Are diseases more transferable through menstrual blood than regular vaginal secretions?
If so, how and please provide links to reliable back up sources.
This is not for school or anything but my own curiousity.
Thank you!

I looked through all the resources associated with this site, and did NOT see anything. If I missed it, feel free to link me to the correct FAQ link or whatever.

About how long does it take to get the results of your STD/STI test back from Planned Parenthood?

I'm 19 and a virgin, I'm on the patch because for one day each month I would become useless with bad cramps and vomiting.

The patch has made my periods heaven. I love it.

One problem: I can't seem to remember to change the patch every week! argh! I've been on it for about 7 or 8 months now. This is the second time I have forgotten to put the new patch on. I take off the 3rd patch to have my period and a week later I forget to put on a new one. I was suppose to put it on Friday, so it's been over 24 hours. =/

I'm not having sex so I'm not worried about getting pregnant, but will this mess up my body some how? Or is it safe just to put on the next patch and not worry about it?

I looked through the archives but didn't find an answer, sorry if this is repeated. Someone recently posted about missing a pill, and the only drawback seemed to be that she wasn't as protected. Is it the same for the patch?

Thanks so much!

my girlfriend has, what we think, is a yeast infection. she's never had one before, but she has the classic symptoms, and she has been on antibiotics for the past 8 days. it's been like this for about a week, and she tried a OTC three day treatment but it didn't work. this morning she cried when she urinated, because she says when the urine hits her vulva it burns very bad. she went into a walk in clinic and they tested her for a UTI (which was negitive)and were going to do a pelvic exam but they didn't have enough time, and perscribed diflucan. tonight, we had to leave prom 2 hours early because she felt really sick, and when we got home she had a 102.7 fever(she had a low grade fever[99ish] earlier in the day). so basically, my questions are: is a fever normal with yeast infections? and also, when she wipes the toilet paper is a little bit pink, so is blood normal as well? i hate to see her this miserable, and don't know if these things are normal. OH, and when she was perscribed antibiotics for sinus infection, her dr. warned her that she could develop a yeast infection because "you are now at that age". she's 18 (was 17 a week ago, though), but i thought age didn't matter with somthing like that..? am i wrong? thank you for any help at all, yall are wonderful.

I know there are numerous posts about yeast infections and I checked through the memories. I have a yeast infection again thanks to antibiotics and I am using the apple cider douche to help treat it. My question is how many times a day should I douche? I know the directions said not to douche for more than 10 days but never mentioned how many times is safe to do it per day.

I have an ovarian cyst that is being surgically removed on the 19th. It causes abdominal pain.

Until then, I have what are the syptoms of a yeast infection.

Would I be alright to treat this yeast infection with a monistat treatment product? The warnings read "discontinue if you have abdominal pain".....well, I have abdominal pain alot now, but that's due to the cyst. It's Sunday, and I can't contact my doctor until tomorrow, but I wanted to start treatment today.

So I don't know what's wrong with me. For the past 3 days I've had these horrible pains in my stomach area. It almost feels like I'm cramping but I took midol and it didn't help whatsoever.

I thought maybe it'd be a bladder infection but I looked at all the symptoms and I don't really have any.

It kinda hurts worse after I pee but not really.
When I eat it doesn't help or make it worse at all.
Otherwise that's the only thing that's bugging me is these pains in my stomach area.
edit! Lately I've been getting dizzy whenever I stand up. These pains have been going on and off and it's just a jabbing sort of pain.

I purchased my first box of instead softcups today, and am excited about the prospect of having non-messy period sex. How empowering!!

I just inserted my first-ever menstrual cup and it feels great, I can't feel it at all. However, my only concern is that it doesn't feel like it's very far inside of me, certainly not far enough to allow for intercourse. I can feel the rim if I put my finger into my vagina, and not even up to my first knuckle. Is this correct? Have any of you had experience having sex while wearing Instead?

Thank you so much!

This morning I woke up and went to the toilet and took out my tampon and then urinated, then suddenly I heard a 'plop' sound and I looked into the toilet (because I felt nothing leave my body) and there was a blood clot the size of a bouncy ball with the diameter of 1 1/2 inches. I have been getting my period for 8 years now and I have never experienced a clot that big, it was gross. It never seperated in the toilet either it was just like this ball of blood (it sank). Has anyone ever experienced a clot that big with their period? Is it normal? im not worried it was just kinda weird.

Hi everyone, I was just wondering what your thoughts are about Vagisil, the over the counter anti-itch creme. I used it a few weeks ago and it made my irritation and itch go away, but is anyone against its use? Also, I know you use it on your labia, but is it bad to put it on (not in) the vagina?
Thanks tons!

Has anyone used the Elexa Vibrating Ring (http://www.elexabytrojan.com/product.aspx?prod_code=ring)? My boyfriend and I saw it at the store last night and were very intrigued but I didn't wanna pay $10 for it without finding out more about it first! How exactly does it work? Did you enjoy it?

Hey hey, congratulations are in store, i have my first YI! *insert applaus*

yep, itchy (grr), yep cottage cheesey, havn't noticed the smell yet, but it'll get there.

anyway, i've been racking my brains over that trying to figure out how i got his and i think "oh, i hope its not my diva!"

see, i just finished my first cycle with the diva cup. and i love it. but its not worth using it if i'm spending more than the money i'd spend on pads buying YI treatments every month. soooo...

I'm thinking that perhaps next period i need to be a little more stringent on cleaning my cup. see, i cleaned it the whole time with just plain warm water, becaus i'm worried that if i use any soap or anything i'll just get irritated because i have sensitive skin. so i was thinking the best would be warn water. but i guess not.

so, any suggestions on the YI? Do i really need to see a doctor to get it diagnosed, even though its really freaking obvious? and if i get acidophilus pills (if i don't go to the doctor), do i take them orally or vaginally?

and

any suggestions on a soap or cleaning product that wont make me itchy and swollen down there? doesn't sound like fun to me, so...

thanks all, for help and for just being the awesome VP girls you all are.

Mods, I hope this is ok.

I made this post yesterday.

Well, I did some more searching. I found a couple communities, but none seemed to really be what I was looking for, so I created one of my own: [livejournal.com profile] not_ttc_now. Yeah, I know... the name is really boring. Anyway, for those of you who didn't catch it the first time, - there are a lot of communities about infertility, but they all seem to focus on those women who are trying to conceive. This is for those of us who are infertile and definitely unable to conceive, or who aren't trying to conceive right now.
