My friend just told me that she got a UTI after having sex with someone. I said I didn't know that could happen, and she said it was because of the type of sex they had. She didn't elaborate, and I didn't want to embarrass her, but I'm curious. Is she referring to anal, then? How is this possible?

Alright, here's the story.
My vagina is bone dry. My entire vulva is dry, all the way down to the top of my booty crack.
It's easier to see if I do a glorious MS painting of it:
MS paint glory! )

I'm about to take a razorblade to her. Does anyone know a good remedy for this, and anything I can put on it right now (that most people have at home) to make it stop itching? Thanks!

I read all the entries tagged "condoms" and found nothing to answer my question.

Does anyone know where to get non-latex condoms on the cheap? Examples are Trojan Supra and Durex Avanti. I'm not interested in the Reality condom. If you know someone who might know, please ask them for me. I have a latex allergy that only seems to be getting worse--now I can't even use latex dishwashing gloves without getting a rash on my arms, so imagine what it's like on the mucous membrane that is my vagina! (In other threads, commenters suggested that posters weren't actually latex-sensitive but were instead having a reaction to the lubricant.)

I don't want to be a prude just because I don't have condoms; at the same time, I don't want to make unsafe sexual decisions just because I don't have a safer-sex option available.

Any tips are appreciated--Good Vibes and Condomania are pretty expensive ($10 and $12 for a box of six). I've already done Google and exhausted my own resources, now it's time to network. Although $2/sex act may be less than the cost of medical treatments for pregnancy or STIs, it is still prohibitive for me.

I went through the discharge and infections memories, but I'm still pretty unsure.
Has anyone ever seen/heard of discharge smelling like vinegar?
It's relatively normal-looking, a little on the thick side and white. It doesn't bleach my panties, although over time they naturally start to fade. The problem is the odor. It smells exactly like vinegar, and it's strong and gross and I'm alway self conscious for it.
What's weird is I only get it when I'm here at college. I'm thinking it has something to do with the food, because I eat the same kind of thing at home (some meat, some veggies, some junkfood, some fruit, water, juice, soda, milk, most of these in normal proportion). The food here sometimes gives me indigestion, but this is just weird.
It's pretty consistent throughout my cycle, although the smell is pretty noticable just before my period.
I have/had no known infections or diseases besides HSV-1 and rarely UTIs. Sexual activity is infrequent. I'm pretty stringent on hygiene.

Very rarely I'll use a vinegarette salad dressing. I've also cured UTIs with a tablespoon of vinegar (nightmares I never want to revisit). I hardly ever use catchup or anything else that might have it. So what's up?

Sorry if this is a repeat, but I can't seem to find anything that answers my question in the archives.

My cervix feels 'different'. I'm not sure if I can say I feel one or more specific bumps, but it just feels different. I can't tell if they are bumps or ridges or what. All I know is that on any other occasion my cervix has always felt completely smooth, and now there is a texture. Lumpy? Maybe that's a better description.

Could anyone either tell me or link me to somewhere that I can research this. I'd just like to know what cysts feel like, or even HPV? I have no idea what this is, but I do know that this is not normal for me.

I've had no new sexual partners since my last pap/STI tests so I don't think that it's an STI, although I've heard that alot of them are only symptomatic after a longer period of time.

Just to let you know, I am making a doctor's appointment for early next week to get this checked out. In the meantime, any information you guys could give me would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi. I already checked the HPV posts and my questions weren't really addressed, but if i've missed something, please direct me there.

I was told today that my Pap Smear results were abnormal and I tested positive for a high-risk strain of HPV. Shitty, but I know it's really common, and I'm young, so I figure I will do everything my doctors tell me, and hope for the best. I am scheduling a colposcopy at the nearest gyno (I'm living in a new town, and just went to a general physician for my pap) and after that I'll have a better idea of how to procede, but at the moment I'm concerned with notifying past sexual partners and making sure their current sexual partners have been tested recently.

I am currently in a long-term, monogomous relationship (we've been together for about a year and a half), but one thing we're trying to figure out is if I contracted it from him, or from someone else. I've already spoken with my most recent partner prior to the beginning of our relationship, and he said that his girlfriend (the only person he's been with since me) had a papsmear relatively early on in their relationship and it was normal, but has not had one since. My boyfriend's most recent partner prior to the beginning of our relationship also was tested early on in the period of time they were together because she was diagnosed with another sti (I can't remember what it is called, it results in lesions of a sort on the skin and is treated with a topical cream - he had a breakout and they went away, I don't believe I was infected because we figured out what his were early on and avoided skin to skin contact). Her papsmear came back normal (he thinks - they aren't on speaking terms, so he's not entirely sure) but I'm not sure how much time had passed since her last sexual partner before him or any details about that, so it may not tell us much.

