This happened awhile ago, but I was always curious. A year ago, I woke up in the middle of the night and one of my labia lips was sore, like sore enough for me to get out of bed and go check. I lifted back the lip and saw a relatively small black dot (about the same size or slightly smaller than a pea) that was slightly raised. I touched it and it was sore to the touch. I honestly though it was a bug bite of some kind. Anyways, I squeezed it a little and a huge amount of pus came out. For how small this black dot was, I couldn't believe how much came out. I squeezed it a few more times and some more pus/blood came out and then it was fine. I never had a recurrence. It was around the area where the Bartholin gland would be, but it was so much smaller than what I've heard would happen with a cyst. If it helps, I was 17 years old, and on birth control for two years to help with PCOS and I was not sexually active.

Hello dahlink VPers!

I thought I'd read in here before that some of you had suggested using coconut oil as a lube, and that it was a mild anit-yeast?

I looked through the memories a little bit, but the opportunity just presented itself to hitch a ride to Madison where they'll actually have a store that will sell the stuff (I hate living in a podunk town) and now I have to get ready and don't really have time to search the memories AND shower and stuff.

So I was wondering - was I remembering right with the coconut oil or was that something else? I'm married and monagomous and we don't use condoms so that's not an issue. I'd like to try this - if this is the right thing I'm thinking of and it doesn't work as a lube (and also I'm going to divide it in half and use it like this anyway) I can always use it on my hair.

YAY!

Cramping

So, a couple days ago I forgot to take my pill (don't worry, I am using back-up). The day after I was supposed to take my pill, I remembered and took the missed dose. On the same day, I took my scheduled dose at the scheduled time. (In my pamphlet attached to the BC, it says this is fine to do).

Now, for a few days, I have been experiencing random, but very painful, cramps. I was on my week 1 when I took the 2 pills in the same day. I am now into week 2. During my period week, I did not have sex nor have I had sex after missing the pill (I've been stressed so I haven't really been in the mood anyway). I had my period as normal (though it was lighter).

Is this a common side-effect for missing one day and taking 2 the next day?

The past couple of days I noticed a hard mass on the outside of the opening of my vagina. It's not painful and there's no head and it's not red. If I try to squeeze it, nothing comes out but I noticed the upper part of the labia is a little red but I think it's cuz the "cyst" is right next to it.

I did some research and it says it could be a bartholin's gland cyst or an ingrown, but I've had many ingrown hairs and it doesn't look like it.

So should I worry and make an appointment with the gyno or will it eventually go away on its own?

Thanks!

This may be a stupid question butttt

I am on Tri Lo Sprintec. I have been for a few months. (I was also on BC for 4 years in high school...I'm 22 now) I just finished bleeding and am on the 4th pill of my new pack. The last 2 days I have very thick clear discharge. I've never gotten this while on BC but did get it when I was ovulating (obviously when I wasnt on BC). However, I usually cramp up like a mofo when I ovulate and haven't felt that. I had PIV sex last night and my SO ejaculated inside me. Should I be worried? Do I wanna go get a morning after pill? Should I just wait it out and see what happens?

I know I probably don't want a morning after pill. I'm not usually the paranoid type. I guess I just need someone to tell me their discharge got thicker on BC and it meant nothing.

not a uti?

recently i've had a very strong urge to pee constantly (it's been going on and off for almost a month now) but after getting tested to see if it was a uti or a kidney infection of any sort, it turned out that i don't have either. i've been drinking a lot of cranberry juice and taking cranberry pills hoping it will stop, but it really hasn't.
i don't have any other symptoms except the strong urge to pee all the time (as in literally all the time) and then when i go, nothing or very little actually coming out.

i'm not really sure what to do at this point but it's starting to become severely annoying having to go all the time. does anyone know what this could possibly be or what i should do? thanks in advance! :)

For the past couple weeks my urine has been having this very strong and off odor to it. Although this will sound weird, I swear, it smells like chicken broth. I thought it might be a hydration thing and made sure to up my fluid intake and figured it'd go away on it's own. It didn't. Though, some days were better than others. A few things I read online seemed to indicate it might be a bladder infection. Now, I'd been experiencing no other symptoms that I usually get with a UTIs: no super frequent urge to pee without actually having to pee or poor bladder control and weak stream. But I don't like to mess around with bladder infections so I made an appt at my local PP. They sampled my urine and said I did indeed have a very small infection and sent me home with a standard twice-a-day for seven days antibiotic treatment.

All other times in the past I've been prescribed Nitrofurantoin/Macrobid but PP gave me Sulfamethox-tmp. I love the ladies at my local PP and don't doubt their expertise and google tells me this is a commonly prescribed drug for UTIS. But since the moment I started taking them (I'm only 3 pills in out of the 14) it's like BAM, all the sudden I have UTI symptoms. The gotta pee urge, an almost constant slight tingly burn in my urethra, and the weakened ability to hold it in when I get those GOTTAGONOW urges.

