Untreated BV?

I'm just curious, does anything bad happen if you don't treat BV? The only time I've ever had it, I barely knew anything was wrong. So, if it can go away on it's own, that'd be nice. I realize there are home remedies and such, but there wouldn't be much point for me, if I can barely tell I have an infection in the first place.

For yeast infections, for example, PID is not mentioned as a possible complication (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/MEDLINEPLUS/ency/article/001511.htm#Complications).

Anyway, I guess now if I do get it again I will go for the treatment, just in case. Does that make sense?
