hmm...

i have a canker sore...those stupid little white sores that appear inside your lip..

not vag related--but sex related.

is a canker sore a form of oral herpes? ive read that it ISNT..and that nobody really knows for sure what causes them...im just asking to make sure.

if its NOT a form of oral herpes, is it okay to give oral sex while a canker sore lurks in my mouth? ....

if anybody knows a good place to ask this question other than here *cuz i dont know where to ask* that would be cool..

oh, and is oral herpes the same strain of herpes as genital herpes? ie, if i have a cold sore and i give oral sex to my bf, can he get genital herpes from it?? *i havent, just to be on the safe side*

hmm....

happy

So, Saturday night, my man and I are getting it on, with a condom, since we just got back together and I haven't taken birth control. Everything's lovely and great, and as we switch positions, we realize that the condom is missing.

So we check the bed, the floor, the sheets, and I check myself, then he checks me. No sign of the missing condom. I figure we'll find it in the morning, so he puts on another one, and we resume.

In the morning, he checks again, around the room, for the condom. Nope. Still not there. I tell him it'll probably turn up later.

So anyway, Sunday night, we're talking and he mentions that he had found the condom on the side of the bed. (edit: it was most likely another one we had kinda thrown off to the side in the heat of passion)

Last night, I was feeling a little frisky, and I decided to give myself some self-love. I feel something rather funny, rubbery, inside... I'm thinking what the hell is this?!

And I pull out the condom from Saturday night.

This is scary. Has this happened to anyone before? What are the chances of me getting an infection or something?

Cross-posted to [livejournal.com profile] birthcontrol.

So after 6 years of Depo-Provera I’m finally switching. I did 8 weeks worth of research and credit this community with providing a wealth of useful information.

I’m stopping because I’m in a high-risk category for bone depletion due to hereditary osteoporosis. I’m also stopping because I suspect some of my moodiness and libido related problems could also be attributed to Depo.

Regardless I went to the Dr’s yesterday with specific requirements in mind. I wanted something with the lowest possible amount of estrogen, monophasic and containing the same kind of progestin that was in Depo. I asked for Alesse and she told me that she wanted to give me Levlen instead. Since it was still monophasic, had the same progestin as depo and was still relatively low in Estrogen I didn’t protest too loudly.

So here are my questions

1.) When I asked about the Estrogen level she said she wanted to give me a bit more estrogen to encourage my body to start menstruation again. Is this valid? Honestly I really don’t miss having a period and I think that being on Depo and hence, stopping menstruation got rid of my anemia. I guess she thinks a regular cycle will help make managing or identifying side effects easier?

2.) While I realize that everyone’s experience is different and there are no hard and fast rules or symptoms for BC for anyone, I see very little information about Levlen. Anyone else taking it? Have any positive or uplifting information to boost my cautious optimism. I mean, I’m 26 years old and I’ve never been on anything other than Depo so I’m trying to trust that this lousy HMO Dr I’ve never spoken to before had some wisdom when she said her experience led her to believe that this BC was the best to deal with the complaints I had.

3.) Can someone please direct me to that nifty entry/link about the birth control pill holder with the alarm on it !!!

Thanks <3

I had been taking OTC since march, and then switched to OTC-Lo at the end of last month. Reason being #1: it is cheaper, because i can buy it at the health services at school, #2: i had no problems with the regular OTC so i figured #3: it would be nicer for me not to be pumping as much drugs into my body if i could help it.

so i started it and it was fine, but i wasn't supposed to get my period until yesterday.. Tuesday. I started bleeding last Wednesday, 6 days early, but it was pretty light, and then yesterday (Tuesday, when i was Supposed to get it) i got it at the normal level. So if it ends Saturday like normal, it will have been going for a week and a half. it usually only lasts five days.

Is this one of those things that maybe my body is just adjusting to the new level of hormones? Could the Lo version not be strong enough for me? Am I just going to bleed forever? The thing that weirded me out is that, never in my life have i gotten my period early. it has been 5 days late sometimes but never early. Ever.

Help?!

How long after a miscarriage will the pregnancy hormone be detectable in urine or blood samples? Just curious...

