Hey lovely ladies (and lurking gents),

I'm posting to try and help my sister. It's likely to get a little long so I'll put it behind a cut. But basically here's the issue: she's needed to go to the doctor for abnormal discharge and probably a yeast infection (and/or BV) since November, when we moved back into our parents' house (we lived with close friends from her church for six months because of family issues), she's seventeen, not currently sexually active, and engaged to be married. Right now it hurts her to pee, yesterday when she peed, her unine was almost orange, she says she has "a lot" -- I asked her and she said it gushes and her underware is almost always wet and she's thought she's started her period before just because of how much there was) of discharge that smells weird, she says it's slightly yellow in colour, and she says she sometimes gets stomach pains whenever she eats or drinks anything, no matter how long it's been since she ate.

Do any of you wonderful people have any ideas? Anything I can tell her to help her keep comfortable? I'm trying to get my parents to take her to a doctor and I'm willing to call social services on them if I have to, but I'd like to know what to tell her to do in the mean time.

Thank you for any advice or help.

Hi all,

After getting tired of spending $15 for a treatment each time I get a yeast infection, I decided to try some of the natural alternatives I've heard about instead. I started with a tea tree oil treatment on a pad, followed by an internal application of acidophilius powder w/ a q-tip (I was afraid to put the capsule in, it's cellulose and I worried that it might feed the yeast), another round of tea tree oil on a pad during the day, and then an internal application of tea tree oil on a q-tip at night, along with the insertion of a garlic clove over night. This is now the third day of treatment.

As far as I can tell, the majority of the discharge has stopped. However, when I went to remove the garlic clove this morning, it seemed like there was still 'stuff' in there. Is that perhaps yeast that I'm killing with the garlic and tea tree oil? Or do I still have an infection? Should I give it a few more days of treatment before I expect results? I guess I don't know how long I should expect the natural treatment to take. Besides this questionable 'discharge', it doesn't itch or burn at all (though it was a very mild case in that sense to begin with) and there's only slight reddness and inflammation, which might be partially caused by the tea tree oil.

So... any advice, personal experience anedotes, alternative things I could try, etc. would be very helpful. Also, it seems like I've been getting them more persistently since I started having sex regularly... any tips for avoiding them? [I'll also check the memories.]

Thanks!

Advice?

I had sex with my boyfriend using condoms until a little less than a month ago. Then we got into things one night, didn't want to break things up with the frantic condom-grab so I took plan-B the next morning. Unfortunately I really didn't know what plan-B was until recently, so I didn't think twice about doing the same thing maybe four days later. About two days after that I started taking birth control pills. During the first week we pulled the plan-B thing again, and again halfway into my second week on birth control. After two weeks on birth control we had sex without a condom, he pulled out when he came and I took no plan-B. Now I'm halfway through my sugar-pill week where my period is supposed to start, but it hasn't yet. My stomach has been feeling pretty beloted for a couple weeks now so I've been dying to start my period and end this crazy month. What are the chances that I'm pregnant? We were really really careful to use condoms everytime and correctly before all of this. Is the problem just that I have so many hormones in my body still that it just doesn't know what to do with itself? What do you think?

ive read all the posts about cryotherapy, colopscopy, etc, but i still have some questions...

okay so I posted here a few weeks ago asking about colopscopy, how painful was it, etc. the nurse said it wasnt going to hurt too much, and just to take a few motrin before i went in. which i did. i took 800mg of motrin. well i went and had it done, and it was extremely painful. the motrin didnt do sh!t. i cried alot. i have been praying to get a call telling me that it was nothing.

So this morning i got a phonecall letting me know that the results came back still as Low Grade Dysplasia, and they want to do cryotherapy. Needless to say I am very scared that this is going to hurt way worse, and i dont think i can handle it. The nurse says that I need to get it done so that it doesn't progress into more moderate dysplasia. she also said that they use a local anesthesia, lydocaine or something, on the cervix, before doing the cryotherapy, but i dont know if i trust that enough to ease the pain. if i end up having to do this i think im going to take a couple vicodin or oxycodone (if i can get my hands on some)

I have been researching online alot about this, and ive been reading that something like 80% of cases of mild dysplasia will disappear without treatment. But i dont know if i should take that risk or not. I really should call up and talk to the Dr. more I guess and ask questions.

So my question for those of you who have had both colopscopy and cryotherapy, which hurts worse? and have any of you had mild/low grade dysplasia, done nothing, and have it go away? or have any of you had the laser treatment instead of cryo? im not sure if the laser option is available, i may need to go somewhere else for that.

thank you for any information or advice.

I just recently joined this community, and I am so impressed with how open and friendly everyone is!

I'm 20, I have tried 5 kinds of hormonal birth control, and stopped about four months ago, because they all affected my mood.  Now I am using condoms, but I'm afraid of them breaking.  I was thinking of getting an IUD. My doctor has said he will not insert one, because of cases of infertility related to IUDs.  Has anyone else had trouble finding a doctor who will insert one?  I haven't had kids, and, though recent research seems to suggest IUDs are safe and won't get rejected if I haven't had kids, it seems like no one wants to provide them for 20 year olds...

So I have a YI and I have unprotected sex with a male partner. I would like to prevent him from passing the infection back to me. So far, the only treatments for males for YI are monostat and yougurt with tea tree oil. As vegans, we don't use yogurt and monostat is just evil. Any suggestions?

I got a prescription for Tricyclen, and I was just curious how effective it was.

