I am a 25 year old female wanting to get sterilized for my 26th birthday. I am afraid of side effects. I know for a fact I never want a child so regret about not being able to have kids is not something I worry about, it's more negative hormonal side effects or complications that worry me. So if you have personal experiences with it please let me know what you have experienced...either good or bad or in between.

I just heard about this new book called Natural Liberty, on self-induced abortion.  I know... self-induced.  Sounds crazy, but the book is like 450 pages long, and talks about yoga as a fertility regulation method!  I can't seem to find anything about it online, and I was wondering if anyone here has it, and what they think of it.

Here is the link to Google books, if you are interested:

So  i noticed this a week ago there is a weird bump on my left boob. It hurts really bad and at first i thought it was some random pimple because i was close to my period and you know how they always show in in random places.
But then it started to swell and hurt really badly and hasn't changed from that
Its not popable like a pimple either and im not sure if i should just leave it and see if it goes away or be worred
thanks!

Sorry. This is off topic but I know know where else to post this. If you could point me in the dirrection of another community that would be great. If not feel free to delete this.
My husband has always been a gamer. But over the past few months it has completely consumed his life to the point where he isn't in a relationship with me any more. I want to get him away from the computer so I can actually talk to him. But this has proved to be the most imposible and depressing task. I have tried asking him. I have tried seducing him, I've told him that I need him in the real world. All to no avail. He won't even make eye contact with me. I don't feel like he loves me any longer. I don't feel wanted. He gets defensive, angry and ignores me- even when I am trying to make small talk. As if my whole existance is interupting him from his gaming. I don't know what to do any longer.

I don't know for sure if this is appropriate for this community, if not: feel free to delete this post!
I'm just really curious and interested in your opinions..

How to go about it ^__^ )

I'm having problems with my period right now.
I am sexually active, but always careful and have always used protection (No condoms have broken)
I have hyperthyroidism that has kept me having periods every three weeks, which is of course a  lot shorter than the average person. I have also read on websites that bulimia can help contribute to missed/skipped periods, I have suffered from that too.

Here is my problem:
Ever since I found out that I had hyperthyroidism, my periods have regulated to every three weeks. I am about to start my FOURTH week and still no period. I'm a little bit more than scared because I have been sexually active. Although no condoms have broken/leaked I'm still worried because every website I have gone to seems to always say "You had sex, your pregnant" and that's it.

I don't think that it's stress because I have been under so much more stress in the past and have never had this problem. I have also been bulimic for almost two years and have never had this problem either. My breasts do not hurt, I have not had a morning sickness problem, and I have shown no signs of pregnancy. Any ideas? Oh, and my Mother has just been telling me that I'm regulating from the three weeks to four weeks, but I don't see how or why my period would "All of a sudden" decide to regulate, when I've been having my period every three weeks since I was 15 years old.

is this a normal side effect of the pill? I was previously on the mini pill and was switched to combined. I think I only had 2 real periods on the mini pill, the last of which was the first week of september. I spotted randomly throughout the time I was on it. I never used a backup method when I switched b/c PP told me that I didn't need to and it said the same thing in a gynecological handbook. I keep getting paranoid about being pregnant but I took a test 2 days ago and it was a big fat negative. I know sore breasts are a side effect but could the cramps be b/c my body wanted to have a period and then I started the combined pill? I'm due for my period sometime this week so I'm not really worried, just curious.

Heres
a link to the handbook where I found instructions for switching pills.

Hello -

This is my first time on bc. I was prescribed Alesse (or generic) because it is low-dose. Anyway, I guess they've stopped making Alesse, so I ended up with Aviane. I've only been on it for two days, but already feel like it's affecting my mood in a negative way. A quick google search (for "aviane") told me that lots and lots of people experience side effects of anger with this pill.

I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow, but I'm really rethinking my choice in bc. I don't take any medication, so my body's not used to anything like this. I'm wondering if an IUD might be the way to go? Or maybe I just need a different pill?

What do you ladies think? Can you recommend a pill with low side effects?

Thanks so much..

(eta: Thanks so much for all your advice! I'm going to stick it out for a couple of months and see how it goes. This mood stuff might be due to stress or something external, or just the giant influx of hormones, or both..)

I'm just looking for other girls that are on the pill to tell me how long after they begin their placebo pill week their period shows up. Sure, I've read on here that some girls don't get their period until several days after and stuff like that, but I can't help but be curious. Also, how often do you skip a period (not intentionally) while you're on the pill?

