BV?

I am wondering what Bacterial Vaginosis is like from personal experience (memories is too vague).

For the past couple months I have smelled different, a bit fishy, with a slightly yellow discharge. My vulva does not itch, but is slightly generally uncomofrtable. I thought this was a yeast infection so I tried monistat which I thought helped until a week or so after the symptoms came back, so I figured it came back and used another monistat. Also, I have had my period twice, and the symptoms were the same before and after bleeding.

Do my symptoms describe BV or something else? My gyno can't see me for almost 2 weeks so I'm pretty clueless.

Thanks!

Hello, ladies.

I have a quick question for some of you who have had BV. Two days ago,  I started having really intense pain just above the pubic bone and to the left. It came and went, but when it was at it's worst, I could barely walk. It went  away, and then yesterday, it came back again with enough intensity to leave me crying on  the floor,  unable to move even after taking Ultram. This was the point  in time where I decided a trip to the ER sounded like an intelligent course of action.

I had all the standard tests, including a pregnancy test; they took urine samples and I had two different ultrasounds, one external, and one transvaginal. They checked for kidney stones. I also had a pelvic exam, which  normally for me are uncomfortable, but not painful. This one was. And as soon as the doctor got anywhere near my left ovary, the pain flared up again. The doctor believed that it might have been a ruptured ovarian cyst - something I've never had before - because there was fluid in the cul-de-sac and the location of the pain. But on the ultrasound, there was nothing indicating a cyst.

In fact, the only thing they came up with was a BV infection. Now, I pay attention to the state of my girly-bits, and  I  have not had the slightest indication of any sort of infection - no discharge, no funny smells, no itchiness, nothing. They said the infection appeared mild, because they only found a few of the cells(?) when they were examining the slides.

I've been  through the archives and read all the BV tags, but nowhere did I find anyone describing pain at the levels that I experienced. Has anyone ever had really terrible pain with BV? And if so, how long did it take for it to subside? I'm still in quite a bit of pain - not as bad as yesterday, but close. The doctors gave me Flagyl, and some vicodin.

Thanks!

Hello, just wondering if anyone can help. Last night I noticed my vagina was rather sore. I looked but saw nothing. Then it plagued me all night by continuing to sting (the actual vaginal opening). I looked again this morning and one whole inner labia is swollen, the bottom of it particularly. There is no real itching, just that funny itching you get when you touch a painful area, like a sore. Also no rash or discharge or anything like that as yet. I thought perhaps I could have cut it somehow and it's swelled up, but I've no idea how I could've, and I see no cut at all.
I can't sit down properly and showering this morning was painful. Any ideas? I've applied some pawpaw ointment to ease the sting.

PMS

I think I'm having trouble with PMS. I am depressed a lot of the time, and over the past few months it has gotten considerably worse. I'd say 9 days out of 10 I am depressed. I do have one or two days here and there where I'll be in a fantastic mood but this rollar-coaster is wearing me out. I didn't even want to get out of bed today because I woke up with this feeling of depression and dread.

I've done all I know how to do to regulate my mood, but I'm yet to find something that works. I exercise regularly, eat fairly well (lots of vegetables), try to maintain a stable blood sugar level, have a positive outlook on life, keep my thoughts positive (I've looked at attitude and all that pyschological stuff), take vitamins, I've done everything I can think of.

I suspected it may be caused by hormones after reading this book (http://www.thebodyblues.com/) about how hormones affect women's moods - not just when they have their period or in the week before their period, but all the time. So I bought the recommended vitamin supplements and took those but there was no change.

I would like to know if anybody else experiences what I've described, and if so, is it hormone related? Is there anything I can take to stablise and elevate my mood? I'd appreciate any suggestions because I really don't want to live my life like this anymore.

How can you tell the difference between a canker sore and a cold sore? My boyfriend gets canker sores (he says from stress), and from what i've googled, they're not cold sores, but there seems to be general confusion about them.

