Hey everyone, I have a question about my NuvaRing + timing.

I'm a Wednesday starter, and I usually take my ring out at the same exact time every month (12:30 on the dot). My period always comes at some point between Sunday night and Monday morning, while I'm sleeping so I never know exactly when. This past week I took my ring out at around 8:00pm, so around 7.5 hours later than I normally would have, in an attempt to make my period come on Monday morning so I wouldn't have to wake up with it. HOWEVER, this morning (Sunday morning) I woke up at around 7 to a surprise. My period had come an entire day early!!

So my question is, does anyone have any insight as to why this might have happened...? I thought that my logic made sense - take it out a couple hours later than usual = period comes a couple hours later than usual.... clearly it didn't, lol.

Thanks :)

I couldn't find this question in the archives, so I hope it hasn't been asked before.

This month I haven't had any signs of PMS, although my period was due the 31st and I should have been PMSing for the week leading up to that.  I know I probably didn't ovulate yet for some reason (I've been a little sick), but I am paranoid and it begs the question: if the egg is fertilized, will you show signs of PMS?

I know PMS is in preparation of your period, so logically the answer is no.  But many early pregnancy signs are the same as PMS signs (breast tenderness, fatigue, so on), so if you get pregnant, shouldn't your body still act the same?  I'm just wondering, because my breasts ALWAYS hurt leading up to my period, and they've been happy and painless the whole month.  Could it be that breast tenderness is, for me, a sign of PMS, but not an early sign of pregnancy?

I hope this makes sense, I'm very bleary-headed today.  :)  Thanks!

I've heard over and over that it's a bad idea to get soap anywhere near your vagina because it will mess up the pH and lead to infections. Is this true? If so, what exactly is it in the soap that causes problems?

I ask because I've tried to follow this advice, but sometimes (especially around my period) cleaning with lots of water and a washcloth doesn't quite seem good enough. I know that the vagina is self-cleaning, so obviously putting anything inside there is a bad idea, but would it be okay to use some soap when cleaning in the general area? I use The Body Shop's Strawberry Shower Gel (link with ingredients) on the rest of my body; would that be all right to use? Thanks!

hello!

so, my periods are very light. they only last about two and a half days. the first day it is really heavy then the next day its very light and the the third day its hardly there at all.

my boyfriend and i decided to have sex on the second day of my period, where there was SOME blood, but it was not very gross.

for some stupid reason i thought it was impossible to get pregnant while on your period, so he came twice inside of me (the first time anyones ever done that to me).

i also took plan b the next day--but i am FREAKING OUT. when should i get a pregnancy test? also, i have an appt for birth control tomorrow.

gahh im freaking. thank you SO MUCH in advance.

okayy i've checked around tags and i've checked on google, and they're both failing me. therefore i come to you with this question.

there are times when i will have discharge that LOOKS white, but when i wipe it on the TP it turns light-ish yellow. is this normal? everywhere i look, people are like "YELLOW IS INFECTIOUS!" well, i'm type one diabetc, STI/D-free, been tested for UTI, BV, and YI and they're all negative. I'm currently on HBC, I'm trying YAZ, but that doesn't seem to be doing any form of wonders for my cramps, so since cramps are evil, I was thinking of trying Yasmin or SOMETHING. I'd go for seasonale, but since I'm currently in a monogamous relationship where the HBC is our ONLY form of contraceptive (taken perfectly - i've never missed a pill, and only been off by around thirty minutes) and I think it'd just freak both of us out. I was also thinking Loestrin 24 Fe, but i'm not totally sure.

Can you gals help =[ I have horrid cramps off HBC, they didn't get better with OTC-lo or Yaz, and I'm almost desperate.

love you VP girlies!

i got my first YI last week after being on antibiotics the week before.
unfortunately i noticed the symptoms mon/tues but couldnt get any treatment until thursday night =/

i used vagistat thursday night and then got my period on saturday morning.

now when i go to the bathroom i have terrible burning =(
it kind of feels like really rough and almost raw.
its better with vagisil but its kind of gross using a cream during my period.

so im wondering if i'm just having a really weird period or is it because i have a YI at the same time?

and should i be doing anything else for it?

