so, i'm a little confused.
if you know you've ovulated, be it through ovulation pain or whatever else, then if you wait a couple more days, are you then unfertile (read: safe to have unprotected sex) at least until your period arrives, maybe even during your period, as long as you give it around a week before you're next due to ovulate?

in other words, how long does it take for the egg to go 'too far' to become fertalised?

edit: i am not going to have unprotected sex, i'm just curious. i know that sperm can live for five days or so, but even giving a week's leeway BEFORE ovulation, and several days AFTER ovulation, that still leaves a lot of potentially 'safe' days in a 29 day cycle (my average is 29).

I am generally the face of perfection when it comes to taking my birth control pills on time. You could set your clock by me. So when I took my pill just now, I was surprised to see a pill was still in the blister labeled "Monday." I remember taking my pill last night, and I'm fairly certain I did on Sunday night, so perhaps Saturday was when I forgot?

I know that if I miss a pill, I'm simply supposed to take it as soon as I remember it. But since I "remembered it" possibly days later, is that going to compromise my protection? And if so, should I be concerned that I had sex last night? Should I grab some condoms for the next week or so?

Gracias.

I'm sorry if this might be a little off-topic, and I guess I should post is in [livejournal.com profile] sextips as well, but yall are so nice that I feel more comfortable asking it here. I hope yall don't mind too much.

Is it normal for your period to show up on different days of your sugar pill week? I normally get mine Tuesday or Wednesday morning (I’ve been on the pill for about 3 months and it’s been regular the whole time) and I have yet to even see spotting or hints that my period is on its way. I have no cramps or anything and I’m having a bit of a pregnancy scare right now and it’s giving me an ulcer. I just wish I’d fricking bleed already and put my mind at ease. I fear I may just keel over and die if it doesn't get here soon and buying a pregnancy test will make me die faster.

Any ideas?

*EDIT*

screw it. i'm going to buy a pregnancy test right now. i can't take it any more!

EDIT!!!!!!

NOT PREGNANT *dances*

I wanted to post an update for everyone who was into my last post about the guy I was really into and he didn't last very long in bed...like 3 minutes *lol*

WELL....he's a "rester". He blows his load nice an' early, and then rests a minute and then he can go for quite some time. *big smiles* I was very pleased after I found this out...

So...all in all...I'm a happy camper...it turned out alright!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please forgive me if this isn't supposed to be posted here. I looked through the other communities, but none of them were really geared toward miscarriage. My question is... how early into a pregnancy can one miscarry? And also.. is it just a lot of unbelievable pain, and bleeding?

Recently I've realised my PCOS hasn't really been treated appropriately by my doctor. I was barely given any information when I was diagnosed (I found out most of what I know through research online and talking to friends) and hasn't been checked since. a bit of background.. )

I have an appointment with my GP this afternoon and I need to be prepared so if anyone has any advice on what questions I should be asking and how I approach these subjects that would be great. I'm 25 and in the UK if that helps. Thanks.

I have a question about the feminine washes that are coming out right now.

I had seen a commercial for the Summer's Eve one awhile ago [link to website] and a commercial for a Vagisil one as well today [link to website].

Just wondering if anyone has tried any of these products and if they really worked. I would like to get one and probably will test them out but I'm curious if anyone has tried them.

**replies about not needing to change our scent, etc are unnecessary :) I personally don't enjoy my scent and would like to lessen it** -without lifestyle changes

All and any feedback is appreciated. Thank you!

While I was wandering around my house this morning I felt a glob of discharge exit my lovely vagina, so I headed off to the bathroom to investigate. What I found was a milky white liquid that wasn't watery but also wasn't super thick. I tasted it and it tasted reeaally bitter. Silly me didn't think of smelling it until later. This is the first time I've noticed this. I had a guy go down on me last night, so I'm going to ask him today if he thought I tasted/smelled normal. My question is, what is this bitter discharge? I checked the entries thinking it could be bv or something, but I couldn't find an entry that mentioned the taste of the discharge. Help!

