Hello. :) So, I've decided to get a VCH (vertical clit hood) piercing. And I'm wondering what all ya'll knew about it or even if any of you had one or knew of any really good reference sites regarding that specific piercing or what-have-you.

The biggest concern I have is healing time, because my partner and I don't get to see each other except for once every couple of weeks and so we get straight to the sex when we do get to see each other. He says that he wouldn't have (vaginal) sex (so, the plus would I'd still be getting oral and anal, either way) with me until after it's healed, because he doesn't want to risk getting it infected, but how long does it take for it to heal and when can you have sex again after getting it done?

sorry i know you must get this alot. but this is a new fun twist.
i had sex yesterday (early monday morning 230 am) i didnt realize i was supposed to start my new pack of birth control as well yesterday (being sunday). i want to ecp cus i had this horrible time lately handling the things in my life i cant control and being with child would put me over the edge.
now, my insurance company offer this program where i talk to a nurse practionier or someone at like a pharmacy and they write me a prescription or some nonsense.
can they prescribe me ecp or must i see a real doctor? i dont know im very confused.
i just need alittle help from my friends.
thank you.
edit: i still have yet to take my birthcontrol (prescriptions hate me with transfering from ny to md).

Ok.. so I looked in the memories and everywhere but haven't found anything like this asked before.

How do you go about speeding up the healing process on cuts that resulted from a YI? I've only had one YI before, and last time I didn't have cuts, so will the topical anti-itch cream they give you with most vaginal treatments have an adverse reaction with the cuts. Like burning or slower healing time.

So any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Am I the only one that thinks the boy-human pounding my cervix during sex actually feels good?

I am on the Nuva Ring and use it just as directed. I put in a new ring on Sunday after my week out. For some reason yesterday, I started getting a sharp cramp around my left ovary which persisted for several hours. It still aches a bit today. It feels strangely similar to midcycle ovulation cramps I used to get before I was on hormonal BC. I'm a little concerned that for some reason I ovulated, even though I didn't leave my ring out for more than a week. What else could be causing this? I don't think it's a cyst, but I'm not positive. Should I be concerned that my protection is compromised?

Thanks. :)

Sperm life

Just out of curiosity, how long do sperm typically live in a vagina? I know they can live up to a week in the best conditions, but what is their typical life span?

I've searched the archives for such a topic, but I was unable to find anything.

I can honestly say that I've never had an orgasm, just good sex (but is it good without an orgasm?). About twice since I started having sex, the guy that I had sex with would be doing what he usually does (go slow then gradually speed up) and then I just get this sensation that I'm about to urinate on him and myself if I continue to let him go as fast, so I tell him to stop completely until the feeling goes away. Because I've never had an orgasm, could that be what it is? I've had this happen with two different boyfriends with two completely different styles. I'm unsure why it feels this way...does anyone else have this problem?

So about two weeks ago I noticed that it had become very uncomfortable to wear a contact in my right eye. Since the focus of discomfort was always in the same location, I assumed the problem was not any defect of the lens. A trip to the eye doctor confirmed that there was an area of irritation, characterized by the growth of blood vessels, which the doctor felt may have been a reaction to the new, thicker brand of contact I recently switched to. He gave me some eye drops and I've been wearing glasses exclusively until I see him again. (I don't feel the irritation without the contacts in, so I'm not sure if it's gone yet.)

I bring this up here because last night I was flipping through the package insert for my Yasmin, which I have been taking for about 4 years without any problems. Under the "Side Effects" section, I noticed that it included this warning: "If you wear contact lenses and notice a change in vison or an inability to wear your lenses, contact your doctor or healthcare provider." Can anyone clarify the "inability to wear lenses" part, or does it speak for itself? I'm going to bring this up with my doctor the next time I see him, but any info in the meantime would be appreciated. There have been no changes in my vision otherwise.