Hola!
After getting 2 UTIs in as many months, I decided to try taking cranberry supplement pills. This is my 2nd day taking them, and the bottle says to take 4 × 475mg pills a day, so that's what I've done. However, I have noticed that I get a mother of a headache shortly after taking them, and get slightly dizzy. I don't know if it's just coincidence, or if I'm having a bad reaction to them. Is this a side-effect of cranberry pills? Should I stop taking them if this continues?

Also, (this is just me complaining) I started getting UTI symptoms AGAIN this afternoon. I just finished my antibiotics for mythe last one on Wednesday, so I'm super non-excited and took an extra 2 or 3 cranberry pills and have been downing tons of water. My symptoms have gone away though, but I don't know if they're completely gone or what.

And, on a completely different note, I also picked up some L-Lysine at the drug store and started taking that, too. I've read that it helps with preventing cold sores. I don't get cold sores very often (1-3 times a year), so it might take a while to find out if it works or not, but I was just wondering if any one else has had a good experience with it?!

hey everyone
i have an undies question. i usually buy victoria's secret underwear, size L, low rise bikini. well, a couple years ago-ish, they changed how they make their underwear and they are much more flimsy now. i liked buying at victoria's secret because i knew my size and i like the patterns and they last a long time, but i think i'm going to have to start getting my undies elsewhere. does anyone have any recommendations? also, does anyone happen to know size conversion, like i'm a L in VS, so i'm a "whatever" in "whatever" brand?
thanks so much!

Hey VPers! I've got a situation.

Tonight my boyfriend and I were having sex, rougher than usual, and using a condom. When we finished, he threw out the condom and I went to go pee as I normally do. But I realized that I was more "wet" than usual. Looking in my underwear, I found a whole lot more "wet" and knew it couldn't be just me. Sure enough, I found a very small piece of latex in my underwear as well.

We checked the condom and there was definitely a small rip right beneath the tip. Now, I'm on birth control and have been since mid-October. I'm currently on my placebo week, having taken the 21 active pills consecutively, without missing or being late this entire month. I had breakthrough bleeding last week, so this week I haven't had any bleeding. I start my active pills this Tuesday.

During your placebo week you are fully protected against pregnancy if you've taken all of your active pills correctly, yes? I never take my placebos at a certain time, since they're inactive, but I doubt that matters. I know HBC is often used as the sole protection against pregnancy, but we always use condoms and it's the first time this has happened (that I'm aware of) and I'm rather nervous.

Also, I think I may have a semen allergy. My vagina was incredibly stingy and raw after the whole ordeal. We've been together over a year and both of us were virgins when we began having sex, so STD's aren't really a possibility. And as for being rougher than usual, we've been rougher, so I don't think it was that either, but maybe. Is there anything I can do to soothe my poor lady parts? And is there anything I can do in the future to fix the allergy? That may sound silly, but I really have no idea. I'd like to eventually not use condoms and not have to worry about my vagina getting angry at the semen.

Any comments/advice/tips/personal stories are appreciated! Thanks VP!

So almost two weeks ago, my girly bits started feeling a little irritated. My labia are red and irritated looking and I'm really dry and slightly itchy. I don't think it's a UTI, YI or BV. I don't have any funky discharge or smells, there's no pain when I pee - I'm just dry and itchy. It's all external - internally I feel fine!

I started thinking about it today and realized that this started up when my mom bought me a new laundry detergent. I have a stacked washer and dryer and have to use the HE type detergents. I usually buy the regular HE Tide kind but mom brought me some of the HE Tide that has Febreeze in it and is lavender scented. I've used lavender scented detergents before, my usual softener is lavender scented actually. I've never used my usual lavender scented detergent since I got the stacked washer and dryer though because it's not HE. Is it possible that I'm having an allergic reaction to the laundry detergent? Maybe because it's heavily concentrated or because it has Febreeze in it it's irritating me? All of the panties I've been wearing have been washed with the new detergent - I'm lazy and take the clothes right out of the dryer and they end up on the couch, then I just pick clothes out from that pile and go. Tonight after my shower I went into my bedroom and found a pair of clean panties that hadn't been washed with the new detergent and I'm actually feeling a little better already.

Is there something I can pick up at the drugstore tomorrow that might help with the dryness and the itching?

ETA: I just talked to my mom - she's a Medical Assitant and a Paramedic so I figured if it was something more than irritation she could tell me to go to the doctor. Anyways, she told me that she's itchy too! She's been using the detergent as well and didn't put two and two together. I didn't think to ask her what to do about the dryness and itching though... So I still need suggestions!
