clitoral hood piercing

Hey quick question --

I'm getting my hood pierced (probably a horizontal piercing, but if not, then a vertical), and I was wondering if anyone else has done this and how much it would generally cost. So far, it looks to be about $60 but I haven't checked anywhere yet.

Also wondering if there is any pain during sex if you do it too soon after or, really, at any time. I know everyone says it makes sex feel better and that you can start having sex again right away, but all that pressure on a new wound just doesn't sound like a good idea. Thanks :)

I got my VHP (vertical Hood Piercing) about a year ago and I LOVE IT!

I paid about 50 or 60 i think.

I didn't experiance any pain during sex, really. I know that there are positions I can have sex in where there is no clitoral contact, and I dont think those were a problem. My boyfriend got a Prince Albert the same time I got mine done, so we were off sex for awhile. The biggest deal is keeping fluids away from it, so as to vaoid infection, and I think i would have been ok with contact within a week or so. I had very little to no pain during or after the piercing.

THe skin is so thin, only a couple milimeters, that you can see the receving tube on the other side just before they pierce it...so not much skin at all!!

If you have any questions I'd love to answer them, getting pierced was such a positive experiance for me.

Does it do what it says it will? I kind of want it for its functional purposes, but I think the horizontal is prettier. I don't want the piercing to not be functional, though, so hm, touch decision, since it seems to be kind of a toss up with the horizontal.

I would say so. I have not had the "cuming while walking up stairs" phemonmenon, but especially when i'm mastrubating, i can use it to add sensation, and with a vibe the vibrating metal is wild. I also throught the horizontal was prettier but now wouldn't have mine any other way!!

i have a VCH, so ymmv.

mine was about 70.

i had sex about a week after, because that was to soonest i saw my bf after. we were pretty careful about it, but it was not painful. i was also riding horses in a week.

it was several more weeks before i was really back to normal in either respect, but i certainly was not in pain after a week. i had no issues healing, either.

BME is the best source for piercing info. You really shouldn't be having sex until about a month after the piercing/when it's completely healed. And receiving unprotected oral sex is BAD until it's healed.

I tried looking at bmezine.com for pictures and info. The pictures run out so fast when you don't have a membership, though. I looked at other peoples' stories, and although I know that I read that oral sex is a no-no until it's healed, someone's piercer told them they could have sex immediately, so I was just wondering.

I suppose you'd live if you had sex right away, alot of people do, but please please please PLEASE make sure your partner is STD free. Having an open wound in that area makes transmission much more likely. Also, since it's only 4 weeks or so til it's healed, it's (in my opinion) much easier to just abstain and not risk any complications/worries because of having sex.

And yeah, the pics are pretty skimpy without a membership, but everything else is FREE! And their encyclopedia is a great help.

Yeah, my partner is STD free and I would be worried about that sort of thing. I think I would at least wait a week.

i have a vertical hood piercing. it cost me about $100, but i live in canada so it might be more here.
mine was a bit uncomfortable for awhile after...especially right under the hood. it didn't feel very nice and i thought dear god i hope it doesn't always feel like this.
now it's totally fine. i wouldn't really say it's added to pleasure or anything. just if you move it around a little. i just wanted it done because i like how it looks.

definitely do not have sex right away after getting a genital piercing. some people may heal faster than others, but it's a good idea to give it a few weeks minimum.

both good comms. you should wait three to four weeks after getting a hood piercing to have sex, mostly because with an open wound there is a risk that pathogens will get into your bloodstream (STDs, blood infections, etc). get the piercing done at 12ga, with a curved barbell if you decide on a VCH (a ring is suitable for an HCH, but not a VCH). make sure you go to someone who knows what s/he is doing. there will likely be an increase in sensation immediately after getting the piercing and during the healing period, but it should go back to normal once the piercing is comfortably healed (this decrease in sensitivity may feel like desensitization after you've become accustomed to heightened sensitivity, but it's not).
rinse the piercing with warm water for a few minutes in the shower every day. keep soaps and any other chemicals away from it (and the vulva). it should heal really fast and easily.
