yep, im a junior in high school and i am learning to drive.

my boyfriend actually cant drive, because hes always lived somewhere with a subway and has never needed to!

he is a college graduate currently working a retail job, like me. he is paying off undergrad and wondering about grad school, and i am saving for undergrad.

we agreed that we would not rush into anything like marriage until after 1.) i was of legal age 2.) we'd lived together 3.) we were both at least mostly done or into our educations

we both love to travel, and have the same "someday" dream of running a used cd store/music venue/record label/related music thing. he has said himself "i would rather wait for a happy ending then push it too much right now and make it worse, especially for your parents who, understandably, arent too happy about it."

one of the things that made me feel confident entering into this relationship was the complete LACK of power struggle. :)

the debate for this is EXACTLY what the juliet society was created.
take the debate there. thats what its for.

Okay, I was in a forum yesterday and people were talking about birth control pills... One lady in there said, "Birth control can kill unborn babies so I don't use it." I told her that it doesn't cause abortion, it merely prevents pregnancy... She insists that her doctor informed her that it can, in fact, cause abortion.

She directed me to this site: http://www.angelfire.com/ut/ProLife/facts.html

So uh... Can someone tell me whether or not it actually does cause abortion? I was under the impression that it 1) prevents ovulation, 2) thickens cervical mucus to help prevent fertilization in case ovulation does occur, and 3) helps prevent a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus, if he first two things fail.

I've never heard anything about it "killing unborn babies".

(Oh, and I just recently started birth control myself [and keep posting about it ;-)], and my boobs are very sore. Just moving without a bra on hurts. This is just temporary, right?)

Is there any way, besides starting birth control, to change one's menstrual cycle? My period always falls on the first of the month, which happens to be my boyfriend's and my anniversarry. He's very much not into period sex, and we'd both be upset if we couldn't have it on our special day. I've read about inducing a period with parsley tea, but does that work at any time of the month? And is it safe to do for a long time? Thanks!

I've never had any problems with any period-related symptoms, such as PMS, cramps, etc., however, the day before I got my period and for the first day of my period, my boobs were sore and felt heavier, denser, and bigger. I have a few friends who get this same feeling during their periods, but this had never happened to me before. Now, on the last day of my period, they no longer feel sore, heavy, or dense, but they are still definitely bigger. I kind of thought that I had stopped growing because I didn't grow at all for about two years, but in the past four months I've shot up two inches and I suppose that my boobs might be jealous, and I'm seventeen so I should have guessed I wasn't done. My bras are all fitting weirdly if they fit at all, and I was wondering how long I should wait before I assume that they're staying this size and blow my money on new bras. Since I've never had this happen because of my period before, I don't know how long it usually takes for them to go back to their normal size so I have no way of knowing if this is just because of my period or if it's coincidental timing. Thanks in advance.

i've been having a very irritated and itchy vagina for the past two days, so i diagnosed myself as having a yeast infection and used a Monistat 1 ovule. i'm wondering if it's alright to take a shower or if i have to wait a while for it to do its thing. what do you ladies think about this product? does it work well?

thank you.

sharp pain

i was talking to a friend of mine about a problem i've sort of been having and she suggested i ask all of you.

every once in a while i have this extremely sharp pain in my lower abdomen, in between my left hip and the center of stomach, that lasts about 5-10 seconds and then goes away completely. it doesn't happen very often, i guess probably about once a month. but when it does happen it is EXTREMELY painful, but i've never really thought anything of it until now because it goes away and i forget about it. it's only happened a few times now, but then yesterday morning when it happened it seemed to hurt more than it ever had before. and then later yesterday night when my friend and i were dancing pretty wildly it started to hurt again for probably 20 seconds or so, but not the sharp pain - it was almost like a cramp pain?

does this sound at all familar to anyone? and advice would be appreciated. i'm going to have it checked if it happens again - i just wanted to know if anyone here had expirienced/heard of this at all.

thank you so much!

edit: also i dont know if this could be related but i thought i would just throw it out there - a week or so ago my boyfriend was fingering me and when he went really, really deep i felt a dull, but strong, pain in that same area.

a question

I'm not sure how to word this but how developed is a fetus that is about 14 weeks old? Is the it even developed enough so when you get an ultrasound you can see like legs (for example) forming? or does it just look like a big blob on the ultrasound still? at how many weeks does body parts start to form so they are visible on the ultrasound?

I have a question about Ortho Evra, aka the birth control patch. I've been on it for two years, and I love it. However, I'm starting to experience pregnancy symptoms, and I want to take a test. My question is: will the hormones in the patch give me an accurate reading on a pregnancy test, without me having to take it off and wait until I get my period again to take a pregnancy test?

Any help is appreciated - the Ortho Evra website, FDA website, and Planned Parenthood have offered no answers. Their 1-800 number is also down for the weekend, and my doctor is out of town. Also, the Vag-Pag archives have nothing on this. :(

So, I'm hearing a lot of talk of drinking parsley tea to induce a period.

Do you buy it? If you make it, how? Do you have side effects?

How long before your period is due have you taken it with positive results?

The other day, I commented to someone about reflexology to induce a period too. I know little about it *even though I was certified in half-assed reflexology through cosmetology school, ha!* A girl I was casual aquaintences with used reflexology to induce a period early, because it was set to begin on her wedding day...has anyone heard of/done this? If so, any info. you could tell me would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Do any of you ladies that use Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo smoke?
I've been on the pill for about a year now and just recently took up a bit of smoking. (not too often, an every now and then, at the most one a day type thing.)
I read the warnings about smoking on the website but I just wanted to hear first hand:

Did you ever get any symptoms that may happen when taking the pill and smoking?
Does smoking interact with the pill itself, (not preventing pregnancy?)

And any other advice or things pointed out would be great!

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Though I appreciate everyone looking out for my habits and my health in the long-run, I would really just like to keep this entry to smoking : pill. Thank you!

I'll keep things short and simple. I'm going into day 15 of my period. Is this a serious problem?

I have sex with my boyfriend (on the 21st) and about 2 hours later I started bleeding and I have done so since. I'm not on any birth control, but I am usually pretty regular. I'm also not in any pain.

I've googled this and checked faqs but nothing is really coming up. Should I be worried about the excessive bleeding?

Update: I slept on it (literally, I suppose) and tried again the next day. It was difficult, but I did manage to remove the cup. Huzzah! I think I just need more practice.. or I need to stop doing kegals, because I can barely fit two fingers inside if I try. Thank you so much for all your suggestions! They made me giggle and calm down.

Hey there...

I just purchased a "B" Keeper Cup today. I inserted it without much hassle, but now, trying to remove it...I can't. I just spent the last fifteen minutes digging around up there so long, my vagina is very irritated and in pain now. I'm getting a bit freaked out that I can't remove this thing no matter how hard I try.

It hasn't been in too long (only about an hour or so--I was practicing using it), so it's not exactly imperative it comes off now... but I'm actually a little teary now because it's scaring me. When I try to grab the stem, my fingers just slip off, and when I try to grip the base of the cup, same thing. It's.. suck. I can't relieve the suction pressure at all.

Help, please, has anyone had this problem before?? I don't want to go to the hospital over something t stupid...
