So I just switched to a low dose BC (20mg of microgestrin) because my old pill was causing me problems. Now everything is fine except for the fact that I am now ravenously hungry all the time! I've been on 2 other pills but they never had this side affect on me. I even lost weight on the last pill I was on. I've read that the pill alone can't make you gain weight, but it may make you hungry thus causing you to eat more. Right now I've been dealing with it by telling myself that I'm not really hungry and it's just the pill, and trying to keep my food intake normal. I'm hoping that will be enough.

What do I do? Will this side affect go away once my body adjusts? At the very lease it is a real annyoance being hungry all the time. At the most, I don't want to blow up like a balloon! Thanks!

I'm new here and wow! Is this amazing or what?!
I'm sure thats what all the n00bz say but seriously, this is awesome. I'm going to let it change my life.

Anywho.
Orgasms and masturbation. Wonderful little (or big?) things.
Personally, I'm not 100% sure where I stand with both.

I'm still not 100% sure I have them although, recently more and more I've been thinking I do. Ever since I was little I have done this thing where I lay on a body pillow holding something hard underneath it (usually a flashlight) and rub up against the pillow vigourously. It feels good, like a massage and I think it tickles my clit. The feeling is like, little short bursts of pleasure that build a bit, but very fast to a spasm of just the clit area that only lasts a few pulses while i'm sort of "chasing"(i don't know if thats the right word) the pulses by adding the perfect pressure in the perfect places as long as i can until it stops. It's not earth shaking, nor does it feel like a big release so much as just tiring myself out a bit with my effort and focus. I used to not even think this was masterbation since I'm not touching myself with my hand, but now I know that's silly ;).

Does anyone else do something like this instead of using their fingers or sex toys?

I also have a unique feeling when I'm having sex with my husband. Occasionally, without the need for clitoral stimulation and just from sexual intercourse, my vagina will kinda "puff"(once again, i don't know if this is the right word) what i think is just air out with force and it can sometimes sound like a farting noise (but it's not just an air pocket, it's like i'm physically pushing out from the inside, my husband feels it too). It feels good, but not as good as my pillow and i don't really think its too much of a release. But I'm learning how to hit it harder and make it last a little longer, although the pleasure factor still isn't quite what I imagined an orgasm to be like.

From reading that, does anyone think I'm actually not having an orgasm but rather just being pleased and that i need to keep researching and trying other methods of stimulation to have a "real" one? Anyone else have similar sensations?

p.s.my dream is to squirt some day. that would really take the cake. one can only hope i suppose.

Hi,

I just realized that today is the day I have to get my second shot of Gardasil.
Long story short, I can't do it today, but I can first thing tomorrow. Can it wait until tomorrow or will I mess up the schedule somehow?

Thanks for any help.

Hello all! I will spending the fall semester in Ireland and I wanted to know if EC is available OTC. I tried looking it up online but I couldn't really find anything that said yes or no. Thanks in advance!

Hello VP-ers.  I'm hoping that this post is ok!  in brief, I am looking for resources, but I'm sure you'd like to read the whole entry, it's kind of interesting.

I'm Chelsea and I'm a senior at Vassar College, where I will be next year's president of CHOICE, which stands for Campus Health Organization for Information, Contraception and Education.  Essentially, we hand out FREE safer sex supplies (barrier methods and lubes, not HBC or anything medical like that) to the campus and provide a slew of information and sponsor tons and tons of events about sex and sexuality.

What I would like from y'all are your favorite sex resources -- websites, books, videos, DVDs, articles, supplies, activities (for "study breaks" the dorms have) educators and events (especially low-cost people who we can bring to campus).  I am particularly interested in gender-neutral things as well as information/whatever about virginity.  But they can be about any sexuality topic you'd like.  We're incredibly open-minded and welcoming.

I'm essentially trying to compile a giant list of resources to add on to what we've already got, as we're able to get a few books/DVDs a year, as well as bring in different educators and events throughout.  For our meetings, we try to read an article beforehand and discuss it after the "business" part is over.  I'd also like to release a list of user-friendly, non-judgemental websites and books to campus at some point (I have big plans, haha), so... SPAM ME, PLEASE!!

And also, we have a completely new exec board this year, and we're trying very hard to expand, so I'd like us to have as big of a resource pool as possible, for this year as well as years to come, after I've gone :'[

so I hope this post is ok -- I figured that everyone here is their own wealth of knowledge, and I wanted to tap into that!  so thank you very much!!

oh, and just so you can get a flavor of what we've been offering, here are some of the titles from our recent workshops:
-how to have a gender-free orgasm
-mapping the clitoris
-hands-on clothes-on bondage 101
-basics of BDSM
-the hook-up culture
-pelvic proficiency (about using your pelvis for greater satisfaction during various kinds of sex)

...and that's all I can think of right now!!

thank you so so much!  please, give me what you've got!!