So. My pertinent question is this: How long after exposure or contraction of HPV can it be detected? Is there a waiting period, or can it be detected immediately?

My hope is that if I can figure out a point in time when either my boyfriend or I was most likely infected, I can avoid awkward unnecessary phone calls to exes and put a couple of friends with whom I have shared sexual partners at ease to some degree.

I have one other secondary question, how concerned should I be about having sex without a condom with my boyfriend? I recently switched to the NuvaRing with the possibility of having sex without a condom in mind, however I don't want to pass HPV on to him if he doesn't already have it. I know that there is no sure way to test for HPV in men, but I'm assuming that he probably has it. We've always used condoms, but only during actual penetration, during foreplay we don't use condoms, and there is usually skin to skin contact. So he probably already has HPV right? And regardless of whether I gave it to him or he gave it to me, he probably has the same strain, so he's just about the safest partner I could be with, yeah? Or do you guys still think it's a bad idea to have sex without a condom?

Sorry this got long, thanks for your responses.

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has had similar experiences. This morning, my husband and I had sex which was unremarkable except for being a quickie and I wasn't that aroused when we started. I did feel some pressure, but not pain, on maybe my cervix as he penetrated me from behind. We both orgasmed, me with manual stimulation, and then after he came and withdrew a minute later was when it started. I began to have a very intense cramp, similar to a menstrual cramp, but more intense than any I've ever had. I also became lightheaded to the point where my peripheral vision started to blur and I was afraid I was going to pass out. I was nauseous and broke out in a cold sweat, which I am not sure whether is related to the pain of the cramp.

I elevated my feet, took an ibuprofen, and applied my trusty heating pad to my pelvic region. After about 30 mins, the pain subsided and right now I am feeling pretty normal.

This whole thing felt almost like some weird rebellion of my sympathetic nervous system, but was very scary. I am on Leena birth control pills and have been with little problem for about a year. I am on day 10 right now, so not premenstrual. I have no other relevant medical problems. Any thoughts?
Thanks for reading!

I have a question about HPV. Essentially, sex was painful to me for a while, and I finally got fed up and went to the ob/gyn. She couldn't figure it out and did a biopsy of the painful area, where she found somewhat abnormal cells. She said that the cells had abnormalities that one usually associates with HPV. However, the cells weren't on my cervix (they were on my labia), and my pap smears have all been normal. The thing is, that wasn't the problem. It turned out that it was just a chronic yeast infection that had really dried out the skin, making it crack easily. She never really clarified if I have HPV or not, and I don't think there's any way to know besides to get another biopsy, which I refuse to do at this point, because owww. My question is, if I end up having another sexual partner sometime in the future, if I know that he's been tested and I'm STI-free for all that I know of except possibly HPV, and I'm using a diaphragm, do I need to use condoms? I'm just not sure if I have HPV or how transmissible it is.

Hello, Im hoping someone will have some insight on whats going on with my body.

Let me start with I have been on OTC-lo for the past 2 years 10 months. I went on it initially because my periods were very irregular and frequent, and was essentially on my period more days a month than i was not.

Every month my period would start on the Thursday of my placebo week and be EXTREMELY HEAVY and last until Tuesday. There has never been anything different. And I had never had a light period.

I lost my virginity at the beginning of this year, but did not start having sex frequently until August.
September I started a new semester at college, which has added a lot of stress with work as well.

Ever since I started having sex frequently, my periods have been a LOT lighter. They use to be super heavy... Heavy ++ and now they are anywhere from light to medium/light.

I dont think I could be pregnant because I use 3 forms of protection and I am still getting a period, though it is much lighter. The only thing that worries me a little is that I have heard of pregnant woman having spotting which they have mistaken for their periods. But then I dont know how I would have gotten pregnant since I am very safe about it, so I really dont think its that.

But it makes me nervous because ever since I have started having sex, my period is a LOT lighter. I dont know if its the sex or the stress?

Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks for the help!

Hello.

Please help talk some sense into me! I was hoping maybe someone could help me out with a little advice.

Sunday night i had sex. Last night, Monday night, me and the bf tried to have sex again. The key word being "tried." It seemed as thought the right side of the inside of my vaginal wall was in too much pain for even a finger to touch it. However, before trying to have sex i didn't feel any discomfort.

