This may be a weird question, but my boyfriend was saying how he heard that having sex submerged in water can be bad for your ovaries...? Is that true, and can someone expand on it for me? I've never heard that.

Ive heard its not great getting the bacteria in your vagina--yeasties or something could occur...

Dont know about the ovaries, though...never heard that one.

I highly doubt that's true.

But if I'm wrong I'd love to hear the reasoning behind it.

Sue rocks. Learned _sooooo_ much from her "Sunday Night Sex Show" on Canada's WTN (Women's Television Network), the precursor to the current show on Oxygen.

"Sue rocks"
She certainly does. She destroys the stereotype of old(er) people not being sexual, and like another commenter said, she really seems to know her stuff.

She said there is research out right now that said it could be a possible cause of endometriosis, but I've never looked into that myself...and that would be uterus related, lol, so maybe he was just confused. But either way, like everyone else said, it's probably not a good idea.

That pool water causes endometriosis?

I'd loooove to see that research.

Not trying to be snarky with you - but I have endo and I have absolutely no idea how in the hell having sex in a pool would cause it.

Or under water in general rather - strike the pool water reference :)

I can't remember exactly what she said, but something along the lines that bacteria and water is pressed into your uterus through your cervix, which causes it to somehow grow on the outside of your uterus(which is what endo is, correct?), although I really have no clue as to how.
She has never stated this as public knowledge, but if you watch the show just once I'm sure she will mention it somewhere in one of the questions. I usually hear it every time I watch her show. However, I don't know about any of the research. I haven't looked into it that hard.

Endometriosis is uterine lining growing outside of the uterus and in other parts of the body. However, since leading research and endo "specialists" have absolutely no idea why or how endometriosis occurs (and I'm certaintly up to date on that as I have endo and a "specialist") I would take anything she has to say about endometriosis with a grain of salt.

I'm always paranoid water will get pushed up into my uterus and cause all kindsa fun infections, haha.
I'm sure it's not possible but it still scares me.

I heard that sex in water pushes a) air into your fallopian tubes and b) bacteria in a whole load of places you don't want.

Infections=nasty.

Best way to avoid it=sex in the shower. Do not underestimate it!

I saw the "talk sex with sue" episode ont hsi as well... though i've been told that it shouldn't cause any trouble because you'd need alot more force than just sex to push water into bad places. so unless it's horribly dirty/chemically water, I'd think it was ok? sex in the shower sounds great, too bad the shower is small, hard, and slippery :( I've tried, it was ridiculous and we ended up on the uncomfy floor instead.