I've never experienced anything like this with Nitrofurantoin. While this stuff, I swear, is making me feel worse than I was to begin with. I don't understand why I would go this long without these symptoms and then they would so suddenly pop up once I started treating the infection. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I'll still keep taking the rest of the treatment, since I know stopping part way through is not good. But I'm just wanting some reassurance about this odd experience.

So, I stopped using hormonal BC in February, and since then my cycle has been adjusting to the lack of chemicals I guess. Although my cycle has been long-ish (45 days), my period has alays been 3-4 days, not too heavy, and I haven't really had any pain or PMS.

This cycle, though has been very different. I started bleeding on day 25 (instead of my normal 45), and now it's the 11th day and I'm still bleeding! I've also been cramping and having sore uterus muscles, where normally I wouldn'thave any pain.

Is this just my body adjusting to the lack of Pill? a weird, but not worrying freak period? or could it be something else? (I was thinking a miscarriage, although it's not very heavy bleeding, and there's little chance of an unknown pregnancy).

Help, please!

Back in May, my GYN put me on Nuva Ring for what she thinks is endometriosis. She told me, because I wasn't using the ring as birth control, I could skip the period free weeks regardless of what the website said. So I had gone from May until a week ago (November 14th) without a period. Last Saturday, two days after I put a new ring in, I randomly got my period. I took the ring out, thinking something was terribly wrong and decided to just bear with the pain and get my period.

I usually only bleed for about four days, but this time it's been a week and doesn't seem to be letting up. AND - last night out of nowhere I started experiencing overwhelmingly bad cramps. I couldn't move, my legs were shaking and I eventually threw up the pain was so terrible. I took three ibuprofin and once the pain subsided, I fell asleep by 12.

Around 2AM, I woke up and felt something absolutely disgusting and slimy coming out of my vagina. I ran to the bathroom, and found this huge nasty unidentifyed object on my pad. No longer in pain, I took a picture of it in case I had to go to the doctor and went back to sleep.

What could this be? The picture is absolutely gross so anyone squeemish is SERIOUSLY advised not to look at it. I'm a fan of medical shows and it grossed me out. * There is absolutely no possibility of pregnancy. *

Expandnsfw - graphic, bloody picture )

What could it be? I am completely baffled and disgusted.

just a thought...
the phrase "protected sex" really bothers me because i think it's a misleading term.

most of the time, "protected" really connotates "sex with a condom" (or dental dam, but i'm speaking from a perspective of someone who has had sex only with men, so bear with me on this). at least in my experience.

it implies that sex minus a condom is sex with a risk of STDs (which is true in some cases but not in all). sex without a barrier method, no matter the situation, is defined as "unsafe". so no matter what you may use besides a barrier method and how committed of a relationship you may be in, you're having "unprotected" sex and not being "safe".

by extension, barrier methods are seen as the only "safe" way (pregnancy-proof), which kinda annoys me, because you can have sex without a barrier method and not get pregnant. there's about 242556554 other methods of not getting pregnant besides a condom. some of which work much better than condoms!
I apologize for the misleading statistic in this paragraph. I was not trying to provide incorrect information, it was merely a typo. I have removed it since others have more detailed explanations in the comments. Thanks.

ugh. i don't know. it just seems like a really prejudiced and limiting term to me. and i'm getting really sick of being tutted at for having "unprotected" sex by various doctors (all of whom have KNOWN i was on birth control). yes, i didn't use a freaking condom. that doesn't mean i'm unintelligent, being "unsafe", or wantonly risking STDs or pregnancy. yes, i know what they are. yes, i know how to use one. yes, i know the benefits of condoms (and the risks and drawbacks). yes, i can stand up to my boyfriend and tell him to use one, please do not advise me on how to do so.

although some of that attitude, i think, is based on the fact that i'm 18, and therefore, of course, couldn't
- have a committed relationships. cause, ya know, us teenagers just go from relationship to relationship and cheat on each other all the time, and know nothing about fidelity or serious relationships. i'm just sleeping with the entire football team.
- in which both of us are STD free. cause of course we'd be too immature to think about stuff like that, and stay safe and get tested. and all teenage boys are cheating on their girlfriends because they have that masculine high sex drive *gags*, so i should be making him use a condom cause he'll give me something!
- and have no risk of pregnancy*. because, you know, teenagers are all just having sex and half-assedly using the pull-out method, and half of the girls want to get preggers anyway, to keep the guy.

obviously i agree with none of the stereotypes i quoted above. i meant them in sarcasm.

i'm so sick of assumptions based on my age. if i was twenty-five, would doctors act in the same way towards my "unprotected" sex? possibly. probably not.

thoughts? apologies for turning this into a rant. it was at first just a thought about condoms and "protected sex" and i started thinking about instances in the past that emphasis has been put on condoms in my life.

* i will admit there are times in the past i have had a risk, or at least thought i had one, and did not use a condom - and hormonal birth control is not 100% foolproof. so i guess it's more of "an extremely low risk".
