I'm sorry I'm such avid poster lately usually I don't have problems.

But last night was my fourth night using the 7-day cream I bought for my yeast infection. I no longer have a painful, red, swollen vagina. Andmy discharge has gone back to normal and the itchiness has died down a little bit I'M STILL ITCHY! is this normal for the itchiness to be one of the last symptoms to go away? I'm not itchy at all unless I'm naked. For example, in the shower or when I go to sleep. And I'm only itchy on my clit and right at the opening of my vagina. Not inside or anywhere else. Is the medication working? If everything thinks it's not working I'll go to the doctor. Also, my periods coming. I heard periods flush out your vagina and help clean things up. Truth? If so will that help relieve me a little? Thanks and sorry again for being annoying but you ladies help soooooo much.<3.

Why does the planned Parenthood telephone information (when you're on hold) say that Chlamydia is the most common STI? I thought HPV was. Am I wrong?

Good morning, I was pms'ing big time and I hate how emotional I get about a week before my period comes. Does anyone know of any natural remedies to take for pms (ie: St. John's Wort)? I've tried birth control and I really didn't like the side effects too much. I would rather try something more herbal. Any suggestions?

So what exactly are the odds that a yeast infection treatment would work if that's not what it was? I'm asking because I'm a little more than slighty paranoid that that isn't what I have (I have no other symptoms - just itchy and burning) and I'm working on making a doctor appointment just to be sure. This leads me to my main concern: Having sex. Should I wait to have sex until I know for sure what it is? And if it's ok to have sex how long should I wait after the last treatment for my yeast infection? I know the cream can break down the condom.

I'm on day three of my treatment and I hardly itch at all. So I'm thinking I had a yeast infection after all with just no other symptoms.

Any advice/help would be incredably appreciated. You're all fantastic.

Maintaining good physical health often depends on a well-balanced diet, exercise, and receiving regular medical tests to help detect conditions early, when the chances of successful treatment are the greatest. The type and frequency of medical tests a woman should have depend on her age and often other circumstances, such as a family history of diseases, etc. This article summarizes the necessary medical tests for women under age 40.

Medical Tests for Women Under 40

* Breast self-exam: Thorough breast self-exams should be practiced monthly beginning at age 20 to check for any breast or nipple changes that may indicate breast conditions or cancer.

* Skin self-exam: The skin and moles should be examined monthly for any changes that may indicate skin cancer or other skin conditions.

* Pelvic exam: A physician-performed pelvic exam should be performed each year beginning at age 18 to check for abnormalities in the size or shape of the uterus, vagina, ovaries, Fallopian tubes, bladder, and rectum.

* Pap smear: A physician-performed Pap smear should be performed each year beginning at age 18 to screen for cervical cancer and other cervical abnormalities.

* Eye exam: A thorough eye exam should be performed every year until age 18 and then every one to two years until age 60, when annual eye exams should resume.

* Blood pressure test: Blood pressure should be checked by a healthcare provider at least every two years. High blood pressure increases the risk of heart disease and stroke.

* Clinical breast exam: A physician-performed clinical breast exam should be performed at least every three years between the ages of 20 and 39 to help detect breast cancer.

* Skin exam: A thorough skin exam should be performed by a physician at least every three years to help detect changes that may indicate skin cancer or other skin conditions.

* Cholesterol test: A cholesterol blood test should be performed at least every five years. High LDL ("bad") cholesterol, high total cholesterol levels or low HDL ("good") cholesterol levels increase the risk of heart disease and stroke.

* Dental exam: Regular dental exams and cleanings should be performed to detect cavities and other periodontal diseases.

* Bone mineral density test: Women at high risk of osteoporosis, such as those with a strong family history, those who have had a hysterectomy including ovary removal, etc., may be advised to have a bone mineral density test.

How often should you go the gyn for "check-ups" etc.?

I believe I'm due to go, and I'm not a fan....

When Affinity is Really an Affront
By HEATHER MALLICK
Saturday, April 2, 2005 Page F2 Globe and Mail

I got out the big scissors this week and cut my Bank of Montreal Mosaik (sic) MasterCard in half. This was after visiting the branch to settle any outstanding bills on the card.

"May I ask why you're killing your card?" the teller asked politely, and I explained that the bank had an anti-abortion affinity Mosaik MasterCard, and I wished to express my anger with scissors and, more important, with my money.

The teller was shocked and ashamed, and the polite branch manager clearly didn't believe such a card existed, though he put his head on his desk and groaned when I told him about my changed plans for moving new GICs to his bank.

This is how most people react to the news of the credit card. It's just too weird. But BMO has had this arrangement with Ottawa-based LifeCanada for 10 years, and now that pro-choice customers know about it, they are beginning a drive to boycott the bank. When I ask whether BMO approached the anti-abortion group or it approached BMO, the bank says it doesn't keep records that old, which is odd. I do, and I'm not even a bank.

After Sex

I just got married and have only been having sex for about 3 weeks. While I could ask a mirade of questions, I have one particular question about after sex. Has anyone else had the experience of both partners smelling like freshly baked bread right after sex? Neither my husband nor myself have ever had any symptoms of a yeast infection (or any other infection, and we've only ever had sex with each other). His nether area has always had a slight bread smell when he's turned on, but now after sex we both smell this way. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

I was just at this Planned Parenthood training session about STI, and I learned somethig that I thought I'd pass on.

