i've been having yeast infections on and off for three or four months now. just when i start to feel comfortable again, i get another infection. over the course of those few months, i've had non-condom sex with my SO. he has not at any point had any redness or irritation, so we assumed that he wasn't catching the infection.

my question: is it possible that he has a yeast infection with absolutely NO symtpoms, and that we are passing it back and forth? we just got back from vacation, and i'm sending him to his doctor to find out if he could have an infection, but i thought i'd ask your opinions.

also, if it isn't him that's giving me the infection, could i have a serious problem? i've heard horror stories about chronic yeast problems that can actually be fatal. i'm confused about why i keep getting such bad infections, and it's starting to take an emotional toll, too. (for one thing, i can't have sex with my boyfriend.)

also (and i realize i need to ask a doctor about this, too) - is it normal for them to be so uncomfortable/painful that i'm almost in tears? and that walking for too long makes me feel like someone is scraping the insides of my labia with sandpaper?

thanks so much for any input; this is making me very nervous and i guess i'm looking for reassurance, more than anything.
