hi, ladies. i posted a while back about persistent yeast infections and how my doctors never listened to me but the medicine never helped. well, anyway, i went to the doctor for what i thought was another one of those stupid yeast infections. i was very persistent, made him listen to me, and asked that he check to make sure i didn't have BV instead of a YI, since the treatments were never working. lo and behold, BV it is. so i'm on antibiotics twice a day and am taking probiotics and acidophilus capsules to help ward off any potential YI i get from the medicine.

the doctor also tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea but those results obviously do not come back right away. i've been vaginally swabbed regarding yeast infections several times in the past five to six months, and at least one other time by the same doctor i had last night. would they have tested me for chlamydia and gonorrhea each time? doctors never told me i had either one of those infections and if i didn't have them then i definitely shouldn't have them now since i have had the same sexual partner for the last five months.

some more details here with potentially triggering text )

the last time that happened was five nearly six months ago. i'm involved with someone who i love very much and who loves me. we are serious about the relationship and are making some serious plans in that aspect. but, after all this BV and talk of STIs with my doctor, i'm now worried that i'm infected with either chlamydia or gonorrhea or HPV. the fact is, in all likelihood, i don't have either of the first two, but i'm very worried about the last. i know that i could have gotten it from my first boyfriend (before the rape) since he'd had sex with partners before me. however, the last sexual contact i had with him was over a year ago, and i've had a pap since then, and nothing came back abnormal. also, i know that HPV can lie dormant in the body for months or years after exposure, so it's possible that even my current partner could have given it to me, if i have it. and it's possible i might not ever show it or that it might show in twenty years or something.

is it true that there's really no test for HPV in men? i read that on one of the links in the sidebar of this community.

lastly, i'm afraid to talk to my boyfriend about it. i'm very nervous that i do have it. and if i have it he probably has it as we have a lot of sex and sexual contact. and i'm nervous that if i tell him i have it he is going to break up with me, even if there's no way to be sure that i didn't get it from him.

i just need some moral support and some advice on how to communicate this stuff with my partner without having him freak out. he flipped his shit when i finally fully explained about the rape and so i'm very scared that the same thing will happen again about HPV or chlamydia or gonorrhea.

So, I started HBC (Necon 1/35) this past Sunday. I also quit smoking at the same time. For the past couple of days I've felt downright BAD. My heart feels like it's racing, I've got a strange choked up nauseated feeling in my chest and I'm jittery, jumpy, and cranky as hell. I'm not sure if this is the HBC or the lack of nicotine that's doing this. I take my pill every day at 10:30. (Side question, is this a good time of day to take it? Does it matter?) Yesterday I got the jittery, throw-uppy feeling around 4:30-5:00, as I was leaving work. Today, I got it all of a sudden RIGHT NOW OH MY GOD. Thirty minutes after taking the pill. I've noticed that both times it came on not soon after something stressful at work got to me. How soon after taking my pill will I begin to feel like vomiting? Could the symptoms be stress induced as well? Would nicotine gum help or make things worse?

I know it's nothing to be worried about, it'll go away, and it's to be expected... just curious, I think.

Okay, I'm kinda pissed off right now. I'm only on day 15 of my birth control and I'm spotting again.

Cut for length. )

Ready for a story of mystery, intrigue and danger?

I would look elsewhere.

Four months ago I was put on birth control. My intention was to regulate my crazy period and for the no-preggers thing. Also, the first day of my period would always mean extremely bad cramps and I had the hope the BC would stop it. Here is what has happened in those four months:

My period now comes about once every two or so weeks. No, not monthly. Bi-monthly. Not only does it come randomly with no warning, but it is accompanied by constant cramps, the kind that keep me from being able to function. I reguarly am disturbed from sleep by these things and I can't do anything to stop them -- no over the counter pain killer has yet been able to cause them to stop, only to slow them until they come back with a vengeance an hour later.

I am constantly spotting, have random, out of the blue cramps. I got my period last night even though I had it from August 19th to August 27. Yes, an eight day period with knee-buckling cramps when my periods only used to last five days at the max. The blood was bright red, much redder than my normal period blood and I missed my first class today because I have been up since five crying with pain.

