I thought this question was asked before but I couldn't find it. Anyhow. I want to buy a vibrator, what is a good site to find one at, also which one would be less in price? Anyone know if you can have it shipped to another address then the one that is from the credit card? (its kinda a joke for a friend and I want it sent to her house)

Anyhow, thank you and I apologize if this had been asked and I didn't see it.

Yeek!

I found this little peice of myth on the http://www.snopes.com webpage. It's amazing how these stories can still circulate in today's world. More people really do need a basic knowlage of anatomy.

Can a yeast infection, or a supposed yeast infection, delay your period?

Can yeast infections occur for over a week without funky discharge?

oi. so many questions.

Piercing.

Okay if you want to get your nipple pierced how can it affect you long term and short term, like say breast-feeding and stuff, I mean, would you just take them out and let them heal and then you'd be able to breast-feed, can you never breast-feed or can you leave them in? Maybe I sound naive but you never know until you learn...so now I will know.
Thanks in advance.

So, for the approximate 10 years that I've had my period now, it has always been fairly regular -- 28 day cycle, 5 day periods. I've never experienced a change from this that was larger than a day or so, until this month. Right now, I am on the 9th day of my period. It hasn't been lighter than usual or anything like that, it's just lasting a hell of a lot longer. Any ideas what could be causing this, and should I be worried?

Thank you!

I've heard that a lot of women get on a regular antibiotic regimen for reoccurring after-sex UTIs. I thought this might be the best idea for me until I realized that, hey, I'm on the Pill. I can't really do that.

The obvious thing to do would be to just use condoms, but no...I'm a paranoid little girl and I wouldn't have sex anywhere near as often if I weren't using both condoms and birthcontrol. Which means there would be no need to take the antibiotics.

So, aside from wiping front-to-back and using the bathroom before and after sex, which I do to no avail...what can I do to prevent reoccuring UTIs?

Also, my boyfriend pointed out that I seem to not get infections when I'm completely relaxed and I actually manage to orgasm...a rare occurance when we both live at home and I'm always worried about who might come in. Plus, I get a little uncomfortable during sex sometimes because of past abuse. Do you think there is any truth to this theory?

so two weekends ago, i had sex and the condom came off. he hadn't ejaculated, but i'm not on birth control pills for a number of reasons, and so i went to a clinic and got morning-after pills (levlite) just in case.

now, my period has started a week early, and it's much lighter than usual -- i haven't had any of the more globby bits that usually come out of me on the first few days. if anything, i would have thought that my period should be heavier.

so, has anyone heard of this happening? should i be worried? it occurred to me that this could be the spotting that they warned me about, but it's been going for several days and there has consistently been at least some blood.

anyone have any insight on this?

I was doing some research for an upcoming tattoo, and I came across this website that has pictures of uteri that have been removed from people. They are amazing, and if you have ever been curious as to what your insides look like, you should check it out *grin.*

I know this isn't a medical forum, but oh well. I was just wondering, my girlfriend has this minor infection, and she needs to make sure as to whether it's serious or not (probably not, her sister and some of her friends have had something similar and all she needed was some antibiotics).

The thing is, her dad is making her come home so that she can see one of his best friends, who happens to be a gynecologist. My girlfriend is Korean, and so is the gynecologist, so the normal patient confidentiality laws / code of conduct don't apply (i.e., if her dad's gynecologist friend discovers she's had recent sexual activity, there's going to be a big mess for her). That's just the reality of the situation.

My question is -- it would be great if someone knew the answer to this -- is if it is possible for gynecologists to be able to determine from looking down there whether or not there's been recent sexual activity.

Is it possible to have a miscarriage and not know about it? By that I mean not have any problems, no pains, nothing, not even knowing you were pregnant in the first place? The reason I ask is because about a year ago I passed this HUGE clot, probably about the size of my fist, and my period was no where near due. After that I bled, like a medium-type period, it wasn't real heavy. But if I can remember correctly, it only lasted for a couple days, and when I have real periods, I get them for 7 days. I've just been thinking about it a lot lately. Are really large clots normal?

Maybe I'm just retarded, but I heard it is possible, and you guys are great with this stuff.

so i've been readin this community for a while and never posted... and ive been seeing these posts about external yeast infections lately, which made me wonder, cos i had been itchy all around the outside of my vaginal area for about 2-3 months now but i just thought my skin was irritated from something like the weather or what not since i didnt have any discharge or smell funky or anything... but then i realized, i should not have to deal with being itchy!! so i went to the doc this morning and she said i had an external yeast infection and gave me diflucan.
so to all those girls who have an itch on the outside, but no other symptoms, it could still be a yeastie! dont live with it for 3 months like i did!

So, every period, I get "digestive problems" (aka - I get the shits) the day my period begins.
Well, you know how men can get couve ?(sp?) (aka sypathy pregnancy symptoms, weight gain, morning sickness, cravings, ect..) well, Jason got that with both my babies. It seems though, that now, he is having sympathy period symptoms too! Last month, I was having diarhea, and major cramping. Well, so was he, at the same time. I figured we ate something bad. well, later that night, I started my period, and the cramps and shits went away. So did his.