We were studying the STI and other infections that can lead to infertility, and I was suprised to learn that BV is right up there with the STI that cause infertility. When untreated, BV can seriously damage your organs and lead to i in the same way many STI can.

BV!

Makes perfect sense, but I never thought BV was that serious. I chalked it up to being like a yeast infection. They go hand in hand anyway.

I was wrong, tho.

Just thought I'd share.

Im starting on the pill 'Microgynon 30' today, as it said to start taking the pills on your first day of bleeding...

It says that im protected straight away, which is good.

But what happens to this period?

I have a tampon in at the moment, as thats all i have...but am i now going to stop bleeding as i have taken my first tablet?

Or does this period carry on as normal, with me taking the tablets?

Hi girls. This entry will probably make me sound like a dork, but I really needed to share with people who understand.

For about two weeks before my period I had dark brown discharge. Now I have my period, but its a lot more brown than usual. Whats wrong with me?

this saturday is my last birth control pill (it's a placebo). i made the mistake of thinking i had another month's worth when i went home from spring break, so i didn't get any more while home. when i got back to school, i found out i didnt have any more. my bf was supposed to go to planned parenthood to pick me up some more and mail it to me, but he got in a car accident, and now he probably won't be able to go there till next week. now, i probably won't be seeing him till the weekend of april/beginning of may, so no sex for me until then. do you think i'd be ok if i missed a week or two of bc? i'm on lo-ovral if that counts for anything

and little o/t, but after all the posts i've seen here, i bought a diva cup! i was hoping it'd come in time for the period im on now, but i doubt it, and that makes me sad. im still excited though!

Hi. I'm new to the community. Been checking out the community off an on for over a year.

My question for the moment is what do people use to clean themselves up after oral sex if you can't take a shower right after? I was wondering if using hypo-allogenic, scentless baby wipes would be an ok thing to use or if there is a better thing. Part of the problem is im in college and live in the dorms. I need something thats quick and discreet.

Thanks

hi..im new to the community and what im about to ask may sound stupid to probably most of you. im going to florida in may, may 25 i leave. ive calculated that im going to be starting my period the day i leave, which sucks. i was wondering if there is anything i can do so that i wont be on it during florida. the only thing is, i dont want to use birth control. are there any alternatives?

Well, I know how much we all love yeast infections [and yeast infection posts :( ] but I find myself in a YI experience that I haven't been in before. I have a YI & I am on my period. I am a faithful tampon user. So here is the question...how do I treat the YI while I am on my period? I really don't want 4 days of itchyness and/or for it to get to the point where I need to wage full out vagina-war (i.e. prescription) because it hasn't been treated. If I had to, I could use pads, but it just seems as though the blood flow would take the medicine with it. So if anyone has any tips....? Oh and the only treatments that have ever worked from me are the over-the-counter 7 day cream and tea tree oil. My vagina laughs at one day cream, three day cream, yogurt and garlic.

Thanks!

Diva Cup

Ok girls: I was just thisclose to filling out the online order form and ordering myself a Diva Cup.

Convince me!

My boyfriend and I have never used condoms (we're monogamous and STD-free), only birth control pills. However, I was on antibiotics this week for a UTI, so we're planning to use condoms for backup. Is there anything I ought to know before using them? I don't mean the standard medical warnings/risks; but does it feel different? Are there any complications? Will I even notice a difference? That sort of thing... Thanks. :)

I have just recently ended my period and have been having a lot of pain in my lower stomach region. I have also have some lower back pain. I have also been treated for two UTIs in the past two months. When my boyfriend and I were having sex last night it was unbearably painful. I called the gyno and can't get in until Tuesday.

I was wondering if anyone has any idea what this might be. Thanks.

I just wanted to update everyone on my menstrual cup "trial run" with Insteads.
Now I know the Insteads are not supposed to be a good indicator of how the others will work.
However.
I love these things! The only leakage issues I've had are when I sneezed, and during a BM. No troubles getting it situated after that first time.
This doesn't even feel like a period! I am totally getting a permanent cup.

hum.

i haven't had a period for three months as of yesterday. tested for pregnancy twice over--once via a peestick, once via a blood test. negative. correct me if i'm wrong, but this qualifies for secondary amenorrhea, yes? i went to my gyn when i was 10 weeks into the absence (not yet qualifying for the aforementioned) and she said it was absolutely normal and it was nothing to worry about for someone my age--sixteen.

however, i've had a regular cycle (like clockwork, almost) before this incident for almost a year, so i think it's pretty damn abnormal.

i have been under insane amounts of stress lately, but i somehow find it difficult to believe insane amounts of stress (most of which started after the first missed period) will make a woman skip three periods in a row. no diet changes, no weird exercising. this leads me, the hypochondriac extraordinaire, to believe i have PCOS (no weight changes, no funky hair growing), hypothyroidism (my mom has this, but i don't know if it's genetic. but anyway, again, no weight changes or anything), or some other funky disease, yet my doctor insists it's absolutely normal. i also don't want to induce a period, for fear of it being either completely ineffective in bringing about the rag and therefore a pain in my ass, or for fear of it worsening whatever's making me do this.

1. is it indeed normal for an otherwise regular woman (girl?) to skip three consecutive months?
2. should i listen to my doctor and wait it out, or seek other help? i trust my doc, but if she's passing something serious off as teenage hormonal imbalances i'll be rather upset.

thankya. ;)
