hi, ladies. i posted a while back about persistent yeast infections and how my doctors never listened to me but the medicine never helped. well, anyway, i went to the doctor for what i thought was another one of those stupid yeast infections. i was very persistent, made him listen to me, and asked that he check to make sure i didn't have BV instead of a YI, since the treatments were never working. lo and behold, BV it is. so i'm on antibiotics twice a day and am taking probiotics and acidophilus capsules to help ward off any potential YI i get from the medicine.
the doctor also tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea but those results obviously do not come back right away. i've been vaginally swabbed regarding yeast infections several times in the past five to six months, and at least one other time by the same doctor i had last night. would they have tested me for chlamydia and gonorrhea each time? doctors never told me i had either one of those infections and if i didn't have them then i definitely shouldn't have them now since i have had the same sexual partner for the last five months.
( some more details here with potentially triggering text )
the last time that happened was five nearly six months ago. i'm involved with someone who i love very much and who loves me. we are serious about the relationship and are making some serious plans in that aspect. but, after all this BV and talk of STIs with my doctor, i'm now worried that i'm infected with either chlamydia or gonorrhea or HPV. the fact is, in all likelihood, i don't have either of the first two, but i'm very worried about the last. i know that i could have gotten it from my first boyfriend (before the rape) since he'd had sex with partners before me. however, the last sexual contact i had with him was over a year ago, and i've had a pap since then, and nothing came back abnormal. also, i know that HPV can lie dormant in the body for months or years after exposure, so it's possible that even my current partner could have given it to me, if i have it. and it's possible i might not ever show it or that it might show in twenty years or something.
is it true that there's really no test for HPV in men? i read that on one of the links in the sidebar of this community.
lastly, i'm afraid to talk to my boyfriend about it. i'm very nervous that i do have it. and if i have it he probably has it as we have a lot of sex and sexual contact. and i'm nervous that if i tell him i have it he is going to break up with me, even if there's no way to be sure that i didn't get it from him.
i just need some moral support and some advice on how to communicate this stuff with my partner without having him freak out. he flipped his shit when i finally fully explained about the rape and so i'm very scared that the same thing will happen again about HPV or chlamydia or gonorrhea.
:(
