Hihi, I never really post here often But recently I've come upon a bit of a situation.

My well, ex now? But like...I guess FWB now? haha bought me a toy, a small purple vibrator. I used it quite a bit this past weekend, but I think due to my using it I got a yeast infection (D:!). I bought the WalMart knockoff Monistat-3 (which I don't like, the other time I had a YI was four years ago and I used Diflucan, Monistat is so messyyyy :() and I'm on day 2. So hopefully it clears up!

My question is, since I really still want to use my toy (it's good!), how do I properly clean/care for my vibrator as to not get another YI? I used like antibacterial soap and cold water...which I'm guessing wasn't a good thing. x_x Is there any sort of like wipe-like thing (like a diaper wipe) I could use? I can't just carry it into the bathroom during school...walking down a hallway with a bright purple vibrator in a college dorm...not happening! haha

Thanks ladies!

ok so i browsed the memories and came up with nothing.

i should be on my period in the next week, but i've started this weird spotting. it started a few days ago. it's pinkish in color and thick. not like the normal blood. and it's not like a normal period. it's light. the only cause i can think of would be stress and weight-loss but i have no idea. i have been extremely stressed at work and i have lost a lot of weight. could that be the cause? =\

i've never had random spotting before so i'm kinda...freaking out.

HIV fact?

My friend and I were having a debate, and I feel a little silly asking this, but...if a male and female have repeated unprotected sex, and the girl never once cums, is the male still at serious risk of getting HIV from her? Or would the risk for him be lowered because she doesn't cum?

I've never dealt with UTI's until this past year when the docs put me on a regimen of medicine for a bunch of specific problems, ranging from pain management to neurological medications that I take twice a day. They warned me to drink lots of water. I thought I was. Since starting this regimen though, I've started to get UTIs regularly. The first few went away after a day or so, just after drinking alot of water or juice. But, they've been increasingly more vicious.
I lost my insurance though, and so haven't been to a doc since the beginning of the summer.

This one has been particularly vicious...I keep thinking "ok it went away" when my symptoms get a bit better for a few hours..and then I'll wake up in the middle of the night with it. These past couple days it's been increasingly bad, and last night it pushed me past the breaking point- no sanity.
My urine- I noticed the foul-smell before, has never been quite this potent. No blood though. Good sign.
I CONSTANTLY feel like I need to pee, and when I stop peeing- that's the worst. I can't describe the sensation, but it's....awful.
Last night, the most alarming thing was that I was getting pain, alternating between stabbing pain and aches in my abdomen and my lower back on mostly one side.

I gave it a CRANBERRY BOMB. Two of those cranberry pills, half a package of dried cranberries, a glass of cranberry juice, and a bottle of watter. This morning, all symptoms have lessened a bit, but have not gone away. I was sort of under the impression that once a UTI spread to the kidneys, it was too late for the cranberry stuff to be of any assistance, but then again I could be a complete moron since I'm really new to the whole UTI thing. Maybe my kidneys AREN'T infected, and you jut get lower-abdominal/flank pain with a really severe UTI.     I really don't have the time to go to the doc (first day of classes today) or the money...but I recognize that I probably really DO need to go. Can I wait untill I'm done with class at 6:00 to figure it out?

Thanks gals...you're all AMAZING.

*fistshakes at uterus* You had to start bleeding NOW, just to spite me, didn't you?!?!

So my period finally showed up about a week after stopping my HBC. While I'm happy it's looking more normal than it has been lately (bright red, a little bit of tissue, rather than brown and old), the fact that it shows up the morning of my annual has me miffed. I can't call my gyno right now to cancel because I'm waiting on a job interview, and I know my clinic likes to have at least 24 hours notice. I feel bad about waiting until the last minute, but I honestly thought I'd be starting Thursday, not today. I still want to go in to talk to them about IUD's and such, but how miffed do you think the nurse would be when I explain about my period? It's still pretty light, but who knows how it will be by this afternoon.

I just hate making things difficult like this...

EDIT: Exam went well, the nurse had no problems, just had to spend a few extra uncomfortable (for me) moments getting a sample. So I'm waiting on my test results and will be scheduling an IUD insertion is about 2 weeks :D

I just learned that home UTI tests are available....BUT are they available in Canada?
I'm curious if Shoppers Drug Mart/Rexall, or other major stores carry them, and what the brand names are so I know what package to look for.

Thanks!

