so yes i ordered a divacup yesterday, much to the chagrin of my mother. [she is 50 yrs old, for reference, i am 16. she went through early menopause]

she is very annoyed and she wants me to speak with my gynecologist before using it. for some reason. she wants to see proof from THE AMERICAN HEALTH ASSOCIATION that it is safe.

my only concern is, i'm going to a three week camp at skidmore university later this summer. how can i go about washing/boiling/etc it while avoiding the creepy questions?

is it safe to wash it with any antibacterial soaps and not mess up the natural flora and fauna of the vag?

Hey hey, congratulations are in store, i have my first YI! *insert applaus*

yep, itchy (grr), yep cottage cheesey, havn't noticed the smell yet, but it'll get there.

anyway, i've been racking my brains over that trying to figure out how i got his and i think "oh, i hope its not my diva!"

see, i just finished my first cycle with the diva cup. and i love it. but its not worth using it if i'm spending more than the money i'd spend on pads buying YI treatments every month. soooo...

I'm thinking that perhaps next period i need to be a little more stringent on cleaning my cup. see, i cleaned it the whole time with just plain warm water, becaus i'm worried that if i use any soap or anything i'll just get irritated because i have sensitive skin. so i was thinking the best would be warn water. but i guess not.

so, any suggestions on the YI? Do i really need to see a doctor to get it diagnosed, even though its really freaking obvious? and if i get acidophilus pills (if i don't go to the doctor), do i take them orally or vaginally?

and

any suggestions on a soap or cleaning product that wont make me itchy and swollen down there? doesn't sound like fun to me, so...

thanks all, for help and for just being the awesome VP girls you all are.

I've heard alot of raves about resevoirs/cups over the last year. It was always something I was keen on, but had never gotten around to using, since ordering online is a pain for me since I don't have a credit card. I heard of a store locally that carried the Diva Cup, so I trucked out to get one for me, and another for a curious friend.

I *love* my diva cup.

My intial impressions of the Cup was "Ew, do they really have to put in in such Barbie-esque packaging?" but I got over that in about two seconds, purchased it, and happily went on my way.

Insertion: I've heard that alot of people have trouble on thier first try, but maybe It's because I'm constantly reading the trials and tribulations of other VPers I had the skinny on some good tips, and got in it right away. Or maybe it's because I've always used OB, and they don't have applicators, so I already new the geography of my vag. The only thing that bothered me was that I seemed to ride *really* low. The stem hovering millimeters away from my lips, but I didn't want to hasty with the stem trimming, so I figured I'd give it a few hours like that to see how it felt. I probably should have folowed my instincts and trimmed it, because a few hours later, it was sore. So I pulled it out, hacked the stem off, and went to put in back in. And I couldn't get in back in. I guess I was too overconfident since the first time was such a breeze, but under the pressure I froze. I fiddle on the toiliet for a good ten minutes before getting it back in & popping it open. Oh well, that's Karma for you.

Impressions after day 1: It felt a little funny to wear for the first half-hour or so, but that was most likely because I was over-consious of it, every move I made I felt it shifting, and I was very paranoid about it getting stuck, not working, bleeding all over myself, ect. I put a cloth pad down and told myself to relax, and eventually I did. After that, I didn't really notice it at all. What I did notice was a lack of cramps and abdomial pains that I usually got when wearing tampons. Bonus.

Day 2: Still had some issues with confort when it came to removal & insertion, but I was falling hard for my Diva. I even went out for night on the town, and it was pure bliss to not have to run & check for leaks every hour or so, or deal with the hassle of trying to change tampons in gross, poorly lit bar bathrooms.

End of cycle: I am NEVER going back to tampons. Ever.

So that's my little DivaCup review, I hope it was helpful to someone out there. I guess the short verison would be: it takes a little getting used too, so don't give up right away. You'll be so glad you stuck with it. :D

Hi guys!
I was thinking about getting a diva cup because i'm just sick of tampons and dryness and blah. I'm totally all for the Diva BUT I'm alittle worried about using it at school. We have public bathrooms and I would hate to have to go in, wash it out in our sinks and then go back into the stall? I think it would freak a lot of people out. I'm sure other people have this issue and that's why I'm wondering HOW do you deal!! haha
Thanks ladies (:

So I got my DivaCup in the other day. I put it in while I was in the shower, just to test. It'll take some getting used to, but I know I'll be able to. The only thing is this... How the hell are you supposed to twist the cup all the way around? Once it's in there, I can't grip it well enough to twist it. Also, is there a way to get it to pop open easier? I decided to leave it in while I was in the shower and after moving around for a few minutes I felt a slight pulling sensation and assumed it was the cup fully popping open and creating suction.

hey lovelies!

i just got a keeper (aka diva cup) and i was telling my mom about it, and she thought that it might stretch out my vagina, because it's not exactly "molded" to my exact shape, and we don't all have the same "tightness."

i'll be using it anyway, but does anyone have any information about this? or has anyone felt that their vagina has gotten wider due to the use of a keeper/diva cup?

what is the purpose of those little holes on the upper outside of the diva cup. They get stuff stuck in them and it is hard to clean and it pisses me off.

so i got my DivaCup last night and tried to use it this morning. and the damn thing nearly ripped me up! it was so weird. i'm not a virgin but for some reason i couldn't get it inside of me and the cup popped back open before it was all the way in and whatever might have been left of my hymen is ruined. i tried a couple of times and it hurt too much so i gave up for the time being. i don't know how to get the stupid thing in and it hurts. i was so excited to use it. and then it hurt my vag!

does anyone have any ideas as to how i can get the stupid thing in??

i also bought sea sponges and those things are way bigger than i thought...

Hey guys.

I just bought a diva cup and tried it out for the first time. Once "installed" it was very very comfortable. But getting it in and out was nerve-wracking. I had a hard time slipping it in, and an equally hard time getting a grip on the stem to yank it out.

I'm a rather small person.

Do I just need to practice?

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to this?

Thanks very much in advance.

Okay girls I’m sure this is one of those annoying questions that too many people ask about, but I’ve been searching around in the memories and i haven't found anything really useful. But if i missed a good entry about this, please point my in the right direction.

I've recently decided that I’d like to try a menstrual cup like the diva cup, moon cup, or the keeper, but I'm not really sure which one to try. I'm not very vagina friendly, so I want something that won't be *too* hard to put in all the time. I know it'll take a little practice to get it right, but I thought I’d ask for some advice anyway. Is there one that is smaller? One that is more flexible? Easier to insert?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks :)
