First off, I want to say that I'n not a virgin. I don't think I will be getting an IUD as birth control if indeed I am.

However, my parents (my mom specifically) does not know this and obviously I don't want them to know.

I am 19 years old and I'm a junior in college, but my parents are very strict and they are very religious and conservative. We are not originally resident here in the United States. We used to live in the Philippines, which is a highly conservative and catholic country in Asia.

We have been here in the U.S. for more than 2 years but still my mom brought her crappy ways of thinking.

The thing is , I really want to start using tampons and I actually already have bought a pack today. My mom always thinks that having a hymen is very important to a girl since it is a sign of her virginity (which certainly stupid because I know hymen can be broken with a bunch of activities etc.). However, she always just assume that girls who uses tampons are not virgins anymore. She might suspect that I'm not a virgin anymore because I am using tampons. What should I do? How should I tell my mom that tampons does not take anybody's virginity etc. Help! My mom is a pretty closed minded person and even though I'm armed with data, most of the time she won't listen to me and just brush me off. What should I do?

Since the HPV community is usually pretty dead, I figured I'd ask here too. For anyone who has/had genital warts and successfully treated them, or at the very least is keeping them under SOME kind of control, what the hell worked? I've had laser vaporization surgery, acid treatments, and am still using Aldara. The surgery & acid both work temporarily, but hurt like HELLLLLLLLLLLL & the warts just come back with a vengeance within days/weeks. And the Aldara doesn't seem to do shit, other than itch & burn occasionally, & even then my warts get worse. I'm losing my mind. Since I'm single again (my boyfriend who gave me this shit in the first place broke up with me) I'm really wanting to put all this behind me, now more than ever. I'm willing to try anything at this point... I'm just sick of trying the same things with no results. Thanks!

i've been on hbc (yasmin) for almost three months now... i generally use a back-up method in addition to the pill.

1. up until this week, i've been using a (male) condom as backup. this week, i used spermicide (vcf) for backup protection. i've had a big problem with the vcf films sticking to my finger while trying to insert them. because of this, i've been doubting as to whether i've been inserting them correctly/close enough to my cervix. is there any point in using vcf if it is not inserted perfectly (directly over the cervix)? also, does anyone have any tips on getting the vcf to stop sticking to my fingers?

2. i know that hbc used alone is pretty effective, but that there is quite a discrepancy between the effectiveness of'perfect' and 'typical' use. i've never missed a pill, but i have been a bit late with taking my pill a few times this month -two tuesdays ago, i took my pill 2 hours late. also, i took my pill 5 hours late last tuesday. i've heard that, with the combination pill, a pill is not considered "missed" unless it is more than 12 hours late. i have also taken my pill 50 minutes late closer to the beginning of the pack. i have read that i do not even need to use backup protection if i take the pill within the 12-hour "late window". despite this, will taking a pill(s) a few hours late drastically lower its effectiveness?

3. a handful of times while on the pill (four times total, one time being last thursday), i've had PIV sex without any secondary form of protection. my boyfriend only stayed in me for about a minute each time this happened (as i tended to be pretty nervous), and never came inside me. is doing this (using withdrawal while on hbc) a bad idea if i really do not want to get pregnant (keeping in mind that i have never missed a pill, but occassionally take them a few hours late), or am i just paranoid?

thank you.

Does Break-through Bleeding effect the way BC works?

I'm always paranoid about being pregnant. But this time I have a reason. I was using Yaz. I ran out for one month, but I couldn't take not having sex so I did anyways. He never came inside me or anything, and it was RIGHT after my period. Later, I had a doctor's pregnancy test and it came out negative, so part of us thought we could get away with it. We had unprotected sex two more times. Then we bought condoms. The second time with a condom, it came off halfway through and we didnt notice for like three minutes.
Well, I looked it up, and i was ovulating then. He didn't come but ... i dont know what could have happened. He usually has a very fair amount of pre-ejaculate.
I normally get this white discharge around that time of the month that I think is just ovulation goo. I dont really know.
Well the day after that happened, it stopped.
I haven't had any discharge or anything yet.
We just broke up and stuff. I'm three days late for my period. Is it just stress? Is there a strong chance?

Thank you! You girls are always awesome with help.

