally safe. I was on the ring for a couple years.

Hope that helped!

I have a non water proof rabbit knock-off (and I loooove it) and I simply wash it with plain soap and water.

I am also on the ring and have never had a problem using it with the ring in. Just like sex, yes?

in addition to the info already stated:
goodvibes.com and babesintoyland.com both have care and cleaning pages that describe best practices for various materials, they also sell toy-friendly cleaning products. and toys, but you knew that.