GYN?

Hello fellow VP-ers I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good GYN in Utica, New York. I have already looked in the link but the closest is in Syracuse, and I really don't want to have to travel that far. I would really appreciate any recommendations, since I really can't stand my current GYN.

OK, so I missed my period completely this month, took a home pregnancy test this morning (it's the 7th day after I should have had my period) and it was negative. So, I have been looking up other causes for possible missed periods and I found somewhere out in the questionable world of the internet that going off birth control can cause missed periods.

At the beginning of the month I switched off of my usual Ortho TriCyclin Low as its no longer covered under my insurance to something called Aviane. Does anyone know if this switch could have the same effect as going off birth control all together? Has anyone else experienced missed periods on this pill?

I'm not over or underweight, havn't been sick, although I am pretty stressed these days... are there any other common reasons for a missed period?

Thank you all in advance for you responses

What?

Alright, it's getting to be about time for my period,  I don't remember exactly when it's supposed to come around, because last month when I had it, I was out of state and forgot to write down anywhere when I got it and when it ended like I always do.  Plus, I'm quite sure that if I hadn't had sex, that it never would have come.  It was incredibly light, maybe a day and a half of barely more than spotting.  I never had any symptoms of it coming on before I'd had sex.

Anyway, today I am having all the symptoms of being on my first day of bleeding.  Except that the cramps aren't as horrible as they usually are (about a year after I stopped birth control my cramps have gotten completely out of control, to the point where I can't even stand).  It's just kind of ebbing.  I have no blood.  However, every now and then when I go to urinate, a thinnish discharge will come out with the tiniest bit of a pink tinge to it.

What's going on?  I really have no money nor time to go to the doctor or even Planned Parenthood.  I'm moving from Texas to Nebraska in a week's time.  I have no idea what's going on as I've never experience this before.  One day I hope to again be on birth control.....

Edit: I'm pretty sure that it's just been the stress, a few hours after I posted this, I started real bleeding, and then HORRIBLE cramps set in.  Though, it's been a very, very watery period, nonetheless.

Forgive my ignorance once again....but I was just about to take plan b and I noticed on the box it says, "For age 17 and under."

I'm almost 20 years old. I gave the woman my license, she had to have seen it...Did she make a booboo? Or does it not matter?

hello ladies,

I've been taking the pills for years now but I am thinking about converting over to the implant. While I've never had any problems- in terms of side-effects or effectiveness- with the pill, I move around alot and it gets difficult to get refills. The implant seems like it'd be more convienient since it's effective for up to three years.

Does anyone have any experiences from switching over from the pill to the implant? any comments or suggestions are welcome.

thanks!

I'm eighteen and August 7th will be my first gynecologist appointment. I am still a virgin but I figured that it's still better to have routine exams. However, my vagina does not like things going inside of it (i.e. tampons, fingers, penises, speculums, etc), so I'm a little bit concerned it will be painful. I've been considering getting a hymenectomy but I'd need my GYN's approval first, which would undoubtedly require an exam. I'm sure that for most people this doesn't seem like much of a problem at all, but for me it's a big concern; I'm very worried about the pain as my vagina really doesn't like to be poked or prodded. Does anyone have tips on how I can just relax and try not to think about the pain?

So I my have accidentally gotten some grossness in my vagina after anal sex yesterday. Now my period in my cup smells a bit off. Should I wait? What can I do to prevent going to the doctors for an antibiotic? I don't have abnormal discharge (I am on my period) and I don't itch.

Thank you.

I am having UTI symptoms - constant need to urinate, low pelvic pain, not feeling like I have emptied my bladder properly after urinating, extremely irritated down below, and perhaps a strong odor of my urine. However, we have self-test urine kits here at home and I decided to check it myself instead of going to the doctors again, and according to the test (which is the same kind used in the doctors for testing), no infection is present.

I was being treated for Cystitis just over a week ago - was on Effercitrate tablets but am finished them now. These UTI like symptoms started coming on yesterday but are alot worse today. Although this is more of an annoying feeling, rather than a painful feeling.

Anyone have any suggestions what this could be? Anyone had any experience with this before?

(P.s I should also mention that I am having a dull ache on and off around my lower back and right side. Also my urine is extremely light in colour - just looks like water with a slight grey tinge in colour. I must admit too that I have drank no water today.)

EDIT: I just done another urine dip test myself because symptoms are getting alot worse and now it has showed up and infection with blood in my urine too so I am going to get a doctors appointment for the morning. Thanks for your comments.