The woman was exceptionally annoying, and I don't trust her whatsoever. She was very insistant that I keep using condoms (when I inquired why, she explained to me in a tone as if she was talking to a ten-year-old about how it doesn't stop STDs -- which she had already clearly explained a few minutes earlier -- which I obviously already knew anyways). So even though I've never heard anything negative about Tricyclen, I've never looked into it, so I was curious. Because, yeah, I'm not going to be using condoms once I'm on this.

A quick rant about the woman. )

And, am I supposed to take it within the first five days of period, doesn't matter which day? Because the woman walked away when I clarified when to start, and mumbled something that I wasn't sure of.

Hey there! First time mooncup user here.

You ladies are always brilliant, so I thought I'd ask for a bit of help from other users. This is the first time I've used my mooncup, and having just put it in, I've come up with several problems/questions.

Firstly, the suction. Damn, I didn't expect that, but when you think about it, it's kind of logical. Now I've got it in, I'm finding it hugely difficult to get out - I'm glad I didn't trim the stem before, because I'm needing all of it just to get some kind of purchase at the moment. How has anyone else dealt with this? I've tried reaching up and pressing the side of the cup open to get some air through, but it's very difficult and I can't really get a proper grip on it.

Also, every now and again, I'm getting a dull little achy pang, as if my vagina's saying, "excuse me? What the chuff is this?!" Is this normal, and will it go after I've had a chance to get used to it?

Also, Im going on a long car-journey tomorrow, and at the moment, it feels like the mooncup is slightly more uncomfortable when i'm sitting down than when I'm standing up. Is it advisable to use it on a long journey when I've only just started getting used to it? Or should I revert to pads for the breaking-in period?

At the moment, I'm kind of walking round like a cowboy and feeling slightly delicate. Er... a little help? Anyone? :(

Thanks!

Ok this is probably going to come out super confusing, but I'm going to try to explain it! I am taking Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and Sunday I will start my last 7 pills of this package, the inactive pills...Sunday will also be the last day that I am taking my antibiotic...so when exactly will I be protected again? Do I need to start a new package and go through a week of active pills before I'm ok, or will I be ok as soon as I stop taking the antibiotics?

Occasionally my discharge has a caramel scent to it. It's sometimes very strong other times barely noticeable but it smells exactly like caramel! Is this indicative of anything or just a bizarre coincidence?

EDIT: Thanks for your insights everybody!

I know that at different points in your cycle, your cervix changes positions. Now, say your cervix moves down a bit..does your uterus and ovaries and such move down with it? I'm asking because about a week ago, my "best friend with benefits" type thing, was over and he started to finger me. At first it felt fine, but then it felt almost as if he was poking my left ovary. However, I think I was ovulating that day..so perhaps that's what caused the pain? He came over again today, and fingered me, but now it felt like he was actually pushing around my uterus. He was doing that "come hither" motion with his finger, and where he pressed, it felt like he was pushing against my uterus. Before these two times, whenever we were doing anything, I never had this problem. But also, we haven't been having sex since we broke up (he's also my ex) so maybe my vaginal canal and reproductive organs rearranged themselves, if that's possible?

Any input you have is helpful, thanks in advance =)

I have a question for you ladies, if youd help me out. I went to the local organic food store today, in hopes of finding a cup. It didn't happen, but the ladies in the store are interested in ordering some to try out. This is where I need the help. Does anyone here have the commercial contact info for a store in the US to start carying a cup? Any help would be appreciated.

hey everyone! it's been a really long time since I've logged onto lj. i didn't realize how much i missed it!
okay, i always remember having a lot of discharge. i get jealous of those girls who can go pantyless and wear skirts. if i dared doing that, I'd probably end up having discharge running down my inner leg!and if i didn't wear underwear with my jeans, i'd have to wash my jeans everytime i wore them, and that'd just be annoying. i wear pantiliners everyday, and i take them off before i think I'm going to be having sex with my dude. it's such a hassle!
how many girls out here have a lot of discharge?
also, my discharge definitely has a scent to it. it's not gross, or anything, but it's definitely there. how about you?
I'm going to be going for an exam and and to get tested soon. I'm trying to remember what my discharge smelled like when i was younger, to see if it has changed, but i just can't remember, or does the scent change naturally as we get older?
i don't know, I'm just so sick of this discharge.
any amount would be awesome!

Bleeding for a week straight, lightly but enough to mark a pantiliner, for 1 week or slightly more, 20 days after the start of my last period.

Sounds like ovulation bleeding, but I don't think its supposed to last that long, is it?

What else could it be?
I've had a copper iud for 3 months now, but I don't think it was supposed to cause regular bleeding like that. Its definitely NOT a period, with a copper iud I already know those involve ALOT more bleeding.

Wondering if I should be contacting the old gyno for a checkup...

Okay, so today I went down to the local natural foods type store, and bought myself some natura pads to hold me until my cloth pads come, since my period started. One thing I've already noticed, in addition to being a lot more comfortable than the Always that I used to wear, is that I do not smell unplesant. I always could smell that "period scent" on myself before, now, I don't. The blood on the pad has absolutely no smell to it...it's just neutral, like a cut. I think these are a nice mid-point while I wait to get my cloth pads and cup. I definately think even after I get my nw supplies, I wil be keeping a package of these on hand for when friends come over during their ycles. I feel more comfortable letting them have a natural, bio-degradable disposable pad than I did with the idea of keeping a box of Always around for that kind of thing. (No, I wouldn't be comfortable sharing my cloth pads, even with my sisters or girlfriends.) I just thought I'd update about these pads. Also, an interesting aside that may or may not be related...minimal cramps, no breast pain, and a lighter than usual first day flow. This is a good time to be me.