Hi - I'm Angie and I'm new to the community. I'm 35 with two kids (ages 7 and 9) and almost three weeks ago I had a vaginal hysterectomy (ovaries intact - just removed uterus and cervix). I'd been dealing with painful lower back aches and living on Vicodin for a few months. After a laparoscopy, they found endometriosis and fibroids. The endo as taken care of in the lap, but the pain was still there - and getting worse. Since I didn't want any more children and didn't want to put any additional drugs like Lupron in my body (I have Lupus and already take meds for that), I had no problem with the hysterectomy. Anyway - I know the recovery time is six weeks, but it's been nearly four and I'm still needing pain pills some days. I was good for a while, but the back pain is still there. The dr says that during the recovery time, I will be achy and tired. For financial reasons, I am returning to my part time office job tomorrow, but wish I could be out for the whole six weeks.

I am wondering if anyone in the community has had a hysterectomy (ovaries intact). I don't know anyone who has and I'd like to connect and share experiences. I think it would be helpful for me just to not feel so alone in this. Thank you!

I have a question.

My period should just about be ending. My bleeding has tapered off as expected and all things are fine. Except...I am more moody than usual. By this time in my period, my hormones should be back to normal but they're not. During this period, my breasts did not get tender at all like they normally do. I am not on bc of any kind.

Does anyone know what can cause this? Any solutions?

Thank you all very much.

Hey everybody,
I'm going to be going on a trip this summer, first driving about three hours, and then a week later flying down to southern California (which will take about 2 hours). How do I store safe sex stuff (condoms, dental dams, etc etc) in these situations? I know you're not supposed to keep condoms in your car, will it damage them to sit in a hot suit case for a few hours in the car and airplane?
I would buy new stuff down there, but I really don't have the funds. I got all of this free at the pride parade in San Francisco (wee!)

Hey ladies. I did a quick search in the memories, but I've got to leave for work here in a few minutes so I dont have time for a real in-depth search.

I just got back from my pap, and they said that my cervix was kind of red. I'm fighting off some virus that's giving me throat problems, and they thought it was strep of the vagina (!!) but my strep test came back negative. So what makes a cervix red? Is it something that I should be worried about?

What is a cervical pollup and is it anything to worry about. I had one found during my post-partum check-up 9 weeks ago, and never heard anything about it. I'm guessing whatever it was turned up okay, but I never got what the heck it is. Thanks.

Hey there everyone just got back from this doctor that I’ve seen twice, she's a naturopath and my mother's doctor.
Anyways..We did a pap and an HPV test because I had lesions that were "diagnosed" as HPV by a really horrid doctor back home in Vancouver, she never did tests just assumed it was HPV. Same happened with my boyfriend, after 8 months of us sleeping together (protected) he got something that looked like warts on the shaft of his penis..He got them frozen off and everyone is fine now..

I went to her for like I said hpv test (which hasn't come back yet) and the PAP which came back with these results..

Mild Dysplasia and cellular changes associated with hpv...So we're assuming the hpv test will come out positive anyways (but I know you can have Dysplasia even without hpv)

She brought up a few things that I thought I’d ask for your opinions on..

For the Dysplasia she said it was basically pre cancer cells and in about 15 years it might start causing me problems, she said there is this natural thing I can do to get rid of the Virus of HPV and the Dysplasia because it's probably related to the hpv anyways..
She said she's had lots of patients where after this treatment is done all hpv tests come back negative..I was rather skeptical about the hpv test because I had never heard of it in Canada, she says it's new..It’s some type of a culture test she took when she did the pap...Ever heard of a test like that or ever done one? She says they are the most accurate thing out there and are about 3 years old.

2nd...About my boyfriend she said men do not carry the virus it's self and if you can't see any warts on the man than it's gone..Which I don't believe at all...She couldn't offer me any proof where it had that written..Any ideas about men not actually carrying it?
I really don't want to do 2 months of this natural thing with all these vitamins and doctor appointments and treatments to just get it again if it does go away..

