I got the first shot of the series on March 15. Anyway, the nurse told me it would hurt. My shoulder ached for 2 days afterwards. Then it felt better. but it's just aching today in the area where the shot was given. Anyone else experience this?

I have to go back for shot #2 in May and Im afraid because it really did hurt last time:( Shots aren't all that bad for me but this shot hurt!

:(

p.s. Im not saying you shouldn't get it!

EDIT: My second shot is in May but I said april by accident!

i've somewhat experienced that with the first 2 injections. i received #3 on monday and it was actually less painful than #1 and #2. I also recieved my depo shot in the opposite arm the same day. i've found that for me, Gardasil hurts more during the shot than after and Depo is painless going in but my arm aches for a couple days after.

I think that the aching in the shoulder/arm and injection site is normal for any kind of shot. I've had shots before (tetanus, hep b) that left me with a hurtful arm/site for a few days :) And, on the other hand, I've had shots that didn't even bother me... not all of the hep B shots affected me the same way. But anyway, I've been thinking about getting Gardisil!

I have a booklet about Gardasil, but it says nothing about it hurting a couple of weeks later. It just says that the most common side effects are pain, swelling, itching, and redness at the injection site. The PA that we know said the first two shots are the worst (pain wise) but the third was not. Hang in there. I would just ask the nurse/doctor when you go in for the 2nd shot if it is normal. It could just be a fluke??

You should check with you dr and insurance company. The immunization schedule for Gardasil is given in three injections over six months, namely at enrollment, and two and six months later. My insurance would not cover it and my dr would not administer unless it was a full 2 months after the first injection.

I just got the 1st injection on Monday. The nurse that gave it to me told me it had to be in the hip, so that's where I got it. It burned pretty fierce when the medicine was going in, but it never got sore, red, or achey. Maybe it has something to do with the location (hip, arm, etc.).

my first shot wasn't too bad; it burned when she injected it and it bled a teeny tiny bit later in the day. my second didn't burn as much but it was sore for longer, like 4-5 days. definitely nothing unbearable, and that's coming from a huge baby. :P

I had to get allergy shots once a week for 7 years. For 3 of those years, they would give me one in each arm. Sometimes they would go a little higher, sometimes lower but it was usually about 3 inches from my shoulder. They usually ached afterwards and they also swelled up. Sometimes the actual shot hurt so bad and sometimes I didn't even feel it. I think it just depends on the day, honestly. I don't think that it's abnormal that it's hurting you at all. I realize my shots weren't Gardisil but either way, I don't think that you have anything to worry about.

Shots always hurt me for a few days afterwards, the best thing I've found is to excercise the arm as soon as possible (like, pushups or something) and keep on doing it whenever it starts to hurt again.

It seems totally wrong, but its the only thing that works for me.

Both of the injections I have gotten so far have hurt for about three days, but the doctor told me to expect it...I think it is not all that unheard of for the injection site to be sore for a while. :)
