*fistshakes at uterus* You had to start bleeding NOW, just to spite me, didn't you?!?!

So my period finally showed up about a week after stopping my HBC. While I'm happy it's looking more normal than it has been lately (bright red, a little bit of tissue, rather than brown and old), the fact that it shows up the morning of my annual has me miffed. I can't call my gyno right now to cancel because I'm waiting on a job interview, and I know my clinic likes to have at least 24 hours notice. I feel bad about waiting until the last minute, but I honestly thought I'd be starting Thursday, not today. I still want to go in to talk to them about IUD's and such, but how miffed do you think the nurse would be when I explain about my period? It's still pretty light, but who knows how it will be by this afternoon.

I just hate making things difficult like this...

EDIT: Exam went well, the nurse had no problems, just had to spend a few extra uncomfortable (for me) moments getting a sample. So I'm waiting on my test results and will be scheduling an IUD insertion is about 2 weeks :D

you could call and ask, but probably still go in to do everything other than the actual pap smear, and rebook that appt for when you're not bleeding.

They might be able to do everything anyway, depending on how heavy it is... I was spotting when I had my appointment and when I told them they were like, "Oh you're okay, we'll just take a peek and check your uterus." Turns out it calmed down for a minute so there wasn't even any blood in there when they were examining. I would just call first and let them know, and see what they have to say about it. It's not like you willed it, or even expected it to come today so they can't really be mad at you for not giving notice. It happens!

I just had an annual exam last week, when I was on the last day of my period. They said as long as its light, they can still do it. This was at planned parenthood, and they did a thinprep type pap, which I've heard makes a difference.

I would call and ask.

This has happened to me before and I didn't know so I called and asked and they weren't mad and didn't charge my to reschedule (which they wanted me to) I mean come on...it's not like anyone can plan these things perfectly! Plus, as an OBGYN, they should understand the situation :-)
