For every time I thought 'are they stupid?' when I read a news story where someone gave birth unexpectedly and those around them said 'we never suspected she was pregnant' I recently learned firsthand that it is very, very possible.

Recently a relative had a baby. I saw her about four weeks before. I thought she had gained a little weight but didn't suspect the cause. No one did.

I feel kind of bad for her. I can't imagine suddenly having to deal with a baby one day, out of the blue. Poor girl didn't even get the gestation period to plan out raising her own kid.

That's crazy! Although if you're sexually active and you miss periods on a regular basis, it might be worth your while to have a few pregnancy tests and check on a regular basis (every couple of months at least), just so you're prepared for the situation.

it says she continued to wear size zero pants throughout her pregnancy....WOW... i just don't get how a 6 lb baby can fit inside a uterus that barely looks bigger from the outside?

They were probably low rise. My cousin wasn't a size zero, but she wore her low-rise jeans through her entire pregnancy and had a 7lb 13oz little girl. :) I can't believe it wouldn't be visible though. Even if it wasn't a HUGE bump.

WTF.

SIZE ZERO PANTS? WITH SIX POUNDS OF BABY BOY INSIDE HER?

o.O;;

Oh, and your icon made me giggle. I know it probably shouldn't have 'cause Ana was showing human emotion by the time she died, BUT SHE WAS SUCH A BITCH.

Er. . .anyway.

Wtf. I can't get over that people just don't notice these things.

That is insane, but what's even more amazing is that out of the girl, her boyfriend, and her mother, no one freaked out. I would have had a panic attack if I were any one of the three of them.

My mom would have kicked my ass for sure!

Sounds like babies are familiar in her family. My guess is that her sister or brother had kids young (her mom is already a grandma 2 times over), and possibly her mom did as well. It is often a trait that runs in families.

I guess that if that happened to someone I knew we'd all be so bowled over we wouldn't be upset after we got over the WTF!?

It's so awesome that they decided to keep him. I wish I could do the same thing in that situation.

My friend had a baby in college, had no idea she was pregnant until she was in labour. She's very tall, she assumes he must have been quite vertical the whole time.

It happens :)

I guess it happens, but it just seems sort of ridiculous. If you're sexually active and miss your period of the next few months (even if you're irregular), it still seems kind of weird that you wouldn't even suspect anything.

some girls only get maybe one or two periods a year - IF that. After living with that sort of thing for years on end, one doesn't just start assuming pregnancy is the reason anymore.

But I kind of agree. I'm one of those "irregulars" but if I go 50 days without a period I start testing, and continue testing once every 30 days or so until I eventually get one, or induce one.

True, but wouldn't you feel the baby kicking? I mean you'd have to know something was up. I think she probably know, but was in denial, or kept it a secret.

I remember with mine the kicks could have been gas cramps, or such, had they been deeper in my belly not right under my nose. If I had been still skinny I could have confused it I suppose, for something else.