Ok so I'm a 22 year old female, never been on birth control and I've been in a monogamous relationship for the past 7 years.

We've been having unprotected sex, we aren't trying to have a baby but not trying to prevent it either. We are well enough off to support a child. I was supposed to have my period on July 11th, I've always been 30 days to the point. I didn't get it until the 31st and it only lasted 2 days with very light bleeding (not even soaking a light tampon) which is quite unusual for me. I took a test on the 28th which came up negative. I haven't been under any stress, so I can't explain what's going on. Could I maybe be pregnant? I'm going to go buy another test tomorrow but I figured that you Fellow-VP's are amazing and would be able to help me out.

I have been using the Keeper for my last several periods and was told that it would be a little uncomfortable at first, but eventually I'd  get used to taking it out/putting it in.  I'm pretty much an inserting pro by now, but still when I go to take it out it ranges from being uncomfortable to downright painful, even though I bear bown/break the suction seal etc.  I've searched this community for any information to help with cup removal, but found none.  I figured if it was hymen related, it would be good and torn/gone by now with pretty constant usage of the cup.  Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm wondering what some possible causes for vaginal sores are, besides herpes. I've tried doing a google search and herpes was pretty much the only thing that came up and it's overwhelming me right now.

More specifically, I'm wondering if it's possible to get sores from wearing too tight clothing and being in a really hot environment.

Thanks so much for any help/advice!

2 sex partners in life. 1 PIV, 1 oral. Both said they were virgins.

Symptoms as of the past few days:
-i have had rough masturbation/sex lately
-sore vagina (around the actual hole)
-redder than usual vagina/area
-small raised sores between my EDIT:
These things I called "sores"... theyre much more resemblent of ... cilia. or taste buds. or ... tentacles. Theyre symetrically located on either side of my vag. theyre tiiiiny tiny and i only noticed them because they feel raw. i see them when i spread my inner labia very wide open and use a magnifying mirror. there was tonnns of white chunky discharge down there when i noticed so i thought they were white sores before i cleaned them off, but theyre the same color as everything else.

does anyone else have these normally? what in the world can this mean??

-mild discomfort while peeing once (soon after said rough sex)
-increased discharge yesterday, completely normal today

What could this be? I'm 18 and my parents would not be happy to know i am sexually active, though i have always used a condom and am on HBC for bad cramps. (Could any of this be related to starting HBC within the past few months?) I cannot just run over to a doctor seeing as how we as a family have one car and it is broken down, plus i am broke.

I am reeeeeally starting to panic... please help.. :(

Hello. Here´s the briefest I can give, then a ton of background. A lot of complicated things that may or may NOT have to do with the issue.
I got my fullblown period yesterday, fairly normal. I had a pad at 11 am this morning with the typical thicker goobildy gook you sometimes get, the tissues, but they were white, like white, bloodless tissue. The same exact consistency as the red stuff, though. Then I got up out of bed at 2 and went for a short walk to the laundry here. In the middle of my walk, I felt like I gave birth to an alien. As soon as I got back to my hotel I checked and I had, in my pad, between one and two tablespoon size gooey piece of white and red tissue, all the same usual consistency.
I HAVE NEVERRR had this much gooey stuff with the blood before. and Ive never seen it WHITE. It´s not puslike or yeasty, its my own body tissue. WHAT is going on? Am I dying?

Background: I have a week left in a three month trip in south america. Right now, in bolivia. Because I forgot to bring bc with me and wanted to skip my periods while I was here, I bought some at the most reputable pharmacy in Cusco. I knew it was working because i didnt get my period for three weeks beyond the normal date while taking the active pills. Then about a week ago I started spotting, slowly getting heavier (with dark, old blood) when I started a new pack. I thought maybe I got a dud, because its sketchier to buy drugs down here? i tried switching to one of the other pill packs i got, then another. it kept coming, though not fullblown period. I was just one a four day trip in the salt flats, 8 hours a day in a 4wd, and the third day i woke up really ill. everyone thought it was altitude, but i dont think so... i threw up everything i ate all day and only managed an apple, then threw up more at night. the next day was better.. i ate a pancake, bread, some egg whites, tomato slices and cucumbers, but i threw up dinner too. i assumed i had the stomach flu. i felt a little hot and it didnt seem like the earlier, antibiotic treatable illnesses i had. two days ago, i also gave up on the bc from south america and stopped taking it. i began to get my fullblown period, not just light dark spotting, and today this gross goop.
I think the stomach flu and vomiting are seperate from the spotting and strange tissues, but I wanted to put it out there in case they were connected.