Ok, folks, I need some knowledge. For the last two years since I've been having sex it hurts for the first few seconds. It hurts to insert a tampon and it most definitely hurts to have a speculum inserted. Now, after a few seconds of sex it won't hurt and after the speculum has stopped moving there is only a mild stinging sensation. Everytime someone at the clinic looks down there they say the same thing, you're inflammed and raw. The first time they said that was probably because of my yeast infection. Well, I have only ever had 2 yeast infections and the 2nd was 4 months ago. Yesterday, the clinician said the same thing, that I looked red, raw, and inflammed. She checked for yeast, BV, and trich. I had none. I had a chlamydia and gonorrhea test 4 months ago that came back negative, but she's having another done anyway. But, since I haven't changed partners in the last 4 months I'm expecting a negative. She's also going to do a herpes test which no one has suggested before. This is what has me scared.

Could just be raw and inflammed for 2 years be herpes? I've never had any sores other than typical ingrown hairs. I'm not even sure what the sores look or feel like. I would assume they're rather uncomfortable. So essentially I'm only ever raw and inflammed.

From what I can recall though it's been like this forever, even before I had sex. At first I attributed it to virgin pain. But, when I'd had sex 6 or 7 times and it still hurt I began to think something was wrong. the first guy I ever had sex with was a virgin and I know this is no guarantee, but he swore he was a virgin in every other way. Considering I was with him for 2 years and I never noticed anything funky going on with his penis I'd assume he didn't have herpes. Unless he's just a carrier. Since him, I've only ever slept with one other guy without a condom, the guy I'm currently with. Likewise nothing has ever seemed out of the ordinary and he says he doesn't have herpes.

I'm just really confused. Everytime I'm told I'm raw and inflammed, but other than a yeast infection that I don't have there is no answer. Even the clinician doubts it could be herpes. Add to that my tilted uterus and enlarged right ovary and I had a fabulous visit. Thanks for any help.

Oh, just in case there's confusion and I'm raw and inflammed on the inside, not the outside.

I've posted twice about my UTI syptoms (smelly, oily urine) and my allergies to avelox and azithromycin. I finally went to an obgyn, who barely looked at me and prescribed a week of macrobid twice daily. I had to wait till two days after my obgyn exam to start taking the macro, and the day i started, I began to have typical symptoms (sharp pain before peeing, peeing constantly). They pretty much went away after the first couple of days, although the smelly urine remained. Well, i finished the macrobid yesterday, and also started getting the sharp pain and peeing again (worse than before), along with a horrible stabbing pain on my left side abdomen and back (I usually ignore back pain because I have a chronic condition, but this seems worse than normal). I've also been feeling run down and icky and achy for a few days. My obgyn's office is a nightmare, so I bypassed them and made an appointment just to get a urine done at my gp (the doc and np aren't available till next week). I did, however, call my obgyn to make sure they got the first urine test back. Well, they did, and it came back negative. I'm mad that they let me do a round of macro for no reason, and never bothered to tell me the test was negative. I'm terrified of resistant bacteria, and I think what they did just hurt me, didn't help me.
What the hell is going on here?? Is it possible I had a kidney infection already so the uti didn't show up? Is THIS a kidney infection? I'll be seeing a doc asap but does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Hi, Everyone!

My sister is 9 weeks pregnant, and one of the ultrasounds picked up a dermoid tumour on her ovary, about 4 cm in diameter. For now, they're leaving it for a few weeks to see if it's growing, but a few questions have come up. While she's gotten some answers from her doctor, it never hurts to get information from as many sources as possible, and there are some incredibly knowledgeable people in this community! Mainly, she's not sure if the risk of leaving the tumour until after the pregnancy is greater than removing the tumour during the pregnancy. Can anyone shed their insight on the situation? (If you can make sense out of that garbled sentence, that is.)

Also, are dermoid tumours hereditary in any way? My Mom is worried that I might have one, too (it's a mother's job to worry, I suppose, and I have been having ovary pains lately). She wants me to get checked out. I'd like to assuage her fears, but I'd also like to avoid unnecessary ultrasounds; they are a huge hassle for me due to a chronic pain condition of the bladder. Is there any other way to get a good look at the ovaries without the standard fill-the-bladder ultrasound? (I hear that there are wand-in-vagina ultrasounds, but can they see the ovaries with any clarity?)

Thanks so much for any help. :)

so i have an issue regarding sexual intercourse.

my boyfriend and i have tried to do it about three times now and everytime we try to do it i feel an extreme buring sensation in my vagina.

a little background information on me: i've never used tampons before and because of my awesome catholic school sexual education have believed (past tense) that sex will just make me end up pregnant and i really shouldn't be doing it to begin with. but that has subsided and i agreed to try sex (with some reluctance). i have been taking birth control for about a year and a half now (yasmin). I am a virgin and me and my boyfriend have tried other things (oral, manual masturbation) so we're "seasoned" in a way i guess.

so when my boyfriend tries inserting his penis inside of me, i make sure that he goes very slowly, goes an inch or so, then stop, then go further if i feel comfortable. he hasnt been able to get all of his member inside of me because everytime he goes as far as i let him, i feel this BURNING sensation, like someone was giving me an indian sunburn on my vag. The pain is enough to start to make me crying and make me gasp. We've tried lube and a few different kinds of condoms but the pain persists. He keeps telling me to relax so my vagina isnt as rigid, but its kind of hard when my vag hurts that bad. It starts to throb (like a trembling motion) when its sore.