I can't help but be worried here...I took my first placebo pill Friday morning and it's Sunday night and nothing has showed up yet. I've only been on the pill since July, and it seems like my period has come one day later for every month. For instance, August it showed up on time, September it showed on the 2nd day, and here we are in October (on the 3rd day) and I'm still un-bleeding. I'm trying not to stress here, but I know lots of you know the feeling. My boyfriend and I have begun not using a condom, however he still does not ejaculate inside of me. I know it's very effective -- I read 99.97%, but this worrying always gets to me and I'm almost ready to go back to condoms for that extra bit of reassurance.

So if you could, leave a comment telling me what day of the week you start your placebo pills and which day your period typically shows up. How often does it not show up on the expected day, but later? Or earlier? And how often does it miss and not show up at all? Sorry this is such a loaded question(s)!

So recently I've noticed that when I'm having sex, I don't get as wet as I used to, and it's harder for my boyfriend to enter me. I never had this problem before I went on birth control, could that be what's causing it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Recently, in the last year or two, I've had a pretty long cycle. About 40 days, actually. My doctor isn't concerned so neither am I. Anyway, I started back on the NuvaRing this month and I forgot to ask him about this.

I know from reading here that you can leave a ring in up to 4 weeks in order to stack. Is there any reason that you can think of that I shouldn't be able to have 4 weeks on/1 week off to more closely mimic my natural cycle length? (And, for the record, my primary reason for being on the ring is contraception. Effectiveness is above comfort/preference in this case.)

I'm open to personal opinion as well as facts backed by studies/etc., so feel free to post either (but I ask for the sake of others that you make sure it's clear which you are posting)!

Heh. I feel a little weird putting this out in a public forum.

So, I don't often do stuff like this, but this little...er, rant...was begging to be aired, and I figured VP would probably be the safest space in which I could do so. (I don't believe I'm violating any hard-and-fast rules, but if I'm wrong, please speak up and I'll alter or delete this.)

This is a bit of an extension of a post I made in my personal LJ a few days ago. I've been having a real problem with people on one specific issue, and I have to say it was therapeutic for me to get this out.

I'm not really asking for anything, I don't think, but any comments or thoughts on the topic are, of course, welcome.

I tried to polish this up, but it might still come out kinda disjointed; sorry about that. )

I have a female friend who is diabetic (type 2). She has mostly been able to keep it under control, but she recently lost her job and benefits. She confided in me today that as a result, she's having horrible yeast infections/itching that just won't go away. OTC creams are not working at all. At times the itching is so bad, she actually bleeds. And it's not just her vag, it's her anal area too!

I'm just a bit concerned that it's even a yeast infection at all. Has anyone ever experienced or heard of this? If you think this is what she has, what do you think she can do until she gets insurance and meds again? I can't imagine living like that--I feel so bad for her!

Also, she's a virgin, so this is not STD related.

Thanks!

To start off with I'm sexually active and using HBC.

I've always had a normal period. 4-5 days and pretty regular. Now it's going really stupid on me. The last 2 months been like 2 days tops and it's been clotted brown stuff but I was also really stressed out. Now my last one was less than 24 hours and just really really light and it ended Thur. morning. Today I started my new pack of HBC and I went to the bathroom and noticed quite a bit of really light pink discharge coming out. For the past 2 weeks I've also had a really bad problem with being nauseous and even the smell of food makes me really sick. I never get headaches and I've been getting them really frequently not to mention I'm dead tired all the time. I'm also getting lower back cramps. The last time I had sex was a week ago and it's been suggested that it's possible I'm pregnant so I took a test a few days ago and it was negative but it was a cheap one so I'm not sure if that makes a difference and it could have been too early to tell. My mom thinks it might be my BC randomly doing this to me. Does anyone have any ideas on what this could mean or am I stressing about nothing?

I apologize as I know this must have been asked a million times but I googled, searched on VP and vulvapedia but couldn't find a really satisfactory answer. I was wondering how to change the day I start a new pack of pills. I'm a first day starter and I started taking my pill on a Wednesday but want to switch to Sunday. I'm 2 pills away from starting my placebos so do I just shorten the placebo week and start a new pack on Sunday instead of next Wednesday? That's pretty much what I could gather from what I found. Are there any side affects to moving days? My pregnancy protection wouldn't be compromised, correct?

Thanks!!

Forgot to mention: I'm on a monophasic 21/7 (last pack of Apri, switching to Ortho-Cept on this next pack), in case that makes a difference.

I just recently got laser hair removal in my bikini area, although I kept a triangle of hair just so I'd have some "styling" options. :P But now that I have almost no hair down there, it's so much more noticeable when that triangle gets a little unruly. Right now I'm just using scissors to keep things short, but I was thinking that getting an electric shaver/beard trimmer might be so much easier.

Does anyone here use a beard trimmer on her nethers? Any recommendations for ones that work well/don't work well?
