my cousin just confided in me that she has genital herpes, type 1. she's confused as to how she got it, and after doing some research on webmd.com, i'm as confused as she is. i read repeatedly that an initial outbreak happens 2-14 days after infection, which to me means her supposedly faithful, virgin-before-her boyfriend was a liar (i know she didn't sleep with anyone besides him). but she's utterly convinced he didn't cheat on her, because he was floored she had it and was accusing her of cheating on him, and so on. however, i also read that many people carrying the virus don't show symptoms...but can those people show symptoms eventually? i ask because she had one previous sexual partner, and she'd suspect him, but that was from at least two years ago. we're both just rather confused, so if anyone has any understanding of how the timeframe really works, please inform me. thank you!

Hi.

I just joined because I noticed something rather odd and I don't know who else to ask.

My vagina smells like chicken soup this morning. Is that normal? And no, I haven't been eating a lot of chicken lately.

A very helpful site for both men & women

I was browsing around and found this site. It has charts and diagrams and stuff, and helpful hints for guys and girls on the sexual anatomies of both. It also explains a lot about each sex for reference on how to please them better. Unlike most "Get your lover off in 5 seconds!" articles you see in top magazines, this actually explains things more scientifically and shows you where things are and why certain things do what.

What I found humurous was in this pic the woman's hands are all over her girly bits. Why did they do that? Couldn't they just show the vaginal parts?

This one's a bit embarrassing but here goes. I've been married for, well forever, and my sex life's been almost non-existant for a couple of years thanks to my hubby being depressed then on anti-depressants. I usually get by with the help of my trusty vibrator. Well, now my vibrator, after a long and productive life, is dead and I can't afford to buy a new one till payday (just over a week away). Now here's my problem: I can't seem to bring myself to climax without the damned thing anymore! I don't know why, I used to be able to do that but now it's just not working.

What am I doing wrong? Or what am I missing? Any ideas anyone?

so i got my DivaCup last night and tried to use it this morning. and the damn thing nearly ripped me up! it was so weird. i'm not a virgin but for some reason i couldn't get it inside of me and the cup popped back open before it was all the way in and whatever might have been left of my hymen is ruined. i tried a couple of times and it hurt too much so i gave up for the time being. i don't know how to get the stupid thing in and it hurts. i was so excited to use it. and then it hurt my vag!

does anyone have any ideas as to how i can get the stupid thing in??

i also bought sea sponges and those things are way bigger than i thought...

Starting this year in january I started getting pains in my ovaries. Sometimes on one side, sometimes on the other. Its not the same feeling I get when I ovulate either. On February I got on birth control(the patch) and also made an appointment to see my gyno about these pains. I got in to see him in March. I had already been on the bc for a month. He did a vaginal ultrasound and said he saw nothing wrong w/ my ovaries and told me that I just have "tender" ones.

at the time I saw my gyno the pains had almost completely stopped. Now recently I just went off bc because of side effects I was having(went off the bc in late april) and now the pains in my ovaries are back. Everyday I feel twinges of pain there...so I'm just looking for advice or ideas on this...does anyone else have..."tender ovaries"? Is it possible I have cysts and when I went to see my gyno they didnt show up on the ultra sound because I had been on bc for a month? I'm just scared and upset and any feedback would be great.
Thank you so much.

I don't know if you remember me.
But I posted a couple weeks ago.
& I was concerned that I was pregnent.
And since I'm 16 and the circumstances with my mom I decided to get some adivce from here.

Well I just (as in 10 mins ago) took an at home pregnancy test.
I think it was called "Reality" ?
Thankfully it came up negative.

So is that it then?
I'm not?
Hah..I sure hope so.

I just guess I wait out till my period comes around?
My last period started the 8th of March and I was spotting for a couple of days in middle April

So I am guessing it's just the ton of stress I have been under lately that may have caused that to happen.
Also I heard that the changing season may cause your cycle to get a little mixed up.
But I don't know if that's a myth or not.

But anyways thanks for all your support on my decisons and for taking my feelings into consideration!

In July my one year anniversary falls on a day I have my period. I am on Alesse 21 and I want to skip my period so I can have sex on that day. Now I know that to skip it I should just start the next pack of pills when I finish the last one. So if I take the pills right when I finish my last pack, so I just wanted to know once i'm done with the second pack do I just wait a week without them like normal then on the sunday start a new pack like I'd normally would? If that didn't make sense let me know and I'll clarify. Thanks!

Hi guys,

The more I take these pills, the more I realize how little I understand them.

I'm in the first week of my pack. I usually take my pill around 9, but on Monday I forgot and took it that evening, around 8:00. Today, my husband and I had unprotected sex. Is there a chance I could get pregnant? Normally I would feel fine because I wouldn't be ovulating, but I know that the pill is supposed to *prevent* ovulation, so I basically don't know (for the first time, because of these friggin' pills!) what's going on down there.

Any clarifying comments would be helpful.

First things first: besides the obvious OB/GYN, are there any other careers having to do with women's sexual health out there? I like learning about sex and sharing my knowledge with others, and I was brought up very body-positive. I would really enjoy that sort of career. Any thoughts?

Also, I have a question about the "periods" you get while on the pill. The reason why you bleed is because of the withdrawl of horomones during your placebo week, correct? So theoretically, someone on birth control could not depend on their period to tell them they're not pregnant (disregarding the fact that it's pretty much impossible to get pregnant using your pills correctly.) Hypothetically, if someone missed a couple of pills, then conceived, resumed taking their pills as normal, and had their period in their placebo week like normal, they wouldn't know if they were pregnant? Or will your period stop when you conceive, no matter if you should be bleeding because of the decrease in horomones?

Just something I was thinking about today that I'd like to know the awnser to. I hope you guys followed that!

how likely is it for someone to get pregnant if the guy cums in her, the day before she starts her period?
[identity profile] meleth.livejournal.com
I started my period the Thursday before last (so almost two weeks ago), and I began taking my BCP, Microgynon 30, the same day. Am I going to stop bleeding at any point? It's actually lightened up so that it's generally just a brownish discharge, not really a period, but it starts when I orgasm, which results in blood on the sheets and the realisation that I haven't bloody stopped. Will I stop bleeding? Soon? I mean, two weeks is just ridiculous.

Read here.. please )

But the problem is-

- it stings when I pee
- Oddly enough, I had discharge before but now there's no discharge.
- My vagina feels swollen and dry.
- I have been having the burning on my legs (no rash or anything). It goes and come and it's in werid places like my ankle, my lower back and thighs.
-Sometimes pain in the genital area
-No bumps or rash

So have any you guys ever had it before? or what do you think it is?

I'm going to see the dr again tmw morning.

I was reading my favorite news site, and came upon a link for this story. It is absolutely ridiculous. I think the judge needs to be examined or something.

Click here for the story. Warning: May trigger memories for sexual assault/abuse survivors.

This is just twisted.

Hello all...

I am wanting to ask a question about Emergency Contraceptive Pills...
Not how to obtain them, etc., but rather: Has anyone here taken them while on your regular BC pills? I was given Lo-Ovral, and am on Yasmin. So that means that I took 5 BCPs each day (yesterday and today), one Yasmin and 4 ECP(with the 12 hour re-dose schedule). Should I expect anything out of the ordinary? I didn't find anything that was said by the doc to be very helpful..>.>..

i've noticed that lately my menstural blood is a sort of bright orange-red or very bright red color. what's normal? it seems that in the past my blood has been a deeper shade of red. is this a deficiency maybe? or just a variance of my body?
