Untreated BV?

I'm just curious, does anything bad happen if you don't treat BV? The only time I've ever had it, I barely knew anything was wrong. So, if it can go away on it's own, that'd be nice. I realize there are home remedies and such, but there wouldn't be much point for me, if I can barely tell I have an infection in the first place.

It can increase the risk of pelvic inflammatory disease, which is considerably more painful and complicated than BV. From what I've read, it doesn't generally go away on its own like a YI can.
