Hair Loss

So a month after getting an ovary removed (last August) I had some hairloss, but my gyn changed my birth control pill and it slowed down. Just about 2 months ago I had a Mirena inserted, and I stayed on my birth control another month just to be safe. Well, after I went off of the pill I have had some horrible hair loss. Has anyone experienced this after going off the pill? When did it slow down for you? I have added a lot of flaxseed to my diet and I have been taking Evening Primrose Oil to help things balance out. But I'm freaking out - I don't want to end up with a bald head!

Sorry this doesn't exactly pertain to your question.

What exactly does Flaxseed do for people? I mean, why do people add it into their diets, what benefits, etc?

Thanks!

Maybe you could try Prenatal vitamins? My friend's mum takes them and her hair got thicker/longer as did her nails. It might be worth a shot?

Good luck.

Wow, it sounds like a mini-miracle. =D

Well, if I take it and I don't have an estrogen problem (I'm assuming I don't) will it still be okay? And does it matter how much I eat - my friend has a huge bag she never touches and I know I'm welcome too. I'm not going to scarff down the whole bag, but I might use more than a teaspoon...

I have poor skin, nails and hair - this may help! Thank you!

Alright. Thank you!

Can I hand grind it? I don't have a coffee grinder or anything, but I have a medicine bowl grinder (which I love).

Does it kill the effect if it's not ground, even if I chew it (which sounds gross)?

Thanks for answering all my dumb questions, by-the-way.

Chewing it is fine, and you should still get a good , I just eat my daily amount out of a little shot glass gradually. I think they taste fantastic. Make sure that you don't buy pre-ground, because it goes rancid much faster. Careful how much you take though, around a tablespoon and you may run into some really interesting bowel issues.

Flax (I actually call it linseed) is delicious! I love it in breads and things but from what I've noticed the digestive system has little effect on whole seeds... in other words, they pass through whole. Grinding, even with just a mortar and pestle, would probably help in getting some of the goodness out of the seeds and into you. :)
