venting

so i went back to the doctor today and found that the first round of treatment with metrogel didn't kill my case of BV...so she prescribed Cleocin 2%, because it's stronger but not the oral antibiotic, which is, I hear, kind of nasty. This is a cream. A 7-day formula.

7 more days of being infected, not being able to have sex, and feeling generally icky about it. I'm just frustrated - I'm doing everything right, but it's still slow and resistant. I want to be healthy again! :P

As least 100 Kenyan girls are in hiding from their parents as they seek to escape forced Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

I'm glad that they've learned that there is an option, and that there's a place for them to hide. I hope that having an intact vulva is prized by men these women will be with in the future.

i've been getting a discharge from my vagina more so than usual for about the past week (since the last time i had sex). i usually get a lot of discharge when i'm horny, but now i've been getting a feeling that i have my period (from the wetness of it) and everytime i check, i don't. it's not even near my period. i have gotten wet before from just thinking about sexual things, but i've been getting wet just lying in my bed thinking about homework or school. just to give you some facts to go on, i'm 15, almost 16, i have sex about once or twice a week (i know it couldn't have anything to do with stds because me and my boyfriend have only ever had sex with each other) and i've always been able to get _really_ wet, but not randomly like this. could this just be a phase, or might it be something else?

sorry for cross-posting...

am i the only woman who likes getting her period. seriously, i look forward to it. i mean, i didn't always feel this way, but after taking control of what i was putting in my body (hello keeper, the infrequent organic tampon, and cherry pit heating pad; good-bye scary bleached tampons and aspirin/ibuprofen.) and around my body (just a towel at night and, i mean, who doesn't love washable pads?), it's something i look forward to every month. i'm much more sexually-aroused when i'm on it, and i feel like i truly am in touch with my body, women, and nature, the cosmos, etc., in general.

does anyone else feel this way?

i just felt i should post this because so much of what i've been reading in this community has been not-so-positive. don't get me wrong: i understand that our vaginas can do weird and scary things, and we need a forum for discussing those things, but where's the celebration?

What's going on where you live for V-Day? Please leave a comment to this post to let everyone know. And even if you don't know of an event, read this post's comments often to see how you can participate in V-Day in your community!

SEATTLE -- February 12-14: The Vagina Monologues at the University of Washington. Performances start at 7pm in the HUB Auditorium. First-come first-seated, admission is free for students and staff.

A part of the proceeds will go to the fantastic organization Home Alive (you may remember it being mentioned in Inga Muscio's classic book Cunt.) I will be there for all three performances because I work with Home Alive -- if you plan to attend, please stop by the Home Alive table and say hi! It would be beyond cool to meet some new VPers!

Now it's your turn!

keeper

so there's been a lot of talk about the keeper lately (maybe constantly, and i've just been noticing it lately) and i've had a keeper for 2 years now and love it like a child (haha)

here's my question though: has anyone else had experiences with not having a place to rinse it in public? i usually will use a handicapped stall with a sink if i'm in this position but sometimes there just isn't one.

i AM pretty open about it and have been known to just rinse it out in the normal sinks but it's a bit hard to make it a non-messy situation. When i saw Bitch and Animal last year on my birthday in October, i had to rinse it out in the bathrooms and there was no stall with a sink so i just yelled (very Cunt of me) "hey, i'm rinsing out my keeper so close you're eyes if you're gonna call it gross!" then tugged down my skirt and went out. Well EVERYONE looked and no one said a nasty word to me (i actually wrote down the website for a lot of women that day)

thing is, that was really liberal crowd. it makes me nervous to just do that in any old public place.

this article about anaphylactoid reactions associated with menstruation is very interesting. especially this quote: Exacerbations of chronic urticaria and asthma are well described in relation to the menstrual cycle. i wasn't aware of that, although i'm not sure why i'm surprised. does anyone know anything more about this?

vulva rings

I remember someone posting a link to a site where you could buy rings shaped like different vulvas - does anyone remember what those were called or what the link was?

I've tried the archives, and searching google, but I can't find them anywhere. I'd like to tell my friends about them and get one myself. :)

Thank you!
