hi everyone!

okay, so, i have my gyno appointment tomorrow for my annual exam.

and i've heard from websites[not my gyno because she's stupid and doesn't know what she's doing-this is my last appt with her] that you shouldn't have sex for 24-48 hours prior to a pap smear.

wellll....today my boy was over, and we had sex for about 1 minute. i had an orgasm[there was prior external stimulation haha-he's good but not THAT good,] but he did not. [note, i'm on the nuvaring and we are very committed and monogamous-so please no lectures] but like i said, it was VERY brief. do you think this would have been enough to throw off my pap smear?

my appointment is for 4:00 tomorrow, we had the brief encounter at about 3:00 today.

It's possible, yes.

For starters, he could've had some precum leak into you, and the mere act of sex "damages" the vagina (even consentual fun stuff causes some minor abrasions), so it could throw a pap off.

Different gynos have different preferences... many say 24-48 hours just to be safe, my last one said 12 hours. I think you'll be fine.

Before my last pap smear, I totally forgot that I was supposed to abstain from "anything vaginal", as they said. I had sex about 8 hours before my appointment, and they didn't say anything. My smear results were normal. YMMV.

I don't think it will be too big of a deal - but if you have an abnormal pap, remember that it might be why.

You'll probably be okay but make sure you tell her that you had sex...she may want to reschedule you but if its been 24 hours probably not. Its more of a pain on both of your parts if it comes back abnormal because of having sex...since you'll have to get procedures done which may or may not be painful...thats why you follow directions! ♥

I'm soo going to get flamed for this, but I was reading Cosmo today and it had a big article on going to the gyno, questions to ask, yada yada... Anyway, there was a little blurb there that said you're in the clear for up to 12 hours before a pap. But like someone else said, if your pap *does* come back abnormal, it's possible that your nookie had something to do with it.
