I have a bit of a strange question, and I wasn't sure where to go for it. I have searched a bit, and found nothing related to my question, so I was going to see if you fine ladies could help me out.

Background: I have two sons, 22 months, and 6 months old. I am currently breastfeeding the 6 month old, which I have been told will delay ovulation. I also had my tubes tied when I had my second c-section, so technically there is *no way* I can be pregnant. I have had two 'mini-periods' the last two months, which I found odd.

On to my problem. When I was pregnant with my first son, I did not know about it until 3 month in because I was having what seemed like normal periods, and no pregnancy symptoms. With my second son I was on HBC pills, and still got pregnant. The only way I really knew something was wrong with me was that after sex, when my husband finished inside me, I would get very nauseous. It would usually be a few minutes after sex when I was headed to the bathroom and I would have to fight the urge to throw up. I never did actually throw up but it certainly felt like I was going to. This happened during both pregnancies, and then never happened when I wasn't pregnant.

It's starting to happen to me again now, and I'm kind of freaked out by it considering it was about the only sign of pregnancy for me before. We have only had sex maybe 10 times since my second son was born, but lately we've been at it a little more, and every time I feel the same nausea hit me a few minutes after. I'm slightly nervous that I could be pregnant, even though it is a long shot. At the doctors visit where we discussed tying my tubes, my Dr. pointed out that he had a lady in the room next to me that was pregnant again after having her tubes tied 4 years before, eep.

I will go buy a home pregnancy test next week just to be safe, but I am wondering if this is something other women have experienced or I'm totally alone in this. I'm not sure if I should be worried and ask my doctor about it or if it's fairly common.

Sorry if I haven't explained this very well, and that it is so off the wall.
Thanks for any comments you can give!

Well, I've never been pregnant or had any children, but I have the world's weakest stomach so I sometimes get nauseous after sex. I think for me it's just all the jostling around that agitates my stomach, it's nothing pregnancy-related, and I've never actually vomited from it. Has this nausea ever progressed to actual vomiting, or does it subside on its own? If you're worried, taking a home pregnancy test would be a good idea, even though it's highly unlikely that you're pregnant.

However, the fact that your doctor already has one woman who is pregnant after a tubal ligation (I'm assuming he performed her surgery), and if you're worried about being pregnant, it's leading me to believe that this doctor may not be doing the most wonderful job in performing his tubals (I know it happens, but it shouldn't be particularly prevalent, especially by the same doctor). If it does turn out that you are pregnant (or even if you just want some peace of mind), you might want to get a second opinion and have another doctor check if your tubes are fully blocked, or possibly have another doctor re-perform the procedure, if necessary.

I had a tubal 11 years ago (after 4 live births.. all c/sections)

In a tubal ligation, your fallopian tubes are cut, burned, or blocked with rings, bands or clips. Tubal ligations are 99.5% effective as birth control.

Although pregnancy is unlikely, there is a slightly higher risk of ectopic pregnancy after a tubal ligation.

As far as the feeling nauseated after sex.. that's never happened to me so I really can't tell you if it's normal or not.
If you are worried.. take the home pregnancy test. If it still doesn't ease your mind.. make an appointment with your dr.

Oh, I'm not saying that he possibly faked the tubal ligation (then I would tell you to sue on the grounds of medical malpractice) but that maybe he doesn't do the best job. If done correctly, tubals are 99.5% effective, but if one little part of the tube possibly isn't cauterized fully, an egg can still get through and pregnancy is possible. Perhaps if he is doing the procedure out of habit rather than putting thought and effort into them, the tubal may not have been thorough, and if it was me and it turned out that I was pregnant, I would get a second opinion.

Can I just say that I personally know a woman who had a tubal after her second son...and then she became pregnant with her third! How? The doc cut & cauterized a uterine ligament on one side, he obviously thought it was the fallopian tube. Now how's that for a mistake?

I HOPE she got a second opinion and tried to take some legal action. That doctor doesn't need to be a doctor.

She would never take legal action on that doctor, she holds him in high regard. She's a nurse and would never do that, she realizes that unfortunately mistakes do happen, and she has a beautiful (yet still unplanned)boy to show for it :) i'd hate to think that that happens frequently, or even at all...but i'm just saying...it's possible.
