Hello! 

Thru experience, I believe combined HBC triggers intense headaches/migraines.  I did well on Depo in the past, however, I do not want to continue long-term due to bone density concerns.  I am using a POP as my secondary form of pregnancy prevention now.  My finance uses condoms as the primary form of protection.  I just cannot seem to take my pill within the 3 hour window for it to be effective.

We are long-term, monogamous, without STIs, and have enjoyed sex w/o condoms when I was on NuvaRing and headache-prone. 

My question: Can anyone recommend a gynecologist who is kind, smart, and will insert Implanon for me?

I live in Chicago (Andersonville/Edgewater area, likely moving to one of the West Town neighborhoods).  I work in the loop (Wells & Jackson) and I commute out to Schaumburg 1 or 2x per week.  Ideally, a recommended physician would be accessible from one of my workplaces.  Super-ideally, accessible from downtown via public transportation.  I do have a car, I am willing to drive there. 

Bonus if this physician is also a good obstetrician.  I am 25 and do not plan to have kids for several years, but would be happy to support a pregnancy should that happen.  I like building relationships with doctors.

Soo I didn't see this posted anywhere, so I figured it was ok to ask =) If Its already been asked please don't be mad at me...I just joined today, because a friend is a member and she said this is the perfect place for me to ask...sooo wondering...I'm not happy with the size of my breasts...they barely fill an "A" cup, its very sad...and I don't want breast implants, so I was going to start taking an herbal supplement to make them grow naturally on their own....Will this effect my bc??? And if so, in what ways???

Has anyone ever tried the G-Shot?

I've been sexually active since November of 2005 and have never experienced a vaginal orgasm, and only clitoral orgasm about 30% of the time during sexual intercourse. I seriously feel like I'm missing out on something. My boyfriend has become almost as desperate to solve this as I have, and he mentioned that a female friend of his tried this with amazing results.

I do plan on scheduling a consultation with a doctor that performs the procedure, but I was wondering if anyone could share personal experiences?

So this passed month I screwed up my BC really really bad. There were days when I went about two to three days without taking it and then doubling up, etc. Well I was also having sex with no condom or any protection other than my bc. He pulled out (which ya I know isn't a great method, whatever) so I was supposed to get my period about 2 weeks ago. I didn't start up a new pack just in case I am pregnant so it's not like starting the new pack prevented it from coming or anything. I'm not stressed out about it so it's not a stress issue thats holding it back.

Do you think I'm pregnant? I have no idea if I should be having symptoms or not. I'm really tired and weak but that's about all I'm feeling right now.

and for the record, I wasn't on bc to PREVENT pregnancy, I started birth control when I was 17 (22 now) because of my extremely heavy period)

Vitamin C, Pregnancy

I've searched for this but can't find anything that relates to what I'm trying to find. So last night my FWB and I were having sex and the condom came off and he pulled out as soon as we realized. He hadn't come yet, but there was pre-ejaculate, so we put on a new condom. My period should come in about a week, so I feel like I'm pretty fertile right now, however since he hadn't come yet I don't feel like I got sperm in me. I could just be in denial, though.

I want to know if its possible to induce my period with Vitamin C so that it comes early and a possible fertilized egg won't implant in my uterus.

My other option is EC, but I'd rather not take that because I don't think my risks of pregnancy are that high. I also don't want to deal with all the side effects. It's only been about 8 hours tho, so I still have time.

Vaginal lubrication after a bowel movement....

Do any of you ever get vaginal lubrication/mucus come out when you have a bowel movement?

I've been getting a lot recently and just assumed it was something to do with a particular gland being stimulated when I have a bowel movement.

I guess I just wanted to check that I was 'normal' and it wasn't a bad thing or something...

Hi everyone. I just switched from Tri Sprintec to Yasmin and things are not going well for me. I had sex on tuesday and my boyfriend came inside of me (we're monogamous), now I feel like I'm burning up down there. Usually I get a weird fishy smell for two or three days without itching after having sex without condoms but it goes away. However, for the past two months or so I've noticed that I haven't been getting as wet as I used to (which I attributed to the Tri Sprintec). After having the sex on tuesday (which we had to use lube for because I just could not get very wet), I did not have that weird fishy smell, instead I woke up on thursday with some terrible itching and now I have a burning feeling down there. There's no cottage cheese type discharge though and no abnormal smell at all. My discharge is kind of sticky and kind of whitish, but there isn't a lot of it, in fact, my vagina feels kind of dry. I was thinking it might be some sort of yeast infection so I am trying to cut yeast and sugar out of my diet, I eat at least one chocolate bar a day and don't drink more than two cups of water a day (super terrible, working on that). I was also thinking that it might be my birth control because I am allergic to corn and it has corn starch in it. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow to try Ortho Evra instead of the Yasmin, but I was wondering if anyone here has experienced what I'm experiencing and if you have any sort of advice for me. Thanks!

Phthalates in jelly toys--how to tell?

Hi, wonderful members of vagpag.

I'm concerned about phthalates in jelly-style sex toys. For this reason, I buy only hard plastic, silicone, or glass toys from reputable sources (i.e. Good Vibrations, Babeland, etc.) However, I am looking at a new sex toy company because a friend is involved with them, and I noticed that on their website many of their toys are described as "jelly" or simply "soft" with no details of their construction.