Hey everyone, I looked through the memories and didn't see this so I apologize if this has already been asked. Basically I've read a lot about how if you're late taking HBC (especially by more than 12 hours) then you need to use a backup for a week or so after that. But what about if you're late taking the pill the morning after you had sex? How late can you be in taking the pill after sex and still be okay? 3 hours? 12 hours? Does it matter at all?

Thanks!

edited to be more clear: by "the pill" I meant HBC, not ECP

BM issues

I've been having BM issues since Saturday afternoon. cut for some description of my troubles )

I looked in the memories and found a post with a problem similar to mine. The suggestions were to take Imodium or that it could be a GI infection. My main concern is that it's been going on for four-five days now, and it's not normal for my body at all. I'm trying to drink lots of water to stay hydrated. (The entry also mentioned lactose intolerance which I've had issues with in the past, but I've not been eating many dairy products at all since this started, in case it was that.)

My questions:

Any other suggestions about what this might be or what I can do for it?
If I go to my university clinic, is there going to be anything they can do for me besides tell me to take Imodium or something similar?
Is there some treatment for a GI infection, or do you have to let it run its course?
If I shouldn't go to the clinic today, how long should I let this go on before I get worried?

Thanks a lot

I saw an ad last night onj TV for Channel 7's news, apparently there is going to be a news report on a "revolutionary" birth control pill with "none of the side effcts". It's on the 6 o'clock news.

I'm thinking it might be about the BCP 'Centchroman' which someone posted about earlier and I'd like to know more as I'm sure others would. I'm not going to be able to watch it, if someone watches it could you post a brief summary?

Hi all!

I had a question concerning switching brands of birth control, which I'm not completely sure about. I've probably heard something about it before, but I just wanted to see what you all have to say!

I switched (HBC) birth control a month ago from EstroStep to Levlen28. I can't remember the correct terms, but EstroStep had the 3 different amounts of hormones that changes throughout the month; Levlen is just one amount of hormones all month.

I am now at my placebo week and it's been a few days into it with no period or spotting yet.

I know hormones have changed but is it possible that I may not even get my period due to this change?

(If I don't make sense, let me know and I'll try to re-word my question ^_^;)
[identity profile] loveofdaisies.livejournal.com
I took an ECP a few weeks ago which in turn caused a period-like bleeding. I called my clinic and talked to the nurse about it- she referred to it as "withdrawal bleeding" (I think that's what she said) due to the hormones. Can anyone expand on this a bit for me? What exactly is going on in my body during withdrawal bleeding? And is it that bleeding that throws off your cycle?

I've been toying with the idea of putting another hole in my vagina, specifically a hood piercing. I suppose I'd really like to get a triangle done, but I don't think I have the anatomy for it, and I'm not too sure about getting a piercing that's not so common. I'm very paranoid of mishaps.

Anyhow, my actual question, since I surprisingly can't find this anywhere on the entire Internet... I'm prone to UTIs and yeast infections. Would a piercing down there be a really dumb idea? How likely is it that Provon would throw off my pH? How would a yeast infection affect the piercing? Would the piercing make me more apt to get UTIs and yeast infections?

I'm very good about taking care of piercings. I had my nipples done a year ago, and I haven't had a single problem with them to date. The only reason my ear piercings ever got infected was because they were done with a piercing gun. Yeah, even the cartiledge. I know.

Anyhow, I'm trying to say that I'm not one to slack off at all on the aftercare; if I get told to wash something three times a day, come Hell or high water, so it shall be washed. You needn't warn me about that end of things. I'm just worried about what happens if my vag slacks off on her end of the deal.

I'd like to start taking St. John's Wort to see if it'll alleviate my depression a bit. I've done some research and I'm about to go ahead with it except for the birth control concerns--some sites have mentioned that SJW might lessen the effectiveness of HBC, but since it's an herbal supplement, I haven't been able to find any medical sites to confirm or deny that warning. I called my pharmacist yesterday and he said, "To my knowledge, it should be fine." The to my knowledge part is what trips me up. Does anyone have any definitive answers about all this?

ETA: I'm on Aviane (generic of Levlite).

spotting?