She said with the Dysplasia I can just get that part of it cut off the way western medicine would do it but that doesn't do anything for the hpv it's self...I mean she does have lot's of patients that after all these their paps and hpv tests came back negative and never got "outbreaks" ever again...

Am I right to be skeptical or have any of you actually heard of any of this? I grew up with natural medicine but after hearing "the virus will never go away and men and women both can carry it and even if you can't see it (on both sexes) it's still there" i don't believe anything but that anymore..
I appreciate it if anyone actually had the patience to read all of these

Help?

I'm on Yasmin to make my periods more regular and not as birth control, since I'm a virgin. My doctor told me last time he prescribed me it that I could use it to skip a period, so I skipped my last two periods. I'm now four days off my next period which I do plan on having, and I've got an abdominal ache with occasional cramping and slight nausea (possibly because I've got a really low pain tolerance anyway). Is this a side effect of skipping periods, or something else? Normally I barely cramp at all and only ache on the first two days of my period.

This isn't really a question but more of a comment...

Does it drive any one else nuts that the speculum  makes that
clicking noise?  (metal ones anyway)  You're in a supremely
awkward position, the room is dead quiet, and you hear click click
click as the doc cranks that thing open.  I think a man must have
designed it, a women would have found a way to make the contraption
quiet.

I checked the archives as well as scoped out Google with no luck, although I must say I did come across some very interesting posts while reading the archives :)

On to my situation/question though, hopefully some of you could offer up some answers. I've been taking OTC-lo for close to a year, and I'm due for my period in roughly 5 days. The timing this month happens to be terrible, since I'm starting classes (summer school) in 6 days, and the first two days of my period are unbearable (I've spoken to my dr. about this and she deemed switching pills a bad idea for the time being). Sitting still for 4 hours, as well as comprehending what's being taught, and being sociable isn't seeming very likely.

Anyways, I was thinking of stopping my pills right now, which leaves two active pills and then the placebos. It's always been my understanding that stopping taking hormones usually results in a period... is this a correct assumption of mine? My hopes are that I'll get my period a few days early, so it'll be more managable/tolerable for when summer school starts. A second part to my question would be, should I wait until I stop bleeding (assuming I experience withdrawal bleeding) before starting a new pack, or should I only wait 7 days? Thanks in advance to anyone who might have some information/experiences/words of advice ♥

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm on the pill strictly for menstrual reasons, so protection isn't an issue.

Okay, I have tooo many questions and I've looked through everything, Hopefully I didn't miss anything that would have answered all my questions because my computer wont let me see most of what i should see on the internet, but here i go:

I went to the gyno today for the first time ever. I'm traumatized but it wasen't as bad as I thought it was going to be, the main reaon I went is because I wanted birth control.
My Doctor put me on Yasmin. I don't start taking the pills till this sunday since my period ended today. I got tested and I'm clean and my boyfriend is going this week to get tested (I refuse to have condomless sex with him untill he does get tested.)

so my questions are:

I'm on 500 mg 2x a day of both Biaxin and Cefuroxime for Lyme disease. It makes the yeast in my vagina very happy, as it kills off its mortal enemies know as the Vagidophilus Bacterius. Thus allowing the yeast to take over and rule my crotch.

So in order to stop the constant Vagidophilus genocide (perhaps genicide or gynocide?), and turn the tide against the foul yeast beasties, could I insert acidophilus capsules into enemy territory (aka my vagina)? Or would it somehow hurt the antibiotics I'm taking? I know I cannot take it orally too soon before or after taking the antibiotics (because then they don't work) and the less time I'm on these bad boys the better.

edit: Has anyone here taken Biaxin before? One of the most unpleasant side effects for me is the constant bad taste left in my mouth, unless I'm eating or drinking. This doesn't help my already sensitive stomach and is generally not cool. Does this go away after a certain amount of time?

I was hoping for some advice/support from you fine ladies.