Also, I've been doing some research on BC, and before I started getting serious about it, it seemed like hormonal BC was very safe. However, now the 99% effectiveness is starting to worry me. What if I'm that 1%? So I just wanted to ask if there's anyone here who's gotten pregnant while using hormonal BC. Thanks!

so I"m wondering about those new "alexa by trojan"condoms. well they claim "they're designed by women for women" I've heard this claim before and all it ever ends up being is stuff like warming lubricant, ridges, etc which I (and I think many women) find more irritating than pleasurable for regular use. I am allergic to warming lubricant and spermicide (i'm having issues spelling nonoxnyl-9 right now) I'm not a big fan of ridges and bumps etc... So if anyone here has tried or knows anything about these, I'm curious are they different? Are they better? Are they anything new? Or are they the same ol' same ol'

Neck pain

I was just curious to know if anyone here would know why I that just before my period starts every month, I get neck pain. Its always on the left side in the front, in exactly the area you'd check your pulse. Its not like a muscle pull, its hard to explain the pain. Its very annoying, but it only lasts a couple days until my period starts, and then it goes away until the next month. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Or know what would cause this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

This may be a weird question, but my boyfriend was saying how he heard that having sex submerged in water can be bad for your ovaries...? Is that true, and can someone expand on it for me? I've never heard that.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced these symptoms when starting oral contraceptives:

I've taken 8 pills so far, so I don't want to rush to judgment, but 4 hours after I take it my heart always starts racing. I'd be quick to blame it on something other than the pill if it wasn't always at 11pm, like clockwork. When it starts it feels like my heart is like overworking, beats a couple of times really hard and unexpectedly, if that makes sense, and after that I mostly just experience a rapid heartbeat and kind of tight chest area in general (which I'm not sure isn't caused by anxiety about the first thing). It usually clears up after a couple hours (I'm guessing, because by that time I have to try to get to bed so I can make it to class the next morning). I know you're supposed to stick out the first 2-3 months of BC if at all possible because stuff like nausea, headaches, etc typically go away as your body gets used to new hormone levels... but I'm reluctant to categorize this as a usual side effect unless I hear otherwise.

Your opinions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Due to the recent accumulation of similar posts, I decided to be brave (finally) and post my dilemma. I really appreciate any advice.
I've been with my boyfriend for over a year and I love him more than anything and I love what we do more than anything, I just don't think I was ever able to let myself go during sex. As good as it may feel, I don't think I've ever orgasmed. It's not even like I focus on trying to orgasm, I just don't think I can ever reach that point. I never masturbated all that often because I never got anything out of it and recently, I've just started to feel bad about being defective.
There is a certain acquired weirdness I experience during intimate sessions. I've always been really uncomfortable with my body (how it looks, feels, etc...) and I think this definitely factors into my problems during sex, I just don't know how to get over it. My boyfriend tells me repeatedly he loves my body, and continually showers me with adoration, but I feel totally lame for still feeling so uncomfortable. Also, because I get so weirded out by it, whenever I think I am on the brink of something, I scare myself and it goes away. I think it is just all around being uncomfortable with myself or sex or Something...
I am 19 and this is the first man I've ever slept with. I think I've always been kind of anxious so maybe I just can't relax enough to really enjoy it... I still love everything about sex, I just wanted to try to fix this, because I feel awful about not being able to fully experience everything. I also just want my boyfriend to not feel so bad anymore.
I think it is all just me, and im probably fully capable of it, I just don't know how to achieve it!
Any help is fully appreciated!

last night I took an at home test and it was positive. I was 3 days late on my period. My question is how soon should I see a doctor and when I see one should it be a regular doctor or a gyno? thanks in advanced for any information. ps I am planning on going full term (:

Hello, I have (what I think is) an intriguing question for all you wonderful ladies.

NOT that I'm complaining, mind you, not at ALL, but today my vagina/vulva/discharge smells like...cinnamon??? Huh? What on EARTH could cause that????

Also, possibly related, I'm on my first month of Zovia (switched to after taking one month of Ovcon 35), and took my last active pill Saturday night, and no bleeding yet. Last month on the Ovcon, I started bleeding *before* the active pills were gone. When is the "normal" time for bleeding to start after you start taking the inactive(sugar) pills? Is this something I should worry about?

(Background: I'm on HBC because of an excessive uterine lining build-up(after 6-7 years of no period at all), before I went on Ovcon 35 I did a progesterin challenge, kind of a super flush, and the bleeding last month on the Ovcon was super heavy, too.)

Thank you!!!!

BV?

Is having, like, a layer of skin come off normal with BV?
I've recently gotten BV, and have been treating it with peroxide and garlicsince yesterday morning, but today I was putting peroxide up there with an eye dropper (I don't have a syringe), and a ton of white bits of what looked like really saturated wihte-colored skin came out in it.
When I examined myself, it looked like some of the skin nearer my vaginal opening was the same white kind of soaked-looking skin was attached there in some places.

Is this some other issue entirely that I should be worried about?

Also, will any normal stuff I may have around the house help the itching for longer than ice does?