Well, yesterday, he said he was having "stomach problems" all day, and cramps. I started cracking up. "whats so funny?" he asks. I tell him, well, Im supposed to start my period this week. (but not till thursday). A few hours later, I started, and his stomach ache went away. I didnt even get cramps this time! (haha!) I just looked at him and said " I told you!" (because i mentioned he was having sympathy periods, he thinks Im crazy) SO, is this possible?

Ok, and now the real question, I always eat like a starving horse right before my period - specificly craving meat and milk (and I hate milk) anyone else? do any of you know why?

question!

DivaCup

Jul. 14th, 2004 09:52 pm
[identity profile] neoterrikae.livejournal.com
This is kind of random, but I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who mentioned the DivaCup in this community.. I read about it a couple months ago, ordered it and got it for $25 including s&h from this website: http://www.tendertouchcare.com/product_info.php?cPath=27&products_id=261 (they give 10% off to new members), received it in 3 days and tested it out immediately. My first week had me fumbling with it, begging my poor vagina to take it even though it wasn't a friendly penis, or penis shape.. it was awkward then, but now, it's almost a cinch to put in and take out.. so I really love it and want to thank all of you for bringing it to my attention.

Now, however, I have a question. The women in my family have a history of ovarian cysts and other probs that cause very heavy bleeding during menstruation.. My aunt-aged 42- (whom i'd like to have try the DivaCup out) is a particularly heavy bleeder (soaking through overnights in a couple of hours), and she cannot wear tampons because they're useless for her. Would the DivaCup be a good solution? or is it likely that she'd have to empty and clean it too frequently for it to even be useful for someone like her??

Also, is there a certain minimum age for divacup wearing? Can someone who's just starting their period wear it for example, or is it recommended that it not be worn until someone has experienced sexual intercourse and is at least familiar with that area down there. Inserting the divacup is slightly more complicated than inserting a tampon (cause the damn thing keeps popping open if you don't have a good grip).

Oh, I have one more random question.. I keep reading everywhere that after childbirth, and as women grow older in general, the vaginal muscles grow more lax and stretch so that a woman loses her tightness. If one exercises one's kegals before and after pregnancy, is it possible to return to the tightness one had in one's youth? Also, does having strong kegals make delivery harder because the canal is much tighter requiring you to stretch more? I always figured that when women say that by the time their pushing out their 3rd or so child, it's not painful, I figured that it wasn't because they were used to it, but because their muscles grew more lax and aren't really fighting to stay tight, so they baby just slides forth from these lax muscles.. if there is some validity to that, wouldn't that mean that by keeping those muscles tight and "youthful," one is ensuring painful pregnancies for oneself?

Also, what gratification does a woman get from having tight vaginal muscles? Is the gratification solely for her male partner???

for those of you familiar with www.mum.org...

Radio station rejects ad for this museum

I love classical music. When my favorite classical station in this Washington, D.C., area, WBJC, in Baltimore, held its last fund-raising campaign, it offered to run one ad of the contributor's creation five times on any available day for $180. The ads had to fit a certain short format and adhere to FCC regulations - not be obscene, no call to action, etc. - and could have either business or personal content.

So I sent in the following: "This program is brought to you in part by your MUM, the museum of that time of the month. Its Web site is at http//:www.mum.org[.]"

Shortly afterwards the fund-raising manager left a message on my voice mail to call her. She said that the ad would not do and that she would send me a new form for another ad.

I asked what I should change to make the ad acceptable.

She said the station manager did not approve of the content of the MUM Web site. Later, in a letter, she told me that he said the content was inappropriate for the station's listeners. But there was nothing in the instructions I received restricting subject matter.

They need to read the quote here as to why menstruation is important to talk about.

So I asked for and got my $180 donation back, and I returned three CDs they sent me.

What if the manager had been a woman? Or what if the ads had been for the general topic of women's health, or an AIDS marathon or raising money for breast cancer? Would the word "breast" have offended the manager, à la U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft's covering up of the bared marble breast of Justice behind him in press conferences? Are diseases more mentionable than normalcy? Strange!

When I started the museum I thought that intelligent, educated folks - I bet they comprise the bulk of the classical music audience - would react, well, intelligently to it, but 10 years of this museum in virtual and real form have taught me that most people, smart or dumb or in the middle, can't come to grips with menstruation.

Just as the Fox Network couldn't, as related in the Michael Moore item right below.

So that's why they must visit the Museum of Menstruation and Women's Health.

No, not Mum, but MUM's the word!

Oh, by the way, Larry Bryant, a friend of mine as well of the First Amendment and the ONLY person to encourage me to start the museum when it was in the thinking stage, is encouraging me to file suit against the station.

Hope this isn't off topic, but I couldn't believe this. Well, wait, I can believe it, but it's ridiculous.

I have been to the gyno about this at least four times so far this year, and she hasn't helped me at all. Like she's not even trying. So, it's time to ask you lovely ladies. Sorry, this will probably be long.