I'm going to a running camp next month, right when I'm expecting my period. I usually use pads, never tried tampons, and I'm worried about it coming during the camp because my periods have been heavy lately. Any products you recommed or any solutions to the problems?

I usually skip my period around July or August and don't start up again until around November due to running around four miles everyday and being active. I was hoping that I might skip this period, but I don't want to count on that.

I'm going to be rooming with another girl, but I don't want to have a crisis at night with a bloody bed.

Thanks for your help!

I cant seem to find a sex problem community on live journal.. so I hope its ok to post this here for some advice..

I seem to have lost my sex drive..

I have been with my husband for 6 years.. we were married a month ago.. when we first met we were like rabbits.. for YEARS.. I was on BCP and I had an amazing sex drive.. everything was great.. then about 4 years into our relationship I started feeling guilty or dirty after sex.. or even thinking about sex.. I thought it had to do something with me going to church again.. we were engaged that summer and married like I said last month..

My husband is always horny.. and im not saying that in a bad way I promise.. during our two year engagement I would tell him that our sex life would go back to the way it was after we were married since I assumed the reason I didn’t want to have sex was because of the guilt from having sex before marriage.. blah blah blah.. well its been a month since I have been “allowed” to have sex.. (you know what I mean) and nothing has changed.. I STILL feel the same way I did before.

Now.. I am EXTREMELY attracted to my husband.. everything about him turns me on.. the way he smells.. looks.. you name it.. so I have severe attraction to him.. .... but as soon as we start making out and end up starting to have sex, I lose interest.. I feel like it’s the WRONG thing to do.. (as in its still a sin).. the weird thing is that I can masturbate often.. without FEELING guilty.. so I don't know why I feel this way.. The only things I can think of is the fact that our insurance is not 100% and im scared about getting pregnant and having a billion bills to pay.. (our insurance wont be 100% until January 2006.. right now its at 80%.). another issue is that I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism last March.. Now I know someone might say ‘maybe your sex drive has something to do with that’.. but I don't think so, since I get turned on enough to masturbate often.. but I am terrified of getting pregnant without me being stabilized.. the Dr. told me to be really careful until my levels were normal since it can cause all sorts of serious problems with the fetus.. (I am still working on getting me levels normal)

I'm just so tired of feeling this way.. I want to be able to make love to my husband and feel GREAT about it.. I feel so sad that he has to go to bed without it.. he is soooo good to me about it too.. he never makes me feel guilty.. and he is extremely lovable even when I deny him sex.. I also don't feel married.. we had lived together for 5 years so it feels like we are still boyfriend girlfriend and not husband and wife.. I am just hoping that someone might be able to give me some advice to my problem.. I would love to see a DR about it but unfortunately we don't have the means to do so yet.. so any good advice would be wonderful.. thanks..

Okay, so yesterday i got adventurous and decided to check out what tampons are like (since i'm at my sister's house and can use hers without spending money, teehee). It took a while to completely figure out, as can be expected, and how it felt afterwords was also a little expected, but i'm a bit concerned...

It felt a little pinchy around the opening for a while, and there was a little dull pain on the inside that grew to become mild to moderate cramps (when before i put it in- i had none). I couldn't stand having it in me for more than 2 hours and took a while of tugging before i finally got it out. It wasn't really the cramping that made me take it out, more like a gut feeling of repulsion of what was inside me...

While the yuck that i felt in that 2 hours was not altogether frightning for an experience with tampons for the first time (I was almost expecting half of it), I'm concerned as to how my body will react when i get a Divacup. I'm worried that my body will reject it just as fast as it did the tampon (though i know the diva is so incredibly healthier than tampons).

I'm also thinking that maybe since I've read so much on how tampons are so horribly bad that my body just rejected it because of what I read. -I've vowed to not use tampons ever again and i'm waiting patiently for when i can afford a diva cup-

So before i go repeating myself in a tired stupor, what thinks ye, ladies? Am i scaring myself away from tampons and do i have reason to fear my body's rejecting stuff getting shoved up there?