I asked my bf too look at it and see if it was red. He is a boy and i guess can't tell the difference. I tried to look in a mirror but i couldn't really tell either. I thought that maybe it was torn from the sex the night before? So we stopped all the sexual activity and i decided to take a shower and just rise myeslf off down there. I did that and had no problems. However, it hurt when i urinated. I wasn't sure if maybe i had/have a UTI, or if the urine touching some raw/torn skin just bruned a little. You know what i mean? Today i peed and it hurt a little, but not as much.

So one of my question is, how can i tell if it's a uti or if it's just sore from the sex?

It doesn't hurt when i do anything except pee. Last night i woke up in the middle of the night and had to go pee, which is a little odd for me. It was almost like i peed my pants whlie sleeping, i can't really explain it.

I was told before that i had genital herpes. After being told that, i was tested and was told i did NOT have it. I wasn't planning on getting tested for it again untill i'm due for a pap in 2 months. Could it be possible that i'm having a herpes outbreak but only on the inside, and only on that one side of my vaginal canal?

Also, my bf bought some new lube and we had used it Sunday for the first time. I had put it on my hand before to see if i had a reaction to it and i hadn't. So maybe the lube caused the irritation? I can't read what's in it because it's all in german. It's a silicon based lube.

Has anyone ever had a reaction like this from a new lube?

I feel like im starting to overreact, and i don't want to. I've been having sex with the same boy for 5 years and i don't even remember not being able to do it because i was in pain.

Do you ever just get sore from sex for a day or two after? Even if it's not real rough sex? I'm not swollen at all it jsut kind of feels raw when i touch it with my finger. I figured i might go see a doctor but i'm not sure who to go to. I'd go to a gyno if it was herpes or soemthing sex related, but for a UTI i'd go to my regular docotor.

Any advice is really appreciated.

I've checked the archives and am still not sure what is going on. I'll try to keep this as ramble-free as possible. About 5 days ago I noticed what seemed to be minor irritation right above my clitoris but below the mons (I'll be posting a pic to demonstrate where.) I didn't think too much of it - figured I'd scratched myself while washing (unused to new, long fingernails) or some such. Well, the irritation didn't go away, and I was bad and made it worse by rubbing/scratching/generally not leaving it alone or going to the doc. I alos haven't shaved in a while and I think the hair in a usually hairless place is making it worse but I'm afraid to shave it right now. Now it's spread and looks kind of weepy and really, really irritated. It hurts like hell too. I have no earthly idea what it could be, but here's what I'm almost positive it's not:
-a yeast infection (there's no unusual discharge or odor and I've had YI before and it's nothing like this)
-an STI, otherwise why would it only be there? have had unprotected oral sex before this happened but not seeing any irritation/redness/etc anywhere else, and when I asked my partner she said she is not seeing these symptoms, and she's been tested for STIs within the last 2 mos and results were negative.
I figure this is nothing more than majorly irritated snatch but am not sure. I also don't want to go see the doc if I don't have to (kinda poor right now). Can anyone help?
Edit: I'm beginning to think this is just a sore caused by dry skin/inital irritation that I made much, much worse. If so, what should I put on it? Neosporin? Cortisone?

I posted this yesterday:
http://community.livejournal.com/vaginapagina/8956286.html?nc=10

And I just wanted to say that the mix of the Cetaphyl and Tea Tree Oil combined made her very happy for the time being. Now I've got some long term questions:
1. Can I use gentian violet on the parts that are bleeding and chapped? And if I can, can I pick some up in a Walgreens or CVS, or do I have to special order it from a GNC?
2. If I start seeing signs again of this, what should my first line of attack be?

Edit:: I'd just like to mention that my doctor can't see me for two weeks, so I'm SOL.

I don't really think I have anything to worry about, but just because I'm always worrying, I thought I'd post here and get some opinions.

This morning my boyfriend and I were fooling around, and we were both in our underwear - me in a kind-of lace pair from victoria's secret, that cover but barely, and he was in his boxers, with his penis sticking out accidentally, and we were making out, and came unexpectedly and it was a little below my left hip, one my skin and my underwear and a little on my pubic hair. i wiped it off and everything afterwards, but i found something later tonight that might be dried up semen, but i know i'm also ovulating so i've been extra "gooey," so it could've been that.

anyways, what i'm asking is do i have a reason to be worried about being pregnant - and how readily available is the morning-after pill in new york city? that's where i live, and i remember hearing about something that passed a while back that made it possible to get the morning-after pill over-the-counter - but that could be wrong, though if it is available, i'd really want to get it just to be safe.

how worried should i be?