I got this stuff through the military. I called a month ago when I was told my prescription for the next three months was ready and asked to be put on something else, to come in and get a check-up and was told rudely that I was to wait until the end of this prescription refill at which point they'd fit me in whenever.

I am in so much pain and wondering if being able to have sex with 99% less fear is really worth being laid up for seven days. I'm on low-dose Loestrin if that helps.

So I have a diaphragm and have used it fine the first two times. This time it's stuck. It's been in for close to 12 hours now. I can feel the rubber middle, but can't get ahold of the ring. I've tried bearing down and haven't had any luck.

Any suggestions? I'm getting really nervous.

Ok... I don't get all pissy and whiny and all that before my period. But AFTER??? Holy hell. Avoid me like the plague. I am a bitch on wheels. Every tiny little thing drives me through the roof.

FOR EXAMPLE TODAY 2 of the many things....

Receptionist received our supplies order in from Grand and Toy. As I am passing the doors headed to the bathroom, she tries to stop me to give me my dryline white out. WTF do I need that in the bathroom for??? Deliver it to my desk like you are delivering all the rest of the stuff to the other people in my department!

I recieved a phone call from my aunt. Asking for my brother's address.
WHY WOULDN'T YOU CALL MY BROTHER TO ASK HIM FOR HIS ADDRESS????

oy... I think I need a drink but I already had all my starches for the day >:|

Does anyone else get like this?? What can I do about it?

ps I am not on hormonal bc

I didn't find anything specific about this in the FAQ, so forgive me if it's there and I missed it.

I've been using the Ortho Evra patch for about 1.5 years. The first year was fine (aside from some annoying slipping and sliding and such, but that's not my concern atm), but at random over the last several months (I'd guess about once every month or two, sometimes a little more frequently), I've been getting horrible cramps in my legs, usually at night--many times I've scared my boyfriend to death by waking in the middle of the night with a shriek and jumping wildly on the bed. My boyfriend has always been more worried about it than me (I don't get them too regularly, so I'd always think "A cramp's a cramp, I've had them before"--even though I've never experienced this variety), with all of the recent press about the patch and blood clots. I've been meaning to bring it up to my doctor, but always forget.

I was listening to a medical radio show today and the doctor hosting was talking to a caller about some medication with estrogen in it, which could give her leg cramps. As the patch contains estrogen, I thought, "So is the patch the cause of those cramps after all?"

It's not entirely consequential as I'm changing birth control methods in a month, but I'm curious...
Could it be the patch? Could this worsen, were I to stay on it? Could this be a precursor to the fatal blood clots the news was raving about not long ago or is it likelier it's just a random side effect? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks!

hi everyone!

okay, so, i have my gyno appointment tomorrow for my annual exam.

and i've heard from websites[not my gyno because she's stupid and doesn't know what she's doing-this is my last appt with her] that you shouldn't have sex for 24-48 hours prior to a pap smear.

wellll....today my boy was over, and we had sex for about 1 minute. i had an orgasm[there was prior external stimulation haha-he's good but not THAT good,] but he did not. [note, i'm on the nuvaring and we are very committed and monogamous-so please no lectures] but like i said, it was VERY brief. do you think this would have been enough to throw off my pap smear?

my appointment is for 4:00 tomorrow, we had the brief encounter at about 3:00 today.

Whenever my boyfriend and I have sex, it's almost always painful. It's almost like my body isn't really producing much natural lube, which is probably caused by my BC. But other than that, it's always just PAINFUL. It's hard to get in, and once it IS in....I don't even know how to describe it. It's uncomfortable, it chafes, and it always feels like he's banging into something on my right side (almost like he is hitting an ovary), and sometimes afterwards it causes almost period like cramps in my lower abdomen. Sometimes it freaks me out because I think I'm starting my period earlier because of these weird cramps. It usually just hurts me in general. I haven't been to the Doc yet, I go in November, I was just wondering if anyone else has weird symptoms like this and what they might be related too...? I've been told I show a lot of signs for endometriosis and also vagismus.

*edit* We use lube, and lots of it everytime, and it doesn't just hurt initially, it hurts the entire time.
