I have a bit of a strange question, and I wasn't sure where to go for it. I have searched a bit, and found nothing related to my question, so I was going to see if you fine ladies could help me out.
Background: I have two sons, 22 months, and 6 months old. I am currently breastfeeding the 6 month old, which I have been told will delay ovulation. I also had my tubes tied when I had my second c-section, so technically there is *no way* I can be pregnant. I have had two 'mini-periods' the last two months, which I found odd.
On to my problem. When I was pregnant with my first son, I did not know about it until 3 month in because I was having what seemed like normal periods, and no pregnancy symptoms. With my second son I was on HBC pills, and still got pregnant. The only way I really knew something was wrong with me was that after sex, when my husband finished inside me, I would get very nauseous. It would usually be a few minutes after sex when I was headed to the bathroom and I would have to fight the urge to throw up. I never did actually throw up but it certainly felt like I was going to. This happened during both pregnancies, and then never happened when I wasn't pregnant.
It's starting to happen to me again now, and I'm kind of freaked out by it considering it was about the only sign of pregnancy for me before. We have only had sex maybe 10 times since my second son was born, but lately we've been at it a little more, and every time I feel the same nausea hit me a few minutes after. I'm slightly nervous that I could be pregnant, even though it is a long shot. At the doctors visit where we discussed tying my tubes, my Dr. pointed out that he had a lady in the room next to me that was pregnant again after having her tubes tied 4 years before, eep.
I will go buy a home pregnancy test next week just to be safe, but I am wondering if this is something other women have experienced or I'm totally alone in this. I'm not sure if I should be worried and ask my doctor about it or if it's fairly common.
Sorry if I haven't explained this very well, and that it is so off the wall.
Thanks for any comments you can give!

If it does turn out that you are pregnant (or even if you just want some peace of mind), you might want to get a second opinion and have another doctor check if your tubes are fully blocked, or possibly have another doctor re-perform the procedure, if necessary.

Date: 2006-11-18 05:50 pm (UTC)I wouldn't say he's a 'bad' doctor, (not that you said that) but it was strange that during my first visit with him during my second pregnancy there was a woman next door pregnant again after a tubal. He said it has only happened two or three times in the almost 30 years of being an OB/GYN.
If I remember correctly, he told me he was actually tying the tubes (if that is how it's done), and also burned the ends. I'm kind of a dummy when it comes to medical stuff, but that's how I remember it being explained. I was also very awake and could hear the burning, so I know he's not just yaking my chain, haha.
I will get a HPT just to be sure.
Thanks for you reply!

Date: 2006-11-18 06:01 pm (UTC)In a tubal ligation, your fallopian tubes are cut, burned, or blocked with rings, bands or clips. Tubal ligations are 99.5% effective as birth control.
Although pregnancy is unlikely, there is a slightly higher risk of ectopic pregnancy after a tubal ligation.
As far as the feeling nauseated after sex.. that's never happened to me so I really can't tell you if it's normal or not.
If you are worried.. take the home pregnancy test. If it still doesn't ease your mind.. make an appointment with your dr.