Fingering!

Hello Everyone :)
Last night I had a fun filled night full of lots of intense fingering sessions. This morning when I woke up I had a little bit of brown spotting, and it's continuing on till now, getting less and less with each check I make. My question is, what is this from? It's the first time i've been penetrated in about a year, and it got a little rough! Help!
[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/drama_/
Hello! I tried searching for this and couldn't find an answer I was satisfied with, although I may just be blind.

I'm on HBC (Apri Tabs to be exact) and I live in an apartment with no air conditioning. We have fans but, as you can imagine, with the temperature going up to 98 the last couple days, it's hot. Very hot. The sticker on my pack says to store between 68 and 77 degrees F. That's just not going to happen anytime soon, not until fall probably. There's nowhere in the house that is that cool. I can put them in the fridge, but obviously they'd be way below 68 degrees.

So which option would be better? Hot or cold? And how much does it really effect them? I only buy one pack at a time so at most they're only around for about five weeks (I usually refill it the week of my placebos), so long term effects aren't really an issue.

Thank you for your help!

Hello all. Today was the first time i had masturbated in about a month since i was treating a yeast infection.

I just got off my period Wed. and i was wondering if this was the cause of the spotting? I had a bit of cramping after i had an orgasm..and now, it's kind of itchy. I washed myself and put some Monistat on the part where it was itching.

Is this common after a period?

EDIT: This has happened to me in the past before, like once. When i didn't have a yeast infection.

Hi, new member, and I joined because there's this one question that's really been bugging me for awhile.

I know this will sound silly, but here goes: in romance novels or any other sex scene in a book, I occasionally read a certain thought from the dashing hero as he wanders down to the heroine's nether regions, namely "He could tell she certainly wasn't a natural blonde".

Sooo, here's the question: does pubic hair actually come in other colours? Really? 'Cause I'm as natural blonde as it gets and my hair has never been anything other than black. Does this make me a bad blonde, or something?

Thanks in advance!

I have two separate questions:
1) I get really bad razor burn every time I shave my bikini zone is there anyway I can prevent/treat this.  I've tried nairing, and it didn't work, and waxing hurts too much, so those are out of the question.

2) I've been thinking about going on birth control for various reasons, and I was just wondering what I should know about it, where I should go to get it, and what questions I should be asking my doctor about it.

I have some questions about female orgasms. It's difficult for me to put them into words, because orgasms themselves are so subjective, and even if we all agree that female orgasm is a "pleasurable release" or a "high point of sensation," it's impossible to know if what all women feel when they orgasm is the same thing... but here goes, anyway.

1. I'm very lucky in that I can have multiple orgasms from penetration alone. For the other women out there who are able to have multiple orgasms: how do you count how many orgasms you're having? I know this seems like a frivolous question, but I'm genuinely curious. Some of my orgasms are much stronger than others--the little ones feel more like a sigh or a little crest of sensation, while the big ones feel like the whole world is crashing down around me. Do they both count "equally," so to speak? Do you consider there to be such a thing as a half-orgasm or a mini-orgasm? Also, has anyone else had an experience where it felt like two or three orgasms sort of blended into one another, more like ripples on the same wave than distinct occurences? Would you count that as one prolonged orgasm, or several orgasms in succession?

I ask all of this because I find it very difficult to answer the question "How many orgasms did you have?" or "How many orgasms do you usually have during sex?" If I count all of mini-orgasms and all the orgasms that started to blend in to one another, I come up with a ridiculously high number. For which I'm very grateful--don't get me wrong! But I'm starting to think I'm counting wrong.

2. I've heard other women describe their orgasm as an experience that consumes their entire body, leaving them shaky and nearly unable to move, with every finger and toe tingly and trembling. I had never experienced an orgasm like that--at least, not until earlier today. I thought that in general, my orgasms were "smaller" or "shorter" than these mega-sensation orgasms that I had heard about. And yet today, after I had sex, I felt this extreme tingling throughout my body, almost like my fingers were buzzing, it was so intense. It was hard to stand up and I felt extremely giddy. Anyone have any clue why this happened? Why now, and not other times? (I can't think of anything we did particularly different than other times I've had sex). If you've had both the extreme tingly kind of orgasm, and other kinds, do you have any idea what makes the difference?