Ive looked through all the memories about spotting/breakthrough bleeding, and none of them seem to apply to my particular situation. im not on any form of hormonal birth control, and all the posts ive read about spotting so far have been associated with birth control in some way.

there seems to be a little bit of blood in my discharge. it isnt a lot of blood, at all. and its not continuous-just every so often when i wipe (sorry of this is ick), theres a small streak of blood in my discharge, which otherwise looks completely normal. i dont feel weird, theres no pain, cramps or discomfort of any kind, no wierd smells or anything. i havent had sex since before my last period. my next period is due next week.

so does anyone know whats going on? im not too worried, since i feel completely fine, but i would like some input--and i will go see a doctor about it.

Hi! First of all, I'd like to give a big "you all rock, wooooo!" to all the wonderful women who make this community thrive! \../,

Secondly, something funny happened to me today and I was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else out there. I know it's pretty common for women who co-habitate to achieve synchronous ovulation after a few cycles. But, has anyone ever started their period at the mere *suggestion* that another woman is menstruating?

My story: I have a friend who happens to live on the opposite side of the U.S. from me... and one day, she said to me on the phone, "Ooh, I feel crampy today." 30 minutes later, I started my period, a couple days early even! And today, this same friend made a similar comment to me, and I kid you not, I started my period like 2 seconds later. Coincidence?

I know this may have been asked and I've looked in the memories, it may be a yeast infection, but i have a white lumpy discharge and no itchy or other irritation. It doesn't smell foul. It's just there. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I'm 21. I've had sex but it's always been well protected.

My yeasties hit hard and fast, waiting a month for an appointment is NOT an option, natural remedies fail miserably and OTC insertion medications make me burn almost as badly as the yeastie while getting rid of it so I thought I may as well try asking my gyn for an advance prescrition for diflucan because it works...the only problem in getting it is waiting a month for an appointment.

I didn't even have to explain, the moment I asked she said 'Sure!' and started writing it, telling ME how it was a good idea and how much of a hassle it is to get an appointment just for something so simple. I highly recommend trying to get one to have around and I dunno if it's common for gyns to do that but it's certainly worth asking (:

Love my gyn (: (and she's sterilizing me with Essure tomorrow at 10, WHOOOOOOO!)

Ok. I'm slightly confused.

I get that Depo-provera is injected in the muscle, and SubQ is fewer hormones and injected right under the skin BUT

Depo-provera says it's 99% effective, but Depo SubQ said in a 1 year trial of 2000 some women NO ONE became pregnant.

But websites say Depo- and Depo-SubQ are only 99.7% effective like BC pills/patch/shot.

Also they say that you may not get pregnant for a year after your last depo shot... if that's so then how could you get pregnant AT ALL on depo? I am sooooooo confused!!!

Now my worry is, with BC pills, etc, you get a period, with Depo after awhile you may not. How do you know you're not pregnant if they're the same amount of effective?!

I've been having spotting problems on the nuvaring and want to go on something else in case it's not working for me... I can't imagine going back to the pill, don't want to deal with the patch, can't get an IUD and Implanon is STILL not available...

Agh. Birthcontrol is driving me crazy but I really do not want babies!!!

Here’s my dilemma:

I missed my period about 2 weeks ago, but I wasn’t too worried about it until today. I thought my period was late because I went on vacation with some other women a for a few days before and the week during when my period should have came (my period has always been really sensitive to other cycles and will usually fluctuate a good bit when I spend a lot of time around other women…) Anyways, I’ve never actually missed a period before, so this isn’t “normal” or anything, but you get the idea. So today I’ve got this intense pain in my lower abdomen, kind of to the right of my belly button and down a tiny bit, but I feel it mostly if I try to like, do a sit up. I guess what I’m asking is there anything serious I should be worrying about?

I am sexually active, so I realize that there is a slim chance I could be pregnant, and should probably take a test just to rule it out, but I haven’t yet, and that’s that, so please don’t bark at me about it.

Thank you all for any help!