Well, recently I've been getting a weird discharge. It started on Sunday. My period had ended a week and a few days before. I was very sick that day (headaches, tired, generally dead) and had a few bits of blood with my normal discharge. The next day I had a small sort of eye-shaped (like '()') bit of very dark, thick discharge in my underwear. It's now Wednesday and each day it's been getting a bit bigger. Today I'm wearing a pad and there's about twice as much as there was on Monday.

It's a very dark brown (looks black) and definitely has some blood in it. There's no weird smell. I've had no odd pains, no changes in diet, exercise regime, stress, not sexually active (and never have been) etc. I'd normally be ovulating around now. I'm 16 and this has never ever happened before. Anyone have any ideas? I'm beginning to get a bit worried...

Hey everyone, this is my first post to this group, and I wanted to say that some of the info I have found on here was informative and helpful. Go you mods!
Anyways,my question is for anyone using the depo-provera shot. My period, which, since being on the shot, had been mainly spotting sporadically. However since I got my last injection (Sept) I havent had anything whatsoever, and I'm becoming mildly paranoid about whether should get a home test, just to play it safe. Am I completely paranoid here,or do I have legitimate reasons for worrying?
Also, have any of you noticed major mood changes since being on the shot?

I'm 16 and I don't have sex, but I'd really like a medication that regulates my period and helps clear my skin. So I looked that up, and it seems like Diane-35, the contraceptive, is the only thing I can find.

All the information on the Internet about Diane-35 seems kinda sketchy, and I can't find anything useful in the archives. I just want to know if Diane-35 has done anyone any good as a period regulator, acne treatment or a contraceptive. Please give me any information on it that you have.

Thank you in advance.

I looked this up and didn't find what I was looking for.

Your "period" on The Pill is just withdrawal bleeding correct? Assuming this is correct, would you still get your "period" if you were pregnant and on the pill?

Thanks ladies. :)

What is it?!

Okay, here's my jumbled around explanation, I sure hope someone can help me.

About a month or so ago, my bf and I used KY Warming Liquid. Bad experience. Basically, it burned the heck out of both of us. It gave my boyfriend cuts that continue to reopen everytime we have sex (he's now taking amoxicillan).

When we used it, it irritated me, I got a yeast infection soon after. Don't know if that was related or not. It cleared up. Sex again (w/o that stuff), felt like the beginning of the same thing. It went away when my period started, thankfully. I'm not sure if it's because I was raw and my bf was too.

Now. That was the beginning of October that I had my period. We haven't had sex that much since then -- it's not that comfortable. But when we do -- well, the cuts totally open up on him, and me ... it gets ouchy. This is more noticeable, though. It hurts, it kinda burns (not like UTI though), and it kinda itches. And, I have these bumps ... kinda hard to explain where they are. But they're like, below, to the left, of my vaginal lips. I've had them once before, last year -- it made sex painful, I went to the doc, had a something infection and got some amoxicillan. They're like small, itchy bumps.

The thing is ... sex didn't really hurt the other night (Monday?) ... I don't know if this is from (later) fingernail scratches since it seemed to get worse after manual play, or if it's because my boyfriend is still really raw, or WHAT it is. But it's uncomfortable, and itchy, and I don't know what it might be or what might be good to take to help it. Is there anything that helps heal the vagina fast? I don't even know what I'd TELL my doctor. So I'm eating yogurt and drinking water and stuff (and cranberry when I can get my hands on it), but I don't know. All I do know is KY Warming Liquid is AWFUL.

And if anyone has ANY advice/suggestions, please share. Oh, and also -- my one doctor had said that, if my yeast infection didn't respond well to Diflucan (before), there was a good cream to try that she used a lot. It wasn't Monistat -- can someone think of what else it might be? Also, would that hurt me as badly as Vagisil did?! It doesn't itch INSIDE ... but it HURTS too.

Sorry this is so jumbled!

This is probably a silly question, but...
I know that BCP have an interaction with antibiotics, but what about with allergy meds? I can't really find anything on it. I mean, I doubt they do, but I figured one of you lovely people would know better than I. Thanks!! :)