Thanks, everyone!

Today I was having sex in the shower for the first time. I usually pee in the shower when I shower, but I didn't this time because I thought it would be gross for my partner. Anyway, we were doing various things to each other before we got to the sex and I actually had the most amazing intense orgasm and I peed. I'm pretty sure it was pee. This has never ever happened to me before (and my partner is awesome and was totally cool with it) but I'm just curious how common it is? It was an orgasm unlike I've ever had before, so I wonder if it was from whatever he was doing down there, and I would have peed if we were in bed, or was it because my bladder knows it can relax a little more in the shower? How can I tell the difference between pee and female ejaculate? And while I'm at it, how do I know if I can ejaculate, and is that something I can learn?

Also, can an orgasm or touching something make you poo? Another time he was doing something down there and I was afraid I was doing to poo! But I didn't.

Also, he is my first penis-in-vagina sex partner in about 6 years, and when he was inside me, I found it hard to breathe and I can't quite explain the feeling, but made my stomach feel kind of funny, like I almost gagged or something at one point? NOT IN A BAD WAY... It never hurt like he was hitting my cervix (I'm pretty sure I've hit my cervix with other things and that is more of a sharp pain, wheras this was more of a sensation, maybe also a little like butterflies in the stomach?). The feeling was great, but it was just so bizarre, I don't think I would have thought it would feel like that! Has anyone else experienced that?

Thanks for your help!

I'm still looking for porn recommendations & suggestions. Right now, focusing on the written type.

I still have no idea what I'm doing.

I want to get some erotic literature, but, I don't know how to find it. I want to just go into the bookstore & pick up something and take it home.

I don't know if book stores work on the same principle as video stores - that is, with mom & pop video stores, I know that the porn is usually kept in the back in a seperate area and you have to go back there to get it.
Is it the same way with porno novels @ major bookstores?
Because if it is I can't find it...

Specific bookstores that I have locally are Borders, Borders Express & Barnes & Noble. There's one mom & pop bookstore a few miles away but I've scoured their shelves & they have a "Romance" section but nothing else. So the major chains is where I usually go. But I don't know if they stock the "Good shit."
I did not see any aisles specifically labeled, "Erotica." They just have "Romance" and then like sex self-help books.

I Define "Good shit" as highly descriptive. The book must deliver. None of that one-or-two-paragraph-sex-scenes things, and I don't want a book with just plain kissing and beating-around-the-bush and "Oh she wanted him," without actually showing that the characters Bone. And bone, preferably a lot. Or if they only bone a few times it better be damn worthwhile.
I see the pure beating around the bush with some 'romance' novels. My friend got me one of those once and it was so disappointing. I was all like "Wtf they never even get naked in this book."

And, if these major chains Do, in fact, stock the "Good shit,"
Is it in a seperate place to protect the minds of childrens, or is it all just mixed in with the "Romance" books?
It's hard to filter out the "Beating around the bush" romance from the "Filthy trash porno books," which is really what I'm looking for if it's in the Romance section. Are they in there?

Well those are my main concerns in an erotic literature...

As for preferences that are optional... I suppose it would also be too much to ask that the filthy sex book be well-written? Do they make sex books with actually good writing (good vocabulary, use of symbolism, etc.) Once in awhile I'll find a good fantasy novel with some sex in there and that's always a pleasant surprise, for example.
And I suppose it would also be too much to ask that the main characters be minorities once in awhile?
I'm more open with written porn so gay/straight/bi/monogamous/polyamourus, whatever. It's all good.

And no I did not enjoy the "Sleeping Beauty Triliogy" by Anne Rice under a pen name. That particular one didn't do it for me.

On July 19, I had surgery to remove a lump from my breast. Everything went well as far as I could tell. They tested what they removed and said it was not cancerous. I had my follow up appointment last Monday, and the surgeon looked very closely at the incision to make sure it was healing, but he didn't really feel my breast at all. I hadn't felt it either because the area was tender from the surgery and I didn't want to mess up the incision.