What I really want to know if its just that way because I'm slightly paranoid (but not as bad as i used to be) or if i have a genuine disorder. Has anyone else had this sort of issue, and what did you do to resolve this?

No one much noticed, but thousands of family-planning clinics across the country went into a tailspin last month. They were reacting to a drastic price increase by Ortho-McNeil, a major supplier of birth-control pills and maker of the popular contraceptive patch. The company used to charge publicly funded clinics as little as a penny a pack for the pills. Then, as of July 1, the price of some pills jumped to more than $18 a pack. Ortho's move was apparently legal under federal pricing rules. But it's anybody's guess as to why the company chose to do this now, without giving the clinics any real notice.

As a result of the price hike, publicly funded clinics from Maine to New Mexico are running short on popular contraception products, scrambling to find reasonably priced generics, and scaling back on the choices they offer low-income women. Chronically underfunded, the clinics are in no shape to absorb this blow, especially now. The number of women in need of subsidized contraception is rising, while new and expensive advances in screening and prevention, like the HPV vaccine, are coming on line. Yet the national press has ignored the story of the Ortho price hike, which the Charleston Gazette in West Virginia broke in late July.

This community has been such a help for me recently, and I thank you all for the support and links! However, it's my first post and I'd like to ask some few questions... If they're repeated, forgive me that I couldn't find 'em.

Don't mind the spelling, please. It's been a time I don't speak english, so it's a bit off. xD

It's the third time I've taken an ECP. Does it looses its effect as you take 'em? I've heard that it may cause some future problems to you, like cancer. That rumour (?) freaked me out...

Also, I'm suppossed to get my period tomorrow and begin to take pills, yay! I'm kinda worried 'cause I've had sex without a condom like 5/6 days ago, he pulled-out but there's a possibility of pre-cum, eh? Due to it, I took an ECP. I guess that I was/am on my infertile period, but ohwell. @@' I didn't want to take a risk, I'm not 100% sure. I'm worried 'cause when I'm about to get my period, I have huge cramps (that start only later), I get dry and my breasts hurt. My breasts' aren't like, sore, this time. However, I'm dry. Is it normal that they don't hurt this time? Is there any chance for me to be pregnant? I pray that I'm not, I'm still too young.

Another question, but about ejaculation... You see, I didn't know how it was like before reading here, but I still didn't have one. I read that it's like you want to pee, and I've had this "pee-feeling" during sex, hahah. It may sounds stupid but... Do you ejaculate like if you're peeing, is that it? I mean like, the process to, you pee the joy out!? xD If so, will it come out any urine? :x

Thanks for you help and time!

Hi all:)

I'm getting a copper coil fitted soon due to Pill induced migraines and acne from hell. I'm in a steady, committed relationship so STI's aren't a consideration. Has anyone else had a coil and what was your experience? Thank you.

Also, I take Effexor for depression and anxiety and it absolutely destroyed my sex drive. After much research on my own and basically harrassing my GP and psychiatrist I was eventually prescribed Wellbutrin. For around two months I noticed no difference and thought I was doomed never to want sex again. THEN! Out of the blue 2-3 weeks ago I literally got up one morning incredibly horny and have been that way ever since! I am so happy I can't tell you! I want sex pretty much every day now when I used to want it once a month before and am masturbating twice a day instead of once or twice a fortnight. I feel alive again!!

hey I am just after some advice but I will probably call my doctor tomorrow.
I have been having some issues with my periods lately so my doctor put me on the pill (Yasmin).
She asked if I had a history of Stroke or heart disease in the family and I said no because I thought that we didn't.
I was curious when I get home and asked mum and apparently my grandmother (on dads side) died when she was in her 40s from a stroke.
Does this mean that I wont be able to take the pill anymore?
That would be a huge bummer because nothing else has ever worked for me..

Anyway. I will ask my doctor but I am after some advice from you.
Thanks :)

I just saw an ad for the new Yaz BCP. I don't exactly get it. I see that it's 24 active/4 inactive pills, but what does this mean? The website says it evens out hormones. Are you better protected? Does it just shorten periods? I'm on Yasmin so I'm really interested in what this new pill is all about. Thanks!