When I voiced my concerned and asked for more details about the content of the various sex toys, I received the following responses:

"None of our products contain phthalates."
"ALL of our products are made in FDA approved labs with pharmaceutical-grade materials."
"[Company] is a member of CAHPA (www.cahpa.com) which has regulations for our products that we MUST adhere to."

What do you all think? Would you trust them? Of course it sounds good to say everything is safe and phthalate-free, but the lack of disclosure on their website makes me nervous, and to be honest, this is probably not a company I would chose to purchase from on my own. Am I being too paranoid?

Help ASAP. Stuck tampon

I put a tampon in a 9 oclock this morning. Its now 3 pm and i want to take it out.
So i did the usual washed my hand and then proceded to pull it out. Everything was good until about half way , it got stuck. So i relaxed a gently tried to pull it out the rest of the way but it wont budge and hurts when i pull too hard. I need it out because i have work in an hour and cant really walk with half a tampon sticking out . Please help asap

EDIT: I got it out. I wet it a little and then layed down with calm music playing took a few deep breaths and it slipped out easily.

sex ok if ruptured blood vessel?

had sex like two weeks ago today. apparently a blood vessel was ruptured, so my ob/gyn says, and i am still bleeding. and i haven't shown many signs of stopping. she said it would stop "within the week" on wednesday. but. does that mean, by next wednesday, or within this week.. or... has this happened to anyone else and did you ever stop bleeding?

ALSO. i sort of want to have sex again anyway, but would this make it impossible for me to heal?

Strange blister on nipple

Hi ladies I am 12 weeks pregnant today and within the past three days a blister-type bump has appeared on my right nipple. Earlier today I actually plucked it off because it was causing a lot of pain as it was rubbing against my bra. It seemed very simliar to a skin tag in that it was barely connected to my nipple, but smack dab in the center. I haven't had any discharge from either breast yet. This is the first strange occurence. After showering today I noticed it had turned from a pink skin color to a deep shade of red like a blood blister. I have checked a couple of sites and all of them say things about women who are nursing. I am not nursing and will not be nursing for another 6 months or so.

Does anyone know what this was or how to prevent it?

Hair Loss

So a month after getting an ovary removed (last August) I had some hairloss, but my gyn changed my birth control pill and it slowed down. Just about 2 months ago I had a Mirena inserted, and I stayed on my birth control another month just to be safe. Well, after I went off of the pill I have had some horrible hair loss. Has anyone experienced this after going off the pill? When did it slow down for you? I have added a lot of flaxseed to my diet and I have been taking Evening Primrose Oil to help things balance out. But I'm freaking out - I don't want to end up with a bald head!

Anti-depressants

Can someone give me some advice on how to approach a doctor about being put on anti depressants? For more then just depression (sexual reasons)? I feel uncomfortable asking any doctor for meds unless its their idea so I dont know what to do. Thanks!

Spotting on new form of birth control

Hey there everyone! So  I just have a quick question birth control. I just started on Microgestin, which is my third kind of Pill in the past year. I started it on time, last monday, and had no problems for the first week. Then, yesterday evening, Thursday and all through today I've had some really minor spotting. I know this is perfectly normal when starting a new type of birth control, but I've never experienced it through all my other pill starts and changes. Now on to my question! I was wondering if spotting could lower the effectiveness of the pill? I had sex with out a condom twice on tuesday and wednesday, and I just wanted to make sure I was okay, protection wise. Any thoughts?

on wednesday, i found out that i was pregnant. it's been about 6 weeks since my last period.

i had a feeling that i might've been pregnant; i just didn't want to believe it.

i mostly didn't want to believe it because the guy responsible was at home, in nor cal, and i was at home in OC (he's done with school until fall, but i have summer school in a few days. we're both students at UCSB).

backstory: i guess he's technically not my boyfriend -- just a jerk who ended up using and taking advantage of me. i was dumb and naive. what started out as a crush ended up a messy emotional attachment. he was the first (and only) boy i'd ever slept with and i let him have his way far too often. he especially never wanted to put on a condom during sex. he always made he feel like condoms were to be used on girls with STIs. eventually i stopped pressing him about it because i came to trust him. he had no STIs, i had no STIs, so whatever. he also told me he knew better than to knock me up and i took his word for it because for months (we'd been "together" since january '08), it never happened.

well, this changed in mid-june. in a bathroom. in target.

when i told him about it, he tried to deny that it was his (although there is no other way it could be anyone else's), before just telling me to "just take care of it", that there was nothing he could do, and to call him back when i did figure out what to do. when i tried to call him back later, he stopped answering my calls altogether and wouldn't return any of my messages.


so now i'm wondering what to do.


what i really want is for him to pay for half of the abortion. i feel like it's what we've both agreed on. i really don't feel that it's fair for me to pay for the entire thing (not to mention, i don't think i can pay for the entire thing by myself, even with insurance. i think it's still going to be $300+).


what i'm asking is:
is there anything i can do to make him pay half the costs? has anybody been in a similar situation?



edit: i just wanted to thank everyone who responded to this post. mentally, i am in a better place than i was before i and i feel much more equipped to handle the situation now. :)