As of today the incision area is looking really good and it's not hurting, so I felt ok to go poking around a little to see what it felt like with the lump gone. BUT IT FEELS LIKE THE LUMP IS STILL THERE. It feels no different to me than before the surgery: same size, same hardness.

For anyone who has had a lump removed from their breast (or anyone who knows anyone who has or knows -anything- about this at all) is this possibly just part of the healing process? Will the area get softer and feel more like breast tissue as time goes by? Or is this as strange and wrong as I think it is?

(I am absolutely going to see the surgeon about this again, but he is only in the Breast Center on Mondays, and I doubt I'll be able to get an appointment for this coming Monday, meaning I'll have to wait at least a week, so I'd just like some opinions/experiences in the meantime.)

Hi everyone! I hope this post isn't extremely inappropriate, and I know that it doesn't exactly belong in the community but you have all always been so helpful to me with my questions and I wasn't sure where to ask this. If there is a better community that this should be posted in, please let me know so I can take it out from here and head on my merry way there. Thanks!!

Random, weird, and possibly naive question, but can cum block the shower drain? My drain usually gets all funky when too much hair floats down there, and so the dirty water has a hard time draining out of the tub. I had sex for the first time in the shower a couple of days ago, my man came, and I didn't really give it much thought until my tub filled up today while I was showering. It has been fine for a long time. If so, how can I get rid of this problem? If my dad tries to fix the drain, will he come upon a nasty surprise?

Thank you all!

Okay, first I am going to see my doctor because this is worrying me, but I'm trying to decide if I should try and see someone before Monday. And I'm posting in this community because a lot of the things I'm finding abotu heart-palpatations through googling are woman-specific. And women experience heart arracks differently and all that.

The feeling I am having is like my heart skips a beat or jumps into my throat. I think this is happening every 10-30 minutes and this has been going on, at least that I've noticed, for the past 2 or 3 days. Sometimes it is accompanied with a feeling like ym heart is racing, sometimes not. If it wasn't so frequent, I wouldn't be scared because I've had doctors tell me everyone expereinces these occasioanlly. I've read that this can be a symptom of perimenopause. I certainly hope not as I'm only 27 and still want to have kids. However, I also have PCOS, and I haven't had very many periods in the last year--- they were always far apart, but they've gotten further apart since I had my first child (and a c-section, if that matters) 3 years ago. I think part of that might be I gained a ton of weight after my daughter died.

Which leads me to my next part-- I'm losing weight. I've lost 10 lb. in the last week on Atkins and I'm concerned that might be screwing with my hormone levels. The literatuere I'm finding on heart palpitsations in women said that FSH raising may cause heart palpatations. Also that estrogen dominance can cause arrhythmias, which I'm thinking might be the cause since duh, I'm not having periods. I also at the same time that I started Atkins went back on me 88mcg of levthyroixine that I had been bad and not taking lately. I'm wondering if my body is adjusting to it and/or if losing weight might be effecting my dosage. I also was on Metformin for awhile and am going to go back on it, but want to talk to my doctor about my heart palpatations first.

I did have a blood test about two months ago and aside from hypothyroidism and PCOS, my cholesterol and that were all fine a was my blood pressurev. I am eating mostly lean meats, but I am consuming more bacon and eggs then I would ever normally consume.

Ergh.. just trying not to freak out here. I'm managing to keep my and self calm, but occasionally feel a little panicy. I know it's probably nothing, but I'm afraid I'm going to have a heart attack or something before I can see my doctor.

I've been on Yaz since May and have been stacking my packs, as my doctor told me to (we're trying to avoid the icky cramps I've been having; I'm not sexually active at all, so it's not to prevent pregnancy). I'm about eight days away from the placebos, but I've already started to have my usual pre-period discharge. I know breakthrough bleeding can happen, so that's not my concern, especially since I haven't had a period since May. I'm just wondering, should I go ahead and skip to the placebos now? I'd rather do that than have my period twice in a two-week period!

Edit: I doubt this changes anything, but I've spotted streaks of blood, now, which means this is definitely my period. Huh, guess that brief tummyache yesterday was cramps!

Hello, I'm new here. =)

I have a very stupid question..
