If a condom leaves a red indentation around the base when it's removed, does that mean it's too tight? My boyfriend says they're a bit uncomfortable for him. This is his first time having sex, and he's been lasting way over an hour each time. In theory, that's great for me but at the same time my vagina gets a little tired after so long. He's had to just get himself off afterwards because I'm too orgasmed-out to let him try more. Could the condoms be preventing him from coming if they're too tight? We're using standard lubricated trojans, if that makes any difference.

Just like different brands of jeans, different brands of condoms are cut differently. He may find that a different brand, or different style of Trojans may fit more comfortably, or that the large sized condoms may fit better. Trying different ones out may help you find ones that work well and fit comfortably. Blowfish sells a condom sampler which can be a good way to try a bunch of different brands.

My guy had that problem, we switched to Vivid Large, Magnum, Magnum XL or Life Styles King Size. He is much more comfortable in those then other condoms. That being said, I've found that condom length isn't the problem, but that there needs to be more condoms that are wider.

my guy wears large ones, and by comparison they actually are larger around. as has been said, just make sure they don't slip off. in this case, though, it doesn't seem as though that'll be a problem. there are the rare guys who need the bigger condoms. ;)

I don't really get why guys need bigger condoms. The regular ones stretch a HUGE amount.

That's true, but after reading these replies it makes sense. Take a regular hair-band: sure, you can stretch it until it could fit around a 16 ounce coke bottle, but if someone puts it around their wrist for a day it might hurt and leave a red mark after a while, or even cut your circulation off a bit. Even a milimeter extra might make enough difference that it won't hurt at all, but still be snug.

Yeah, it's not so much that it can't stretch to accommodate them. It's just that the farther you stretch it, the tighter it's going to feel on their wingwong.

And the other day I actually experienced the hair-band thing mentioned above. Freakin' thing left a blue ring around my wrist. I thought my hand was gonna fall off.

Try the Trojan Magnum's, probably XL if it's that pronounced a mark. I'd have to disagree with anyone who says that the condom can stretch enough to work for guys like this, from an eyewitness point of view. My boyfriend can't even get the regular condoms on. This trait of his has actually been a real issue in our relationship. I'd give you dimensions, but that's a little TMI.

i am not recommending this, just telling you my personal solution to this problem.
my ex and i used condoms for a while, but i guess we switched brands and the ones we were using were too tight for him. he literally stopped enjoying sex because of the discomfort.
well his mom found an open condom wrapper and made me tell my mom, who put me on birth control. once i started the birth control, we stopped using condoms.
neither of us is STD infected (he had been a virgin, and i had been tested), and i didn't allow him to cum inside me. it worked (/works, since we are still on and off) well for us.

I'll second the larger condom solution, and that the tightness of the condom may be contributing to him not coming.

That said, it may not just be the condom's tightness (or lack of sensation) that is preventing him from orgasming- It could also be that he's used to a tight 'grip' on his penis when he's pleasing himself. Often when men are used to masturbating as their means of getting off, it takes a while to adjust to the different sort of pressure/friction that vaginas provide.
